At first I recommend the moderate-size circlar hole (φ 2 cm). “Considerate of the position of a hole” If you make a hole on the upper side, you can see the upper of outside. If you make a hole on the lower side, you can see the lower of outside.

You GOTTA see this place its ridiculous! Raja Ampat is the epitome of mother natures creations and in this video we are searching for that perfect postcard photo. https://www.sailingnandji.com This week on Sailing Nandji, after making the big decision to head to the far away remote northern island of Wayag in Raja Ampat, we were greeted with the most stunning scenery we have ever witnessed. The entrance into the lagoon is prehistoric and from there on, you only get more lost as you weave around the hundreds of conical islands. The strong winds blew but we managed to find so many secret little gems. Once the live aboard dive boat we saw on our entry left, we were the only people in this wonderland for days. Our crew member Juzzy, is an amputee and his time spent on Nandji, he proved to us how your outlook on life reflects what you are able to do. Juzzy only received his new leg a couple of days before arriving to Nandji. He ticked off many firsts and one of them was a bush walk. We had all seen the postcard photos from the top of one of the hills in Wayag. We head searching for that perfect postcard photo and find the track that takes us up the hill. The easy walk turned more into a rock climbing expedition and Juzzy with only one leg, was the first to the top of the hill. What a legend, it was great to give him such a stoked feeling!! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! This week we sail through the Gibraltar Strait, a famous and historic narrow stretch of water that separates Europe from Africa and the Atlantic from the Mediterranean. There's a lot going on. And it is indescribably cool to pass through this strait and see Morocco on one side, Spain on the other and know that you're leaving the Atlantic ocean. We get some really great weather for the crossing and although it's a very early start from Cadiz, the sunrise is gorgeous and we manage to arrive in Gibraltar before dark. For additional details pertinent to this video please read the description below. “Side Ties” is the fifth video in our Physics of Docking series. Jeff Merrill and Douglas Cochrane have collaborated to share their combined docking knowledge with other boaters through this collection of videos. Filming for these episodes was done in San Diego, CA aboard a single engine Nordhavn 57. The easiest form of docking is arriving at a long, wide open dock where you come in alongside. Many fuel docks are set up this way and if they aren’t busy pumping fuel you may ask if you can practice at your local fuel dock. If not, look for a vacant T-head or end tie. To learn this technique, pick a calm day with a soft breeze, no other floating distractions (like other boats, kayaks, etc.) and plenty of dock space to land. Discuss ahead of time with your crew what type of landing you are going to make, who is going to do what with the various docking lines, and map out your your game plan so everyone knows his or her role before you begin your first approach. With dock lines ready and fenders properly draped you are all set to go for it. In our experience, we have learned that the best angle of approach for a side tie is about 30-degrees. As you bring your trawler in close to the dock, you want to have enough momentum to have some steerage, but remember, all docking maneuvers should be conducted at reduced speeds. By nosing your bow in at a 30-degree angle you are ideally set up to glide into the dock softly, your objective being to land parallel to the dock so you can secure your lines to the cleats. Remember, the front sides of your trawler usually taper in, so you can get a little closer to the dock without hitting than you might think. As you commit to your final approach, center your helm and put your gear shift in neutral. Coast for the final couple of boat lengths (exactly how “hot” you come in is realized through patience and practice). While in neutral, start setting up your rudder by turning your helm hard to port and as your bow gets within a couple of feet of the dock give a slight shift into forward gear. This will put some prop wash on the rudder to move your stern in towards the dock and propel you slightly forward. Back in neutral at slow speeds you will see the stern close the gap from 30 degrees to 20, then 10 and ultimately 0 degrees with the end result being a landing that has set you up parallel to the dock. Once you are parallel, slightly back down in reverse to hold your position and stop your forward movement. To practice, you can try to end up 10’ from the dock, then 5’ from the dock and as your feel for speed and momentum becomes more natural and intuitive, you can go all the way in to the dock. Once you gain confidence, organize a practice session drill with a series of “touch and go’s” like aircraft pilots do to hone their landing and take off skills. Once at the dock you need to reverse these steps for a smooth departure. If you are parallel and just go forward you will drag your stern into the dock as you try to steer our to port. This can pin you in place and makes it difficult to separate. We see many skippers to this and at slow speeds it doesn’t damage the boat, but there is a better way. Once you have a good feel for coming along your starboard side, try your hand at arriving port side too. Learning the skills to approach from either side will give you more confidence to arrive in any marina knowing that you are ready to dock. Das ist das Gefühl, welches wir an Bord verspüren, wenn der Wind in die Segel bläst und die Yacht sich durch das Wasser bewegt. Wir träumen vor allem von Revieren, die Ihre Natürlichkeit behalten haben, die eine üppige Vegetation zeigen, eine große Artenvielfalt und Naturschönheit vorweisen können und am besten – nicht überlaufen sind! Und genau das bieten die Azoren. Gerade mal viereinhalb Stunden Flugzeit von Frankfurt entfernt. Insgesamt haben die Azoren eine Größe von rund 2300 km². Die größte und somit auch gleichzeitig die Hauptinsel ist Sao Miguel, mit einer Größe von rund 750 km². Hier leben dann auch rund 140 der insgesamt circa 246.000 Einwohner der Azoren. Die Inseln selbst werden nochmal in drei verschiedene Untergruppen aufgeteilt. Die Ost-, die Zentral- und die Westgruppe. Zur Ostgruppe gehören Santa Maria und die Hauptinsel Sao Miguel. Die Zentralgruppe ist die größte Gruppe mit Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico und Faial. Übrig bleibt dann noch die Westgruppe, in der sich die wunderschöne Insel Flores und Corvo befinden.
