This week we tackle a problem that has been facing us for a little while now. We have had in the stateroom ceiling just on the outside of the mast opening in the deck. I had thought that when we had the deck glassed it would solve the issue and it certainly slowed it down. But it was still leaking a little. In this first part of a 2 part video series, we will show how we determined where the problem was, discuss our options and settle on a path forward. From there it was starting to do the work. In this video (part 1) we prepare the surface for a glass repair, epoxy fill some gaps in the mast plate base and take all the steps to get ready to lay the glass (Part 2 is where we lay the glass down and see our results) Also in this video, we have to tow our dinghy to a local boat ramp to pull her out and get ready for some maintenance work. We ran into a really odd situation with a good Samaritan. I know this guy was just trying to help and he didn't do any real damage, but it was frustrating. The irony of this is he is the one that got all annoyned. See what he did and listen to the crazy things he was saying. I suppose he didn't see the camera mounted on the car capturing the whole thing :) (As a side note, this person referred to himself as a "CoonAss", not my words but this is a cajun reference to growing up rural and on the Bayou) How to fiberglass, How to stop a leak, how to service your mast step, Keel Stepped Mast maintenance, Dinghy, Zodiak, Good Samaritan, unwanted help, Whats got it, coonass, Crazy Cajun, Not helpful, Don't forget to like and share this video Please check out our other videos as well and click on the playlist below for a couple we think you may enjoy. Hey guys, we're back after an incredible break for us but our videos will continue right where we left off... Which is in Antigua. We spent an amazing week anchored off Jacky O's restaurant with mostly the beach to ourselves and then partied with our Ozy friends in English Harbour. Shirley Heights is the perfect place to watch the sunset but get there early to get a good spot and you MUST try the ribs, they're to die for! Upon leaving Antigua Dave decided to see if he could race some other boats into St Barts in our 20 tonne cruising catamaran and to be fair he didn't do too bad but most likely, the other participants in the race had no idea he was racing them ;) We'll do our best to post more regular videos from now on.... hopefully ;) FYI, this video is January 2018. Love Hayley, Dave and baby Ayla.

(Ep.61) We get started restoring & making our Volvo Stern Drive look fancy schmancy again! She was definitely neglected & needed some good ol loving & now she looks brand new again! Can't wait to get her installed! We also took apart our engine so we could remove her off the boat without needing to bring in a crane.... she was still heavy as hell but with some help from our marina friends we got her down in no time. She will be getting the necessary TLC she needs to ensure she gives us many safe miles on her if need be. Thanks for watching! Appreciate all the kind comments, thumbs up & subscribes! Sailboat Racing, Sunset Horn Blasting, and Partying on the Strip in Put-In Bay!! This week we continue our Put In Bay series up on Lake Erie. After some challenging racing in fluky winds, we bring the J-24 Orange Whip back in in the pouring rain. But the clouds crack open and Loren and I explore the island via the slowest golf cart in the world. Including the world famous "Shiphouse" erected from one of Henry Ford's ships...very cool. Then of course it's time to hit the bars - the favorite passtime of most who frequent the island. And we survived!! Enjoy!! And be sure to SUBSCRIBE for WEEKLY CONTENT EVERY FRIDAY! Cheers!! Part 5 of a series: Sailing Miami to Key West. We anchor the sailboat at Beer Can Island, aka Raccoon Island in north Miami. Raccoons are so brave (and hungry) that they will swim to boats and climb on board. Ashley and I reminisce about a previous adventure at Cabbage Key when we had raccoons in our boat while we were sleeping.

We loved exploring Carricou, Petit Martinique and Union Islands in the Grenadines. Picture perfect beaches, fires on shore with friends, catching and cooking crayfish and a sunset dinghy party exploring Carricou's mangrove oyster beds are memory makers for sure! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Especially if you are interested in doing something crazy like we are! Maybe we can help answer some questions you have? Thanks and enjoy.

After arriving and setting up I launch by 12 noon for the hour sail to Tin Mine Cove, a lovely anchorage for wind from the south west to the north east. I exit corner inlet on an outgoing tide with varying wind suitable for sailing. I arrive at Refuge Cove around 3 hours after departing. Picture perfect as always, I spend the rest of the day and the next exploring the cove and surrounding walks to North refuge beach to the north and Kersops Peak to the south. A wonderful trip and highly recommended.

Dennis Webster built his 37-foot plywood catamaran ‘Catalyst’ for just $27,000 and then set off with his family to sail from New Zealand to the Pacific Islands, Guam, Japan and Alaska before sailing down the west coast of Canada and the USA and westward across the Pacific on a 3 year journey packed full of adventures and crazy stories. From frozen fuel, to working on fishing trawlers out of Dutch Harbour, to being hit by 60 knots at anchor, being arrested, a whale collision that almost caused a capsize, this family of five had the adventure of a lifetime on a tiny budget. Anker PowerCore 26800 https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01JYL3IF4/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_xaQqCb68XHK8K
