When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

We finally starting to live the cruising life we dreamed of. Making friendship that will last a lifetime while we buddy boat with SV Talieson Rose, Manatee, Tioga, Mobert and other sailors. Explore and experience the Sea of Cortez in Mexico as we get our first Norte, big wind coming from the North. We drag anchor on our Catalina 34 again while 35 to 60 knots blows for 3 days. We meet of our favourite island so far, Isla San Francisco and spend almost a week hiking, snorkelling, spearfishing and hanging out with other Salts. In this sailing adventure s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) leaves Cape May on a bright sunny early morning and sails up the Delaware River to the Delaware canal. On the way we have an exciting sailing race with another yacht, who sneakily sailed passed us while we were enjoying breakfast! That race pumped some adrenaline into us, it was a brilliant sailing. We do miss racing! A non-eventful and pleasant passage through the C&D Canal (during which Glen kept busy polishing the barbecue!) into the upper reaches of the Chesapeake. By late afternoon we anchored off the tranquil town of Betterton on Sassafras River. We take a trip ashore to the quiet town and enjoy a walk along Betterton seafront and Betterton Beach. We were treated to a lovely sunset and peaceful evening, before sailing to Annapolis the following day. 30 Sep 2018

A lot of people have been asking us to put together a tour of our Nordhavn 40. The Nordhavns are very unique boats and are often described as Trawler Yachts or “Passagemakers”. Regardless of what you call it, the Nordhavn 40 is a super capable boat and has taken us all the way from Northern California to Alaska and back down the entire west coast of the US to Southern California so far. We thought about just carrying a camera through the boat and posting something 5 minutes long, but decided to put a little more effort into it and before long we had over an hour of footage to sort through. There are a lot of systems on these boats and a lot of things to show, so rather than cut out too much, we erred on the side of providing too much information. The tour is broken up into specific areas of the boat. The time has come, we're leaving the Caribbean to sail across the Atlantic towards Europe! Matt takes a minute to explain the situation with our watermaker, why it isn't working, and why we decide to leave anyway. Making a 12 mile sail from Simpson Bay on the south side of St. Martin, to Marigot Bay on the north side, we fill up our water tanks and get on our way. The first two days at sea are just spent getting into the swing of things, but by day 4 we find ourselves in the middle of the Bermuda/Azores high and have lost all our wind. It is a beautiful thing to be hundreds of miles from any land and have the water be glass calm around you. We take advantage of the calm by putting down our swim platform to take bucket baths off the back of the boat. With only 60 gallons of water to get us through 30 days of showers and dishes, we need to conserve it everywhere we can. Much love from the Atlantic Ocean!
