Well, just killed the budget as our engine repair went from $800 when we were just replacing the head, to $2,400 to replace the long block. We lost the $800, this was money that we used buying the new head and gasket, but you live and learn. At the end of this project, we will total up all the cost if you have the same project in mind. When we got the new head on we got low compression in cylinder 3 and 4 on our boat. While we may have been able to run the engine like this, it probably would have used a lot of oil. This would not have been good for the environment and wildlife in our lakes and oceans. This is probably why we found so much oil left under the seat in our Bayliner Bowrider from the previous owner. After spending six weeks exploring Waiheke Island it was time to head north to Whangaparoa Peninsula, Gulf Harbour and Kawau Island. Kawau is only a few kilometres north but is a little gem! I also do a hatch replacement of the broken Lewmar deck hatch.
