We leave the island of Maupiti (the best place ever) and embark on our 1200nm crossing to Tonga. 20miles in we are struck with a bilge full of water! We go to turn around and are hailed by other cruisers in our vicinity who offer to fill us in the next atoll, Maupihaa (which has absolutely NO services), out of the goodness of their hearts. For the first time in a long time we catch some good size Tuna & visit the Archangel Michael monastery. This is all after we explore Astypalaia and the Venetian Castle of Querini , which stands proud above the picturesque village of Chora. At the 2018 Windsurfing World Championships in Praia da Rocha, Portimão Portugal, a new class tested the winds. More than 30 windsurfers from 14 countries and 3 continents were registered for the first-ever Formula Foil World Championship. Formula Foil was showcased by some of the world’s best riders in an attempt to qualify the class for competition in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Unfortunately, variable winds didn’t allow for the multiple races required for Olympic approval of this competition. The only race of the day was won by Gonzalo Costa Hoevel from Argentina. Nicolas Goyard and Tristan Algret, both of France, took second and third place. “Portimão is scheduled to host the World Windsurf Championships again in 2019 and 2020. From Newport, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) continues the sailing east coast USA adventure to Block Island. Short sailing trip, only 20 nm away. Not much wind that day, so we had to motor most of the distance. We found Block Island very pretty, with nice beaches and a relaxed atmosphere. Similar to Martha's Vineyard, but on a much smaller scale. We planned for a couple of days in Block Island, to see the island and enjoy a cycle ride around it. But the weather has changed becoming dark, cold, rainy and windy. Which made our stay in Block Island very short, only one day. Soccer highlights of the 2018 fall season.  Emerson is a soccer star!  Its been amazing to see the enthusiasm, and focus he has had for soccer, and for that matter anything athletic.  We have had him playing at carriage crossing in Dublin, as well in Sports Ohio in Dublin.   Ill never doubt, or underestimate the importance of youth playing sports.  Over the years in my business Ive watched our most successful employees, are the ones who excelled in playing sports growing up.  There is something about learning to do hard things, and gaining mental fortitude.

Episode 49 Ricky started making our new nida-core swim platform. It was absolutely massive and the biggest one we have built yet. We didn't feel like going to work on Saturday but got the courage to get up and get going. We closed up any remaining holes left over by deck fittings and Ricky removed our old autopilot from the steering. Ricky & Moses also got some fishing done. Ricky and Basil turned a bit of Vesconite for our new bracket for our rudders. We also cleaned up our cock pit area and got our stern prepared for our new swim platform. I sized up our cabinet doors so that I could start priming them up to get installed. Ricky threw his phone in the ocean too.. It was a very morbid day that day. Luckily i got all the footage off the phone the night before or we would have lost some good footage too. We brought some Vinyl and Foamalite to start our headliner process... man oh man she looks good. Finally seeing the changes occurring. Thanks for watching! This hurricane hole plays hard to get. Times are changing and good marinas are getting harder to find in Florida. We searched from Sarasota to Cayo Costa to Okeechobee even the East Coast. One had just lost its permit for a rail haulout, inconveniencing scores of multihull owners. Another couldn’t hoist our 20' beam. Another only had in-water storage. And the ones on the East coast were just plain pricey and refused to let you live on, or work on, your own boat. But one place was quietly suggested to us. This video shows an arduous journey. From on the hook to the dock. I was supposed to only take Michonne. Turns out to be a full dingy. I couldn't get pics for Michonne's new home. However, it is on a nice Three acre horse ranch, with goats, horse and two other dogs.

Laut Windfinder sollte der Wind zur Nacht abnehmen. Tat er auch. Für eine halbe Stunde. Dann setzte er erneut ein. Aus exakt der entgegengesetzten Windrichtung. Ein riesiges Tiefdruckgebiet hatte sich aufgebaut. Und der türkische Wetterdienst meldete 9 bis 10 Windstärken - in Böen elf. Arrrghhhhhhhh....

Porto Di Levante lie s on the E side of the island N of the Ferry- you can anchor- clear of moorings. Porto Di Ponente- the pinnacle rocks on either side of the bay Volcano In the north of the island, two convenient and safe docking options, depending on the direction of the winds. We chose to anchor in Porto Di Levante, that lies on the E side of the island. It is also possible to tie the dingy to the next restaurant platform. In a few minutes' walks, you can cross the island spur and reach the shopping area and the commercial anchorage in Porto di Levante. Anchored in the magnificent bay of Porto Di Levante, on sandy soil (bright) and good grip on its northern part. Many commercial ferries should be considered in this bay, but it will be highly protected by northern and western winds. A tour of the active maw of the mountain (with a steady emission of sulfuric fumes), an hour's hike, led us to a spectacular view of the whole chain of islands to the north and Sicily to the south. The hike is a marked walk of about 800 meters. Near the Black Sand Beach, you can soak in mud pools and hot water bubbling from the ground and pay for the nearby showers. Near the centre of the life of Porto Di Levante, there is a supermarket next to it is a fruit and vegetable store. If necessary, get fuel only from the gas station using jerry cans. Scuba and paragliding enthusiasts will find active clubs. Rent a light car or scooter, you will be able to tour the island for about forty kilometres of paved roads leading to observation points where you can view all seven islands in the chain.
