I've never understood that rule and was actually quite embarrassed to show up late! Stress aside, Ryan and I discuss with your our transition from land-based to full-time cruisers, our sailboat and sailing equipment. Mostly, we wanted to hang out with the fantastic community that has built around this channel over the last 6 months, and answer as many questions as we could. NorYachts are proud to provide the market with this beautiful Baby Bootlegger Gentleman´s racer! River Breeze is constructed out of the Baby Bootlegger original work drawings. Current owner and builder have invested more than 5000 working hours completing this boat. He is an excellent craftsman who has been working with local boat manufacturer for decades. The Baby bootlegger fits in a container, and can be shipped world wide at low cost. Standard: The ribs are made from birch veneer, who is dressed by 3 layers of pinewood laid 45 degrees on top of another. At last it is a layer of mahogany. Everything is baked in epoxy. For the whole project, he used about 60kg of epoxy and 12 liters of clear coat. Construction: Designed by Georg Crouch, built by Henry Nevins, the construction of Baby Bootlegger was one of a kind. The sides of the mahogany hull were rounded of on the deck with a gradual change of curve from back to front. The advantages with the design was that it allows a light and strong hull with a minimum of air resistance. She was originally built with a V8 Hispano-Suiza engine, especially the licensed Wright-Hisso version. The popular «Hisso» was used in the Spad fighter plane during WW1. The owner, Caleb Bragg, was a successful racing driver, test pilot under WW1 and a skillful engineer. Engine: ENGINE CAN BE CHANGED ON BYERS REQUEST. Now she have a Rolls Royce Meteor V12, 27 liters that produces 600HP at 2500RPM! These engines were used in tanks like Cromwell, Comet and Centurion, and were produced by Rover from 1943 to 1964. Foram 145 milhas de Bar em Montenegro até Ereikoussa na Grécia, nossa segunda maior velejada, a primeira foi de Buzios a Ilha Grande ! Para nós quanto mais perto, melhor, até por isso resolvemos parar em Ereikoussa ao invés de Corfu, pois seria 20 milhas mais perto. A Ilha ja estava "desativada" pois acabou a temporada, mas aproveitamos para dormir e no dia seguinte seguimos para Corfu para resolver toda a documentação ! Tivemos uma surpresa, a Grécia permite que o capitão da embarcação tenha 6 meses de permanência no pais, o que normalmente é apenas 3 !! Surprise suprise, mas agora não muda nada haha pois já estamos decididos a invernar na Turquia ! Our longest offshore sail yet — We try to stay sane while chipping away at a 700-mile crossing from Tangier to Madeira. The contrasts from Gibraltar to Tangier were many. After a whirlwind few days, we are eager to be enveloped again in the serenity of endless blue horizons. Crew of three. Tangier to Madeira. Six days offshore. Time is passing quickly. Days and weeks slipping by, full of activities. We relish the space for introspection and reflection. Essential time to understand our experiences and ascribe meaning to our memories.
