I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

We have a pretty rough go of it in the beginning of this episode when a multitude of boarding waves pour into the cabin through a dorade. But she was over on the East Coast of Australia and we wanted to go sailing on Ningaloo Reef on the West Coast. What to do? What to do? It was a tough choice (not really), but we hopped on a 3 night dive charter aboard Shore Thing with Sail Ningaloo. And had an absolute blast. The diving was spectacular, the reef was one of the best we'd seen and the best part? We were on a boat without having to do any of the work! Does life get any better??? But being aboard another boat did make us miss our girl and the trip to Ningaloo Reef meant that our travel adventure around Australia was just about at an end. We did a short trip up to Exmouth to attempt to swim with whale sharks and then another short one down to Perth to see some Quokkas. And then it was time to go home. Thanks for watching! Do they know something that the woman and children don't? When our cruising permit eventually arrived we were able to take Mike for a quick excursion to one of the beautiful islands just out of Vuda Marina, but nothing ever goes smoothly and the first time we drop the anchor in Fiji we get it stuck on the coral. Resulting in us needing a little helping hand to get away. But that is really the least of our problem when we get back to the marina. As Jean de La Fontaine said "A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it." Had we not decided to move the boat before Rob left, so that we wouldn't have to move it on our own the following day, we wouldn't have ended up with a broken rudder. This little atoll of Maupiti makes us very, very happy. We had the best time ever here. The anchorage is perfect, the beaches are like golden pillows scattered amongst coconut palms. The skyline is dominated by a beautiful peak that gave us the most amazing views of the entire atoll. At only 8km, a circumferential walk of the island leads to a flood of fresh fruit, mesmerising flowers and gracious locals. And oh my god those manta-rays were something so unique and special. We would have loved to have spent longer here, but with guests on board, we had to make their flight in Tonga. And once a southerly kicks up in these parts, there is no exiting the pass until it disappears!! One day we will be back and we will stay in here for as long as we like. Sailing into Chicago was pretty surreal for us. We first began hatching cruising plans while living in the city ten years ago. Now, looking back at the shoreline we used to walk along, a sailboat floating only in our imaginations, it feels like we’ve come full circle, our dream now a very real 20,000-pound vessel underfoot, carrying us past the same Chicago shoreline — and beyond, wherever we desire to go. After our family and friends gathered in Chicago to send us off in our previous episode, we depart Belmont Harbor with a plan to reach Skyway Yacht Works at the Calumet River mouth (where our mast will be unstepped). But the wind is whipping 20-25 just off the bow, much too strong for our 155% genoa, and we’re forced to turn on the engine. Instead of motoring all the way to the river, we decide to duck into the Playpen, an anchorage right next to downtown, with the most incredible view of the Chicago skyline. The next morning even though the winds haven’t abated, we can’t delay any longer. We put up a double reefed main and a heavily furled headsail. The going is tough, but we really want to sail one last time before our 1300-mile journey down the river as a motorboat. We even sail backwards (on purpose!), which is the last step of the boat renaming ceremony, intended to be performed during your first sail back on the water. We enter the Calumet River, and are immediately confronted with our new cruising environment: bridges, barges and commercial industry abound. It’s a whole new world with a new set of rules. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

Living on a boat is a pretty beautiful way of life. Aladino and I consider ourselves quite lucky. We thought we'd show you a full day of our alternative nomadic lifestyle, from dawn to dusk. Portugal, Portimão - 2018 Windsurfing World Championships 46 year-old Portuguese rider, João Rodrigues dominated the Raceboard Masterclass designed for riders over 35 winning six out of six races. Just a few months ago in Spain, Rodrigues won the title in Absolute class. Australian, Steve Allen won his fourth title in the Formula Windsurfing class. He has remained top in this class for the last 20 years. Next up will be the new Formula Foil trying to qualify as an Olympic class in Paris 2024 Olympics. Stay tuned.
