This custom catamaran was designed by John Shuttleworth, a leading high performance catamaran designer from England. He was contracted to design a fast, smooth, safe cat that would support the newest idea of self sailing rigging, the AeroRig®. The result is the Shuttleworth 52. She is constructed of Airex foam core, carbon fibers, Kevlar, E-glass, and Pro-set epoxy resin. Her length overall is 52'2" with a beam overall of 33'6". She has a draft of 2'10" with kickup rudders. One dagger board in the port hull raised and lowered from the cockpit. She is powered by twin 59 horsepower Volvo diesel engines with Sail Drives equiped with 3 blade full feathering and adjustabe pitch Stainless Steel props. Lots of room and easy access in the engine room, KE-4 electric engine controls and Jastram hydraulic steering. Her displacement is 16,500 and has a useful load of 10,000 lbs. Flush deck hatches, bow netting, and Ocean non-skid deck. The radar arch will handle radar and other things needed as the radar can not work very well on a rotating mast.
So were not sure if we should be doing this but if your interested in a fully sorted 29ft cruiser / racer that has had everything sorted out then get in touch. For those that dont know Sea Horse is a Hanse 291. She has an enormous sail wardrobe, excellent electronics, a top notch autohelm and just about all the items that you can think of that might need to be serviced on an older boat done! Including the standing and running rigging and seacocks just a couple of years ago We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Paytreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. https://www.paypal.me/TheFoxwellFamily And a big thank you to everyone that has supported us so far, its very much appreciated. Salty Thanksgiving! Celebrating on our boat, a deconstructed turkey and other festive challenges #28
Happy Salty Thanksgiving! This year, we have so many things to be thankful for: the possibility that we have to live great adventures on our sailboat, the fact that Ryan and I are sailing the world together, as well as the support that we get from our friends, family and this community doing so. As we celebrate Thanksgiving in Almerimar, Spain, we face a few challenges… First off, where to find a Turkey?! We end up buying our Turkey in parts (very Ikea-ish for the two adoptive Swedes that we are), which ends up fitting well in our tiny galley oven. This episode is starring Ryan’s mom, who I wake up on Thanksgiving day at 5AM every year, to ask her to send me a copy of her dinner rolls recipe. We tried to find and invite other Americans at the marina to celebrate with us, but our call on Almerimar’s VHF net leaves us “alone”. Thankfully, we had met some friends already, Mia and Scott from SV Tengah, and were joined by our South African buddy Marky. We had great fun together, and this Thanksgiving ended up being quite special, for all the good reasons! Oh, and if you are interested in the dinner rolls recipe... I have posted the photos that Ryan's mom sent me on our blog: www.ryanandsophie.com ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** GEAR ** ⛵️Our boat: Polar Seal, 2007 Beneteau Oceanis 40, owners version (2 cabins layout). Before the bent frames can be permanently fastened in place they need a final inspection, a coat of oil and their respective socket cleaned up and sealed. We show you how we are going through this process in this video. Also, we are launching another commemorative t-shirt campaign to help fund the costs of the upcoming systems that will need to be installed in Arabella once her hull is planked. We are also launching a newly revised logo depicting the gaff rigged Ingrid, called Stormy Petrel by Atkin. You can purchase one of these by clicking the following link: https://www.bonfire.com/acorn-to-arabella-stormy-petrel (All shirt should ship to the addresses in the continental U.S. in time for the holidays.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. This week you get to join us as we finally get some sailing on the Inside Passage! The wind takes us to Prince Of Wales Island, Alaska and some narrow channels where we forage sea asparagus. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter, January 2016, and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. The last of this season of The Old Seadog videos. Hope you enjoy this episode, lots of fun stuff and back at sea again! Now Im at sea crossing the Pacific filming a new 'Bigger adventure due for release early 2019. Make sure you have your notifications for this channel turned on so you don't miss the start! Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresof... Patreon https://www.patreon.com/adventuresofa... Instagram https://www.instagram.com/adventureso... Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over 3 days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Offshore sailing is a magical time and offers an opportunity to unwind, reflect and enjoy the incredible experience of bobbing on a relatively very tiny piece of fiberglass on the huge magnificent ocean. We are rarely disappointed by mother nature! If its not the sea surprising us, a glimpse up at the night sky usually does the trick. But often we hear from viewers that they love the idea of sailing but are not at all enamoured in passage making. Well we thought we would spell off some of the mystery. Most of the time passage making in these latitudes is awesome downwind sailing! In this episode we introduce you to some of the basics that go into making an offshore sailing. This particular passage we were rewarded by a crazy rare sighting from the monsters of the sea! But really we wanted to give you an introduction into some of the small details that go into everyday life when you are bobbing along on the ocean. Beautiful sailing session off the coast of Moroni with his inflatable sailboat. -------------------------- Subscribe for more Tiwal sailing videos : https://www.youtube.com/c/tiwal?sub_confirmation=1 Learn more about Tiwal and check out our Best Videos : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLp7rkGxzrxNpemhhNJ0kB8mHF9q0IZWBA -------------------------- ** The Tiwal 3 Sailboat ** The Tiwal 3 inflatable sailing dinghy comes in two bags that are easily transportable by car, boat and even by plane. This small inflatable sailboat is easily assembled in 20 minutes without any tools. Easy to handle, its sailing qualities will give you a thrilling experience. Very responsive, stable, and comfortable in light winds, the Tiwal 3 is dynamic in more challenging conditions. Whether you’re sailing solo or double-handed, it is perfect for your adventures at sea or on a lake! Boat of the Year Award | Best Innovation | by Sailing World U.S.A. "The thing was a blast. I couldn't believe how well it sailed. You could have some serious fun with this, especially in big breeze." -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide. Our Endeavour 32 sailboat is ready to sail. In this vlog, we tune the standing rigging with a Loos tension gauge, we get a new spray dodger, and we also discover an impromptu boat project that MUST be completed before we can sail. This was our LAST boat work trip. The next trip we make to the boat will be to load up and GO SAILING! Thanks for watching. OK, it's not boats however when I'm at shows many times we all discuss cars as I know many of you have a little something special sitting in the garage. So I present a quick complation of yet another passion of mine and that is performance motorsports. Here are three generations of Ford GT and GT 40's I filmed at the Palmer Motorsports Park in Palmer Massachusetts. The cars range from the super rare 1 of 50 Ford GT 40 Race Cars that started the whole marque to an original GT 40 used by Ford in promotions and to help style the next generation the 2005 series Ford GT. (There are two of those in the video!) And there's two 2015 series Ford GTs (2017 models) here too! Thanks to all the owners letting us play with your really special cars for a day! And special thanks to Palmer Motorsports Park for letting us have the run of the place. See the link for the full video at Mesh New England's new youTube channel.

This past two weeks our family drove from Texas to Utah and back again making it a 3000 mile road trip with kids! Was it worth it? We visited Zions National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Arches National Park, Four Corners, and Cadillac Ranch. We visited with family and saw old friends. Even when things don't go smoothly, it's always worth it! We are a family preparing to sail around the world in our electric sailboat.
