We had light winds but with only a small breeze this boat accelerated so quick and we almost sailed twice as fast as the windspeed.. No wonder that this boat beat the record for the transpac this year with an elapsed time of 4 Days, 6 Hours, 33 Minutes, 30 Seconds.!!! Hi Everyone, Recently, the indicator light on the dash of our 1995 Porsche 993 Cabriolet that lets you know the top is not completely down, refused to go out. It seemed like the top was latching, but that was not the case. I pulled the right side latch motor from the top and it had incurred the dreaded broken drive gear ☹ After searching a bit (and being to stubborn to pay over $1100 for a new one), I found a replacement gear set for $120 (shipped) from AutohausAZ. In this video I got through the entire process to diagnose the issue, and then fit the new gears to the latch motor assembly. It is a tad involved with getting the drive gear on and off, but I did it with pretty standard workbench tools. This little repair can save you multiple hundreds of dollars and correct a safety issue if your top won’t latch completely. The Aputure A.Lav Lavalier microphone is a budget omni-directional lavalier mic. I bought this to increase the quality of sound, compared to my dslr. Connected to the Canon Eos 80D is already a big improvement, but because it is wired, it will not be very practical. Connected to the Galaxy S5 is good quality, but I noticed that each time a mail, whatsapp, ... comes in, It will disturb the audiotrack. So probably a audiorecorder (Tascam Dr-40 V2) will be added to make audio great.

We meet a fellow campervan owner in Penang named Farid, he takes us to his hometown in Jitra Kedah near the border of Thailand. We end up going on an epic adventure from KL to Penang to Jitra to Cameron Highlands to KKB and back to KL in 5 days all by travelling and living in our campervan. Time had passed us by and we now knew we needed a change. We began selling our possessions (still in the middle of selling) bought a Toyota Liteace Premio 1.8 1995 and self converted a into a tiny campervan in order to travel with our dogs Roxy and Bo. To get used to this new change, we decided to start our travels within Malaysia with an end goal of one day driving overland from Malaysia to the UK. We share our experiences with Campervan Builds, Travel Adventures and Interviews of People who inspire us - we provide access to information for those who may want to do the same one day. We finally made it! In October of this year we upped sticks from Brighton - UK and moved to Greece to live aboard our 53' Amel Super Maramu yacht. An unbelievably emotional and stressful time leading up to the day, but so much relief when we finally stepped aboard. A lifelong dream and a decade of ambitious planning - all the hard work and financial sacrifice has finally paid off. I don't think either of us has ever worked so hard and so long to realise a dream. So yes, we finally made it. We're now anchored in Greece in Two Rocks Bay where we've found time to catch up on some vlogging! I can't remember when the last vlog was, but there's been so much going on. Woody went to the boatyard in Greece - twice - with his Dad and then some mates to organise engineers, get the boat ready, launch it and do a shakedown sail. So while Woody was getting the boat ready I was organizing renting our home and making sure all the jobs were done to the house. There were lots of unfinished DIY jobs that I did with help from my friends. I was also trying to pack our bags to bring out you know, we had eight bags, a hundred and sixty kilos of luggage so I was trying to work out what we needed. I was also trying to order things for the boat which we needed like kiddy netting, a new computer, a printer, paperwork from the business, as well as doing our tax returns. I was trying to sort out health insurance cards, home schooling and in the evenings I would do tea and then when the kids went to bed I pretty much carried on for another five hours and evening working. I managed to fit in a little party on one afternoon too! Aruba is the last of the ABC-island and now we have visited them all. We are planning and preparing for our passage to Colombia and since the passage is known for strong wind and high waves we decide to get going when we see a good weather window. But before sailing to Colombia we have time to meet a couple of Arubans, celebrate Malin's birthday and get stuck in a fishing net. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, with support from the Cruising Club of America and the Ocean Cruising Club, hosted 120 guests for a Designers’ Forum on Saturday, October 21st. Nine recognized naval architects arrived from across the country to participate. Guests came from throughout New England to attend. The event began with an Open House at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, with designers on site to showcase their latest work. After a break for lunch, a capacity crowd gathered at the Farnsworth’s Wyeth Center for a Designers’ Panel Discussion and Q&A segment. The themes for the two 45-minute discussions were Yachting Today and Tomorrow. John Hanson, Founder and Publisher of Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Magazine served as moderator for the Today segment. Doug Zurn, Zurn Yacht Design; Chuck Paine, CW Paine Yacht Design; Jay Paris, Jay E. Paris Naval Architecture; and Robert Stephens, Stephens Waring Yacht Design covered topics ranging from the pros and cons of custom versus production boats; designing to the rule and the place of sailing and boating in today’s busy world. Besides the designers and naval architects, the events were attended by other notable people in the industry including professional sailor Cam Lewis, yacht interior designer Martha Coolidge, Kevin Burns, designer for Back Cove Yachts, The Landing School’s Jaimie Houtz and Scott Teas architect of 250 Main. Afterwards, guests continued the discussion at a festive reception at 250 Main Hotel catered by Café Miranda.

Mein Solotörn beginnt am 24./25. Mai 2017 ab Portoferraio auf Elba. Geplant habe ich Elba im Uhrzeigersinn über die Ost-, Süd- und Westküste zu runden und die Überfahrt nach Korsika anzugehen. Entlang Korsikas Ostküste, von Bastia nach Macinaggio und über Isola Capraia zurück nach Elba, so oder ähnlich meine Planung.
