Heading to Greece from Australia to survey a sailboat in hopes to purchase, only to find out its falling apart!!!! After looking at hundreds of Sailboats we narrowed it down to a few we liked and then decided on a Beneteau Oceanis 473 on an island just outside of Athens was worth spending the money to fly out and survey. Once there it turned out to need a lot more work than anticipated, and decided against the purchase. All ends well though after we stumbled across an amazing Beneteau oceans 46 in Malta which we end up buying in the next video! We're in Bora Bora and our expectations are HIGH. We're going on a walkabout to hit-up some of the most popular things to do on the island. But can Bora Bora live up to its reputation? The best hike-to view, a majestic banyon tree, an amazing local parfume shop and boutique, homemade ice cream stand, the most beautiful beach and of course the best local lunch place to have a bite. After chatting with the people at the Visit Bora Bora tourist stand our expectations were set to a level that we should have realized was unobtainable. Was it a total fail? No, not even close. We had a wonderful time exploring the south end of Bora Bora and we cooled off with a snorkel surrounded by curious fish. For our next adventure we'll keep our expectations at a normal level, that way we'll be pleasantly surprised no matter what we see. BTW - YES it was really, really hot and humid. In this episode; We're leaving Belize and setting sail for Guatemala. Our friends the Haines from Vancouver Island have joined us for the trip and after a really great day of sailing we drop the anchor at Trés Puntas, the staging anchorage for our next days entry into Guatemala. But the next day things change drastically for the crew of Saltair3 and it's a stressful trip with near zero visibility as we sail across Honduras Bay, to the anchorage at the town of Livingston, where the customs and immigration offices are located. After a month in Antigua it was time to set sail to another couple islands. Before making our way to St. Marteen, we couldn't miss the opportunity to meet up with our buddy Trevor and his crew in St. Kitts. The timing couldn't have been better to spend a few fun days with a great hometown friend while of course make new ones. We then continue to sail on another long stretch of sea to the isolated mountain of an island called Saba, sticking straight out from the ocean shore for a single night before lifting the sails first thing the next morning to St. Marteen. All covering 4 islands, 3 barracudas, 1 dorado and the 80 nautical miles along the way. Then sailing to St. Marteen, where we first arrived just a year prior on our way to the purchase and transport the boat, we explore the still devastated rubble of the hurricane, now an underwater graveyard to many lost boats. Here we visit Maho beach and get jet blasted by the incoming planes with our friends, make final French provisions, meet many new incredible people and prepare for our first overnight longest passage to date. 12 hours to sail from St. Marteen to Tortola where we meet up with some more hometown friends for a week in the BVIs.

The world under sail: In episode 10 you will accompany us on our trip in the south of Mallorca. We visit Cabrera and show you the beauty of the island as well as the booking, without which you are not allowed to enter the island. View over the Farm - Nipe Adventure - EP 24 The first week we start to plan what we must do on the farm, build pig house and buy pigs. Clean up land so we can do rice so we have food for the pigs and chicken, make sure we get water out on the coconut plantation.
Quick live stream while out for a sail to give you guys a feel for it. As you can see, we had a nice steady 12-15 knots and we were close hauled. The boat is nicely balanced so the helm doesn't need much attention. The quality of the video is pretty poor as we didn't have great service due to being a few miles offshore.
Explore with us the Klias river in Borneo (between Kota Kinabalu and Labuan in Malaysia. Our sailing trimaran went over 15 miles into the river where we spent one overnight. Best time to explore the jungle sides are early morning or late afternoon to see the wildlife. It is harder and harder to spot wildlife as agriculture is taking over the wild jungle and humans compete for the same resources. We explored another 8 miles by small dinghy, passing a small settlement that caters to seasonal tourists.Filmed in October 2018.

The Galapagos islands are on many people's bucket lists and now we know why! We have never been anywhere where the wildlife is so tame and prolific. Its like staying in the most amazing free aquarium. Diving amidst sharks, sea fish and turtles, snorkeling with playful sea lions, huge marine iguanas that swim, not to mention all the bird life, crabs and lizards and most of that is in the anchorage and town. San Cristobel was an amazing island to explore and our week here defies description - watch and enjoy! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Especially if you are interested in doing something crazy like we are! Maybe we can help answer some questions you have? Thanks and enjoy.

Well, two gallons of Expanding Foam just wasn't enough for our boat, so we had to wait for another order. We ordered it through Amazon, but at the price we get it, it's not prime. Now that the foam is done it is on to sanding the boat floor in this Bayliner bowrider. We hoped this and our last video helped, now on to finish the floor and prepare for paint. We still have a lot to do to finish our restore of this boat, but this is a big milestone. Stay with us as we work on the windows, engine and other systems that don't work. If fact we don't think anything on this boat was working when we got it. Follow along as we breath new life into this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider. This will become part of our big dreams series and we progress to living off the grid and exploring the world. We have learned a lot from this project that will help us for future adventures. We finally travel to Greifswald to pick up Aurora, our new Hanse 418. We leave for Germany together with Torbjörn from Bohus Yachts Sweden, who will be doing the handover and helping us getting the last things done. For Tanja it’s the first time she will see the boat and it’s an emotional day. In Greifswald we still have a lot to do before we are ready to start our journey north to Stockholm; stern anchor needs to be fitted, sprayhood and cockpit tent needs to be put up and checked, and a couple of last runs to the boat store for more stuff. We chose a sprayhood and cockpit tent from the Swedish company Kapell & Annat as from the research we did, they seemed to deliver the best quality. We were really happy with our choice. link: https://kapell-annat.se/ Instagram: sailing_yacht_aurora

This year the crew of SV Avocet had the opportunity to participate in the Home Port Regatta, a fun race for cruisers and liveaboards pulled together by cruisers and liveaboards! The best part about it is all the proceeds benefitted the Channel islands Wildlife Institute. Although the wind was not in our favor, it was a fun sail with fun people and we can not wait for next year. Enjoy this little recap of us struggling to fill our sails and get in the groove of racing our Cheoy Lee 41, Avocet instead of our usual "race boat" the Victory 21.

This week we go on a romantic cave swim with flesh eating shrimp!! We pick up anchor at Lee Stocking and head out the cut, we have to do lots of tacking but we make it through the ok, watching the waves crashing on the reef as we pass through. Our next stop is Little Farmers Cay here in the Exumas. As always, when we are sailing we have to be super adaptable of what the wind is doing and change plans accordingly. We like to say we have ideas not plans. Instead of taking Farmer’s Cay Cut, closer to the anchorage, we decide to take Gulliot Cut because it is getting later in the day. To our pleasant surprise, after an easy sail through the cut, the conditions on the Caribbean side are way more favorable than in the Atlantic side. We pick up to seven knots and fly on into Little Farmer’s Cay with time to spare before the sunset. We hop into the water just a shot dinghy ride from the boat. It was a small reef, but full of life. We spotted some grouper, a barracuda, an albino stingray, lots of colorful reef fish and an eel hiding along the reef. After we finish up the dive, we hike up to a lens pool cave. BUT first we need to find it. We search and search, take in the amazing sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and FINALLY stumble onto the cave. We head in and it was gorgeous. Lots of stalactites dripping fresh water into the pools of water beneath them. This is the first cave we have been in with pools of water that you can swim. We decide to get in… but unaware to us, during this romantic swim, we were going to be rudely interrupted by some shrimp nipping at us. Even with the shrimp, we highly recommend this cave! If you are new to sailing/cruising or plan to be soon, the most important lesson you can take from our experience is to buy the biggest and best anchor you can afford, and learn how to secure it WELL! The squall in this video was over 60kts with a 180 degree wind reversal... not fun! When I chose my Mantus 105lb anchor from Mantus Marine it was because it had the best tested track record for resetting itself in extreme conditions due to the shape and distribution of weight at the tip of the anchor... todays situation affirmed in my mind that this was a good decision. You will all have to make decisions that your boat and/or lives may depend on, so make sure and base them on the best and most recent information available. You can find information on our anchor choice at: http://www.MantusMarine.com Safe sailing everyone. See what happens when Ryan encourages some girl friends of ours to expand their free diving limits. Blacking out is one of the most dangerous risks of free diving but it is a risk that can be mitigated with proper training, experience, and technique. The dangers of loosing consciousness while free diving is even more pronounced while practicing breath hold diving in the remote areas we visit while sailing. But when everything goes well free diving is one of the most pure and beautiful ways to move through the ocean world. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love
Train Street is a REALLY unique street on the edge of the Old Quarter in Hanoi! It's an experience you do NOT want to miss - basically it's a track that runs down a narrow street lined by residences, bars, and cafes. The people watching is amazing and sipping a beer or coffee while doing so makes the time fly by...until the train arrives. We watched the train in two different locations. Our first spot was in the less touristy area which means the train gets a lot closer to you. In some areas, if you are not "one with the wall", you will get hit by the train! It comes THAT close. The locals are great about warning you to stand back or move. The second location we watched the train from was the more touristy area. There is more space between you and the train. Make sure you walk to the area where there are no cafes and it's just real life for the local people. #china #chinalifestyle #chinalife #qingdao #trainstreet #train #vietnam NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story.
