Join Peter and Tom sailing California, Mexico and the Sea of Cortez! In this episode, we encounter rough seas and breaching whales on our journey into the Sea of Cortez toward La Paz! Peter and Tom are gay sailors who learned to sail relatively recently in the San Francisco Bay, before casting off the lines to cruise Mexico and sail around the world! You liked this video? Why not subscribe to our channel so you wont miss the next episodes released every Thursday? Your support would mean the world to us :) It is time to prepare our sailboat for the Atlantic crossing! First actions on the list? Installing AIS and Radar. For the AIS we choose the AIS 700, perfect for sailboats of our size and easily installable. For the radar we choose the Quantum Radar from Raymarine, which was a bit bigger than expected and caused some delays in our plan due to an unfitting radar mount. Check out this video to see the problems we encountered during the installation and what you should avoid when doing the installation of radar and AIS. Want to know who we are? Building a cruising sailboat This week is all about the start of the fitting out of the heads (toilet and wash basin). The floor is sealed down, the doorway is framed, the worktops are fitted, the opening for the wash basin is cut and a load of general planning and head scratching is done :-). I also discover a simple way to charge Bosch 12v cordless tools on board.  This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat, constructed of plywood and epoxy. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. It's time to sail to Israel!! We have a lot of fun, catch a big fish and are welcomed by an israeli gunboat. We hebben het goed naar onze zin deze tocht, vangen een grote vis en worden verwelkomd door een schip met kanonnen erop van de Israëlische marine. Watch as we take little Swirl to the boat yard, haul her out and replace a couple 1977 thru-hulls! To clarify a couple point. I know that how the thru-hulls look in the last clip above ground is very concerning. I received some further guidance and had mis-communicated the intended mounting situation to the person who was giving me help. After the last clip outside the boat looking at the thruhulls, I removed a lot of the excess 5200 and faired over it with structural fairing compound while the 5200 was still wet. That was the final, un-filmed solution. Please subscribe, we're still working out way to the first 100 subs! Help us out and be a part of this milestone.

Tour a 23 year old class C motorhome and get a taste of the full time RV lifestyle. We've remodeled this RV set it up as a boondocking machine so we can stay off grid for long periods of time. That way we save a TON of money by avoiding expensive campgrounds. Even though our RV isn't perfect, we're very pleased with how it turned out and we're having a blast taking it on a cross country road trip. In this pre - Atlantic crossing sailing adventure episode it’s all about sewing the last parts and setting up our DIY bimini for our Vindö 45 which was quite tricky because our traveller seperates the cockpit in two halves. Sailing below the Teide we first reached the lush green island La Gomera and after that La Palma. Join us our island expeditions to learn more about the whistle language El Silbo, join us on hikes in the “green sponges”, the lush green subtropical rainforests where fairytales might come true when the fog clears up, to have unbelievable views on unique landscapes.

In this episode we sail from Glada laxen to Själö just south of Turku, Finland. We had a fantastic sail over there reaching speeds of 9 knots. Nickolai caught 2 Perch fish, which we ate for breakfast, I try to setup a snubber and I fail slightly. Editing this one reminds me of a great summer and awesome times when we were sailing over there. Have a great weekend! Cheers, Chris and Tanja

This is a somewhat in-depth review of the boat work that went into preparing our sailboat for a paint job and then the application of EMC Quantum 45 2-Part Marine Epoxy Primer. We show you the DIY steps we took to apply this primer with rollers, and the sanding we had to do to smooth it and prepare for the topcoat paint. This may look a bit like a repeat of our Episode 25, but it is not! It is simply an expanded view of the process for the DIY crowd who follows our Boat Work series. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We can't produce quality inspirational content indefinitely without the support of our fans. This is a complete walkthrough of this beautiful 40 ft classic cruising yacht. It is 15 minutes but completely justified because this boat needs to be seen to be believed. It has been meticulously kept which you will see in every frame of this walkthrough. The Passport is not a common boat in Australia, so it is worthy of consideration and inspection. It may not be a boat that is currently on your list but it may well tick all your boxes.

"Come on over to our sailboat we have SUPER fast Internet, even in the middle the ocean!!!" Is something I never thought I would say. But here we are in a brave new world with satellites zooming overhead beaming internet down from space. And now we're literally catching these space beams with a very fancy, very shiny computer controlled gimbaled bit of hardware and using it to stay connected and work remotely. Both at sea and in the far corners of the globe! In this video we'll show how we installed and configured the components and system to work on SV Delos :) So how did this all come about? Well like most good ideas it involved a few beers.... At the Southampton boat show I met a very cool guy named Bill. It turns out Bill is a sailor and watches our videos. It also turns out that Bill leads a team at Viasat Maritime. After quite a few scheming sessions we figured out a system that could deliver high speed broadband internet to a sailboat the size of Delos. In fact Bills major concern was how would having this type of internet all the time affect life on board? Knowing we cherish our offline time at sea. My answer- well it does have an off switch right?!? 😜So we began a pilot project with Viasat to prove the concept, which will lead to affordable systems for sailors and those wanting to untether themselves work as true digital nomads wherever you find yourself. Right now these systems are still in their trial phase, however If you'd like to learn more about the technology and what's available you can visit maritime.viasat.com or contact them directly at sales@maritime.viasat.com . After installing the new internet super dome Brady and Alex begin their adventures off Delos in the snowy mountains of California for a season of Snowboarding! Sending Lot's of Love and hope you guys enjoy the video.- Capt. Brian, Kazza, and The Little Nugget If you enjoyed the video please let us know by LIKING IT! Well, it's finally that time! Our trip to Costa Rica has come. We've been planning on this for a long time. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out for both of us to go. So Steve stayed back to get us ready for our planking party and I travelled down with Jack, Kit, Anne and Andrew to then meet up with Med for the basic blacksmithing course we planned to put on. We've put a lot of energy into making this happen and it felt really good to finally be putting that plan into motion. We also could not have pulled this off without the help of everyone involved. Not only did Jack and Med pull off a great class, but we had so much help from everyone to get ready. I can't name everyone here but thank you to everyone at the shipyard, especially Dylan and Mariel for the planning, charcoal making and translation! On top of the course there was so much going on at the shipyard. We watched a frame go up right after we arrived, which was really impressive to see everyone working together to make such big pieces go into places with what seemed so little effort. In this video we give you a little taste of the work down there but there is still more to come. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in finding more information about the SAILCARGO project, the build of Ceiba and or about becoming an investor or shareholder, you can find that here: https://www.sailcargo.org/ And if you would like more information the non-profit association, AstilleroVerde, their Costa Rican shipyard association which focuses on providing interactive workshops and hands-on apprenticeship opportunities to the local and international community, you can find that here: https://www.astilleroverde.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. We take a break from the boat and head inland to Antigua! It's a colonial mountain town that hosts a LOT of nut salesmen! I know, weird! We also let you know that this little trip was also due to the fact that we have to fly out for work for 3 weeks, BUT don't worry as you watch this we are already back to the boat prepping to set sail...the beauty of pre-editing and scheduling video launches ;) 🥬Become a Paid Subscriber and Help Us Out: https://www.thelitzenbergers.com/help-us-out 🎧Listen to our Podcast! https://www.thelitzenbergers.com/podcast-1 👍🏻Our Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Litzenbergers/ 📷Our Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sailing_litzenbergers/

We've released this from Patreon by popular demand!... This is a much longer version of the interview with Paul, Debbie and Amelie on board their Helia 44, Wild Odyssey. It includes a full boat tour, above and below decks. They are inspirational first time Australian sailors who bought their boat after watching YouTube sailing videos and deciding they wanted the adventure. They had a 10 year plan to learn to sail and retire on the boat, but after their youngest daughter Amelie said she wanted to go and she didn't mind home schooling they just went for it! Flying from their native Australia to La Rochelle in France they were then faced with a maiden voyage across the Bay of Biscay! Amelie has produced her own vide about life on board their boat, link here... https://youtu.be/R7Li9abOqfM Patreon: If you enjoy our videos please consider becoming a Patreon. We constantly upload extra video's for Patreons including Technical videos, extended versions of interviews and boat tours, and much more on our life aboard. https://www.patreon.com/sailingfairisle Follow along on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/svfairisle/?... And there's lots more information and videos on our website: http://www.sailingfairisle.com/index.html If you've enjoyed this please support us by subscribing Please subscribe : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjJH0fF_wXUjARGD-SZfHIQ?sub_confirmation=1 OUR ADVENTURE: We are sailing slowly around the world in our classic cutter rigged sailboat 'Fair Isle'. With the children leaving home we decided to sell our house in the UK and buy a boat in Holland. After two years refitting our Hans Christian 48T we have now set off a world voyage. We are retiring early because we want to attempt this voyage in good health and while we're fit and strong enough to really enjoy it. We will have to work a bit as we go until we can draw our pensions and we honestly don't know how well that will work. In our real lives we are journalists and filmmakers so it was only natural for use to document our travels by filming the journey. We aim to produce a professional standard vlog of the whole trip and try to give the viewer a real insight into what it's like to live and travel on a 48 foot sailboat. Our first aim is to sail South. After a winter getting iced in on the Markermeer in the Netherlands Judy insisted on warmer weather! So if you start from Episode 1 you will see us setting off from Eastbourne in the UK and travelling along the South Coast to Plymouth to enter a rally called ARC Portugal. Our first goal is to reach the Mediterranean and that means sailing across the infamous Bay of Biscay. This was a very good test for our boat as the bay lived up to it's fearsome reputation and split the whole fleet with a force 10 storm. Storm Miguel cut through our path and meant we had to run to mainland Spain to escape the massive seas and fearsome winds. Six boats couldn't make it in time and spent several very uncomfortable days at sea. The fleet had several broken boats, but thankfully no injured people. And this was just Episode 2! The excitement continued for the rest of our trip to the Med. Dolphins played in our bow wave, we sampled fantastic local foods and wines, great port in Porto! We found some beautiful anchorages and visit some wonderful historic places like Lisbon in Portugal, Cadiz in Spain and the fascinating port of Gibraltar. We will show you what it's like to winter in the Mediterranean, how much it all costs and give hints and tips on where to go how to save money with your boat and the places you stay. We are also talking to other sailors. After years of broadcasting journalism we know how to get peoples stories and we regularly film other sailors to show their boats and lifestyle as well as ours. We can always learn from others. Our long term plan is to spend a few years in the Mediterranean, on our list of place we want to visit are; Mallorca, Malta, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Italy, Tunisia, to name but a few! When we feel we've seen the best of what the Med has to offer we will cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean, we are hoping we can fit in a trip to the Azores on the way. We have no idea how long we might want to stay in the Caribbean but we do intend to have at least one excursion up the Eastern seaboard of the United States to visit the wonderful sailing areas of Florida, Virginia, sailing Meccas such as Chesapeake bay and hopefully get all the way up to New York. Of course the South Pacific is somewhere every sailor wants to go and will be a real draw for us. So going through the Panama canal will be a real milestone and we really look forward to having the big doors shut behind us and sailing into the biggest sailing playground of all! #sailingfairisle

In Exuma Land and Sea National Park. Johnny Depp's island. Snokel over tha Aquarium and a crashed drugs plane. Testing the hookha diving system. Encounters with wildlife. From the beautiful Warderick Wells moorings we have an upwind sail on the Exuma bank then wiggle our way through channels and shoals to anchor in the shelter of O’Brien’s Cay. Here we snorkel over The Aquarium, view a crashed drugs plane and dinghy around Johnny Depp’s island. We then move to Cambridge Cay park moorings. Here we again explore the exquisite surroundings by dinghy: walking on an exposed sand bar, having encounters with wildlife (rays, snakes, sharks) and strolling on picture perfect and deserted beaches. We also try out our new Hookha airline dive system to repair the rudder and experiment with the GoPro bubble that can focus the camera both above and below the water at the same time. 24-28 Jan 2020

A rare marina stop for Florence means boat life in the city. Exploring the 2nd Largest City and the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. The diverse culture of Penang was an intriguing stop for us and we enjoyed exploring the city whilst also preparing Florence to cross the Indian Ocean. Out of the cities that we have seen in Malaysia this was by far our favourite for culture, interest and spectacle. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Hello Friends, This is a "Bonus Episode" to show you guys some excitement we had last sunday onboard The Black Lotus. If you are a regular subscriber you will remember our video from a few weeks about where we brought this beautiful and in need of TLC 1965 Cheoy Lee Offshore 26 "Frisco Flyer" from Marina del Rey to Los Angeles Harbor : https://youtu.be/DXnH51ajDfQ Well all of our schedules finally lined up so Dyer and Kristen (and their sweet dog Remy) they new owners and new sailors of the boat, Camille and myself took the Black Lotus out for a fun day of Sail Training behind the breakwater. The winds were only blowing about 4 to 6 knots but that was plenty of wind for us to get this little boat moving with a big 155 handed on. Dyer and Kristen are new to sailing and eager to learn and they both did great as I gave them instructions from the bow and Camille stayed in the cockpit explain line handling as we tacked in the harbor and explored various points of sail. Once we got back to the dock was when all the excitement started. The head on the boat was stuck so I grabbed some olive oil from Triteia and took apart the handle and plunger and got it working. After I put it back together I went to take off the salt water in to see if we had water flow and as my knuckle touched the elbow on the waste out thru-hull we heard a strange sound and water started pouring in the boat. The electrolysis corrosion was so bad the wall of the bronze elbow was as thin as tissue paper. I quickly plugged the hole and we started filming. We saw Anse Source d'Argent, and then went on to find an even better beach in the Seychelles! Watch this video and judge for yourself! Is this the Seychelles islands best beach? Or do you prefer Anse Source d'Argent? While we were on holiday in Praslin, Seychelles, we visited La Digue for a day. La Digue is home to the most photographed beach in the world, Anse Source d'Argent. It had a beautiful shallow lagoon with turqoise water, lined by those beautiful big rocks that are so typical for the Seychelles best beaches. But then we went back for another holiday in the Seychelles and visited one of the Sister Islands. Grande Soeur island. There we found an even more beautiful beach than Anse Source d'Argent. Perfectly white sand, a lush green jungle as backdrop, perfectly clear turquoise water and again those big Seychelles Rocks lining the beach on both sides. Come along to explore some of these most beautiful beaches on earth! The video shows you images of both Anse Source d'Argent and also the even better beach at the Sister Islands nearby. So you can compare for yourself. Have you been to Anse Source d'Argent yourself? It would be great to hear about your experience. Be sure to leave me a comment to tell me all about it!
