Thanksgiving weekend one of my best friends decided to make a surprise visit so having just completed installing a wireless windlass controller and also having inspected my anchor, chain and rode I wanted to spend a couple of hours on the hook to make sure everything was in top form. The air quality at our slip was at an all time low and to make it worse, the highways were closed and the Santa Ana winds were blowing with gusts up to 50. We were stuck and our plans to sail to the islands were ruined. However, we saw a weather window the following day and decided to sail up to Santa Barbara to get out of the thick of it. Just because you're in the middle of the ocean doesn't mean you can't have a little party! As we continue along on our trans-Atlantic, we leave the doldrums behind and start making miles. We get the occasional squall and showers, but otherwise it's all smooth sailing. Le mercredi 21 novembre 2018 nous nous sommes levés aux aurores à Concarneau pour préparer le Rebelle à accueillir son mât. L’équipe de Cornouaille Gréement maîtrisant bien son sujet, elle n’a eu aucune difficulté à viser en plein dans le mille 🎯 Le soleil étant de la partie en ce début de journée. Nous en avons profité pour faire plein de photos et une vidéo exceptionnelle prise du mât. Avant de lever le mât, nous avons placé une caméra sur son extrémité. Lors de la manipulation avec la grue, nous pouvons admirer la vue sur Concarneau qui s’offre à nous petit à petit. Le moment le plus difficile a été le passage du roof et la mise en place du mât dans son socle. Une fois cette étape réalisée, nous avons pu installer les cordages. C’est à ce moment que la caméra a été heurtée et s’est décalée mais heureusement, elle est restée fixée en haut du mât. 15 mètres de haut ce n’est pas rien ! Vincent de chez Cornouaille gréement est ensuite monté au sommet pour installer la girouette, récupérer la caméra et a même pris le temps de nous faire un petit panoramique sur Concarneau. Merci Vincent ! L’équipe a ensuite pris les côtes pour la fabrication du gennaker et des focs.

Tra vele spiegate e delfini a farci compagnia, in una settimana abbiamo fatto circa 400 miglia nautiche e abbiamo oltrepassato il confine italiano, la prima grande emozione per noi!! Ça y est, nous y sommes, à Nosy Be pour le séjour scientifique et pour assister les chercheurs dans la récolte de données sur le plus gros poissons du monde à n'avoir jamais existé : le requin baleine Après quelques jours de formation, nous apprenons à reconnaître les requins baleine et devenons plus efficace.
