We should know by now that some jobs are easier and cheaper in the long run, just to hire out. I wish I knew that about our sacrificial sail cover. The area of Sunbrella which runs along the foot and leach of our head sails are getting switched out from Pacific Blue, to Cadet Gray so they blend in better with our new color scheme. After a few weeks I've ripped off the old material, traced it onto the new, and have mostly pinned and tacked it into place to be sewn. Another week or so goes by, and it's finally finished, making our boat match again instead of looking like an elementary school's color scheme. Matt also gets a dose of 'why is this project taking so long' as he goes to finish our maple hardwood floors with epoxy, only to find out his initial ratio was off and the compound never full dried. We sailed into Rabat through the Bouregreg River and stayed at the Marina for four nights to explore the beautiful City. If you ever have a chance defiantly stop in for a visit, well worth the stop. We left Rabat to head to Agadir which was going to be a 2 day sail, we had dolphins follow us down the Coast for around 1hr which was insane! Enjoy Ep 14. Despite performing dances for the wind gods, the wind failed to materialise for a second consecutive day at the RC44 Calero Marinas Cup in the normally windy Canary Islands. With no racing on the final day, John Bassadone’s Peninsula Petroleum claimed this, the last event of the season. In turn this left Igor Lah’s Team CEEREF to win her second consecutive RC44 Championship. Bassadone congratulated his crew, including his long term Italian tactician Vasco Vascotto, and also local sailor Alfredo Morales who stood in for him on Thursday’s opening day and for race one of day two. On that second day they had won both races, results which ultimately secured victory for the Gibraltar-based team at the RC44 Calero Marinas Cup. The RC44 Calero Marinas Cup is the final event of the 2017 RC44 Championship Tour, which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. Yesterday we launched Turtle and we are so excited to be in the water! This morning one of the marina managers came to tell us that a slip was now available for us to use. Randall motored Turtle around to the slip while Kenzie walked with the marina lady on land. The slip was a corner space surrounded by other boats. Randall had to zig zag around in an "s" shape to get to the opening of the slip and ended hitting bottom just outside! Randall put the boat in full throttle as Kenzie and a worker guy pulled on ropes from the dock. Turtle was sitting in about 2 feet of mud and sat even deeper once the tide went down. We spent the day setting up the foresail and organizing the inside of the boat. We took several trips to town for odds and ends and were starting to feel anxious. We have been preparing for this trip for 5-6 years now, but there was still so much that needed to get done before we could leave. Randall had forgotten to fill the fuel tank, the flares were expired, and we still needed to find large enough tarps to cover the truck! While sitting stuck in the mud, we heard loud breathing coming from the water next to the boat. We have never been in Florida waters before and at first we didn't know what it was. It sounded and looked like alligators! A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now?
