Nouvelle Chaine en Français : @danietmarv https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChdsCViFctCvZiWUxhygMeA Join this channel to benefit from exclusive advantages: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9XiCcxajVjd1FIyeoeNEGA/join Welcome, Welcome to this beautiful episode. I can sincerely say that this is my favorite so far. We survived to Gloria, We came back from Serbia, and we are back to some serious sailing again. In this episode you will see how we spent our last days in Aguadulce (Spain), our winter shelter. We prepare our sailboat for further adventures. We menage to finish everything, to fit all of our « vehicles » in the storage cabin that this Beneteau sailboat offers. With one hour of delay we begin again to move on this voyage around the world. I missed this nomad lifestyle, and when the sun rises the next morning over the sea, I will be even more sure of my feeling. The feeling when you love exploring new places, living exciting moments and learning new things every day. This feeling. So…why is this my very favorite episode? Well, we were very lucky to discover a beautiful show that Mother Nature put on for us. Incredible creatures that we met on our way, dolphins. We all know them, maybe we saw them, but…live this moment…leaves me clearly without words. These are the so-called pilot whales, and I find that they moved with such grace and dignity, they were perfect. I leave you enjoy their appearance without putting further words on the indescriptible. Thanks for catching, we’ll be back next week!

In this week’s episode, we capture a few intimate moments about living in a boatyard, sanding successes, botched repairs, and possibly a YouTube first with an onboard mini-split ac unit. The Successes: - Amanda was able to sand the entire inside of one hull this last week, having a total of about 10 man-hours! - We were able to remove the tarp from the cabin. - The AC unit kept up on a near 90 degree day! - Fixed the shower with a headband. The Fails: - John miscalculated the panel repair from our last episode and had to cut part of it to try again. - One of the windows wasn’t completely sealed and leaked on the bed during a storm, and almost happened a second time before we sealed it. - John bought the wrong size angle grinder pads . . . again! More on the AC: So we decided to put a mini-split ac unit on our boat for several reasons, a few including: - Extreme efficiency, our unit (22 Seer Pioneer 12000BTU 110v mini-split) draws about 360W on it’s max cooling setting . . . NICE! Other portable AC units can use as much as 1200W, which would force us to run a generator daily to bridge the difference in our solar production. - Portability, which is really important when you do not know what the final layout of your space will be. In our case, we may chose to move the AC to a completely different part of the boat before we finish, which would not work for a marine AC system. - DIY Friendly and takes less than a day to put together, pretty self-explanatory. - Noise, there is none! The indoor and outdoor units are almost completely silent, the ‘quiet’ refrigerator makes more noise. - Dehumidifies, like a lot! Having an old wood boat, humidity is a super big ‘no no’. This unit has done an incredible job keeping things dry, even with massive holes in the side of our boat. So far, we are extremely happy with how this unit performs. Though it looks unsightly now, we will likely be building it into the outdoor section, making the outdoor unit nearly invisible. The lines running across the wall on the inside will be concealed by cabinets in the future, leaving only the stylish head unit. As for the power, we are pretty confident that this 12000BTU unit will cool our 11x11 cabin without struggle, even with all windows open on a 90+ degree days. During the nights, we believe that the unit will be able to cool inside the hulls reasonably well with assisted circulation. All that said, there is just no tradeoff on the power consumption. The unit pulls as little as 50W when a stable temperature has been reached, and no more than around 950W on ‘turbo’ mode. The unit can cool our entire cabin 15-20 degrees in 10-15 minutes, which is awesome! The fact that we still have massive holes in the side of our boat, and even leaving the cabin door open, this unit still keeps up and does it’s job. We have no idea how this unit will hold up in a maritime environment, but even planning for a short lifetime, it is a well worth investment for us and we look forward to sharing updates on it’s performance at sea! Check out the unit here: https://www.amazon.com/PIONEER-Air-Conditioner-Pioneer-Heatpump/dp/B01DVW6CAU?th=1 Like our content? Join our Patron community! https://patreon.com/Maroonedby5

If you would have told me that one day I'd be sailing through New York on my small sailboat I would have laughed at you. Sailing around the Statue of Liberty and anchoring right next to here was just magical and with the best night view of NYC. Traveling to these famous monuments doesn't have to cost a fortune and we stayed the night for free and got an epic sunset and sunrise. We then venture into the super busy New York Harbor to go hide from a storm in Atlantic Highlands. I flew my Quicksilver MXL Sport 503 from Red Bluff, CA, to his ranch in Capay, CA. I surprise him by dropping into his pasture, which is surrounded on all 4 sides by tall obstacles, like powerlines and trees. It was like landing inside a box.

After 5 months away from the boat, we return to the boatyard in Florida to find out how Soulianis survived over hurricane season. We’ve never left her alone for this long before, and really hope the preparation we did before we left protected her from all the ills that can befall lonely boats: mold, leaks, insect/animal infestations — and who knows what else! Sailing the Mediterranean in March means you have the place to yourself, but the weather can catch you out! We have sea fog & strong winds but some good sailing along the coast of Spain and into the Mar Menor inland sea. It's good to be back at anchor and with our new electric outboard there's far less swearing from Steve before we manage to set off! In this episode we leave our winter base in Cartagena heading East deeper into the Med. We finish our long list of winter boat jobs, we talk to a family who, inspired by YouTube sailing channels, bought a catamaran and are now sailing the world with their 17 year old daughter who is 'home schooling' aboard the boat. We anchor out in the Mar Menor hiding from gale force winds and experience life in the Mediterranean without the crowds, in fact we're the only boat out here! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You Tube are now putting mid -role adds on videos, but there is a way to see the current videos with no adds at all before they get released to the public. By becoming an honorary member of crew and joining our Patreon group you will have three or four days to see the latest video before anyone else with no adds, as we have demonetised the videos before general release. With the children leaving home we decided to sell our house in the UK and buy a boat in Holland. After two years refitting our Hans Christian 48T we have now set off a world voyage. We are retiring early because we want to attempt this voyage in good health and while we're fit and strong enough to really enjoy it. We will have to work a bit as we go until we can draw our pensions and we honestly don't know how well that will work. In our real lives we are journalists and filmmakers so it was only natural for use to document our travels by filming the journey. We aim to produce a professional standard vlog of the whole trip and try to give the viewer a real insight into what it's like to live and travel on a 48 foot sailboat. Our first aim is to sail South. After a winter getting iced in on the Markermeer in the Netherlands Judy insisted on warmer weather! So if you start from Episode 1 you will see us setting off from Eastbourne in the UK and travelling along the South Coast to Plymouth to enter a rally called ARC Portugal. Our first goal is to reach the Mediterranean and that means sailing across the infamous Bay of Biscay. This was a very good test for our boat as the bay lived up to it's fearsome reputation and split the whole fleet with a force 10 storm. Storm Miguel cut through our path and meant we had to run to mainland Spain to escape the massive seas and fearsome winds. Six boats couldn't make it in time and spent several very uncomfortable days at sea. The fleet had several broken boats, but thankfully no injured people. And this was just Episode 2! The excitement continued for the rest of our trip to the Med. Dolphins played in our bow wave, we sampled fantastic local foods and wines, great port in Porto! We found some beautiful anchorages and visit some wonderful historic places like Lisbon in Portugal, Cadiz in Spain and the fascinating port of Gibraltar. We will show you what it's like to winter in the Mediterranean, how much it all costs and give hints and tips on where to go how to save money with your boat and the places you stay. We are also talking to other sailors. After years of broadcasting journalism we know how to get peoples stories and we regularly film other sailors to show their boats and lifestyle as well as ours. We can always learn from others. Our long term plan is to spend a few years in the Mediterranean, on our list of place we want to visit are; Mallorca, Malta, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Italy, Tunisia, to name but a few! When we feel we've seen the best of what the Med has to offer we will cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean, the Pacific and beyond! #sailingfairisle

Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. E buon appettito
