In this episode we have a look at Brampton Island and the abandoned resort. We also recount memories of the island in it's heyday and a mysterious murder that was solved by DNA many years later, making it the first murder to be solved in this manner in Australia.

The reason for hauling out had been a tiny little hole in my aft cabin below the water line. At the same time, we wanted to try and fix the hole in my diesel tank. To reach said hole, I had removed a stainless steak water tank which had revealed a whole bunch of lead bars. I had feared that there would be some corrosion hiding below those bars which is why I had not tried to remove them in the water...I guess, this precaution was a clever move...but see yourself... An exhilarating sail from Montserrat brings us to St. Kitts for New Year celebrations and exploring. s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) leaves Montserrat, the island with the active volcano, and sails to St.Kitts & Nevis. We depart Little Bay in Montserrat with strong trade winds on our beam, up to 25knots, and we take it easy with reefed main and genoa. After passing the Antiguan island of Redonda, a bare rock sitting 300m out of the sea, the wind further strengthens, and we are soon heavily reefed as it gusts to well over 30kts. We anchor behind Nevis for the night then head to St.Kitts where we suspect New Year Eve activity will be more lively. After checking in at the main town of Basseterre on St.Kitts we anchor for 8 days in the calm waters in the south of the island next to Salt Plage beach bar, near the newly constructed Christophe Harbor. This is where we have a good night out to bring in the new year of 2019. We have a rental car for 3 days to thoroughly explore the sites and hotels on this island. In the north we visit the famous Brimstone Hill Fortress and Arthur’s beach bar. In the south, where the nicest beaches are, we visit The Pavilion, Turtle Beach, Cockleshell Beach and all its beach bars from Reggae Beach to the recently open Park Hyatt Hotel. Then in the middle the Marriott Hotel and the funky beach bars in South Frigate Bay, the Shipwreck bar being the best. However, there is also a very active yacht building industry in Germany producing both power and sailing yachts that offer great value for money and are achievable to a far larger demographic. When I researched this vlog I was surprised to learn that many of these builders belong to the same Group of companies. This vlog takes a look at Hanse Group, and some of the wonderful craft that they build. We actually did it, we registered for ARC 2019 and we're going to cross the Atlantic on our Lagoon 52S. Not a big deal you think? For somebody who desperately wanted to see land at all times it's a major step. Now anything can happen. How did it get to this point? See our intro and the steps we took so far.

Last preparations for the crossing of Atlantic with ARC. Amazing feeling when 205 boats starting at the same time. 2850 nm in almost 17 days. We fish a lot and get many Mahi mahi and different Tunas. We realy have to thanks ARC for a great Rally. we got so many new friends from all over the world. The help and charing knowledge in Las Plamas was great. and the huge Welcome when we arrived in Saint Lucia was amazing. Hope you enjoy

For me it’s the people you meet and the time you spend getting to know a place that makes the experiences special. With travel you can tick of the “must see” locations, or the highest rated restaurants and bars, or stay in coolest hotels as many as you can fit in a trip. But as we keep learning, an area does not open its self up to you quickly and only happens after genuine connections with the locals. We have been spending quite a bit of time the past few weeks in Moorea and met a positive, smiling, passionate local lady, Laurence Anzai and her equally cool family. Laurence runs a café – Lilikoi Garden Café Moorea, a Deli, a hiking group, yacht services, event catering and now she is looking to start a Local Food Tour! Like me, Laurence is passionate about local organic produce, sustainable farming and great notorious food. So she invited Barry, Cyn and myself to be her very first participants on her Moorea Food Tour. We had so much fun, learnt about local farming, cultural traditions in Polynesia, where to source our produce along the way and finished the day with a cooking class and enjoying the delicious creations in a stunning location. We continue cruising Southbound along the Atlantic ICW as we leave Eau Gallie Yacht Basin, stop at Pine Island, then Fort Pierce, and finally arrive at a really cool anchorage called Peck Lake. While in Ft Pierce, we had a really cool visit with a few of our fans. It's really humbling to have folks enjoy our videos enough that they want to see MORE of us. Well - maybe it's just the ladies. Surely, it can't be the weirdo. We also had a good chance to get to know our new homemade dinghy a little better. We're really enjoying it so far and it's proving to be a very useful, multi-purpose tender. Finally, we wrap up the video with our arrival in Peck Lake. REALLY cool anchorage! The beach is just on the other side of a 100 yard wide spit of land, and the anchorage is really well protected as well. Oh yeah! We also got to meet up with Billy and Sierra from Tula's Endless Summer while at Peck Lake. Much more to come about that little visit in a future video. :) Thanks for watching!!
