Dinghy ride, a day at the beach, Hayabusa motorcycle cruise, ceviche and dancing. Join us for some relaxation and fun. Yep, no DIY this time on Isabella, the 56’ CNSO Mikado we call home. Steve and Karen take some time off to relax with a dinghy ride to check out the nearby oyster beds and the depths close by. Well, ok...it was also to see if the new connector between the motor and fuel line fixed the Mercury outboard issue we experienced in the last episode. Spoiler alert, no fix and still an issue. Hmmm, another DIY episode for a future date? The weather here has gotten warmer and we headed to the beach to cool off. Karen couldn’t resist the bathtub temperature water. Still not being cooled off enough, she took off her shirt to feel the full effect of the ocean breeze. It had been a while since the Hayabusa had been started and Steve decided it was time for a test drive. That baby started right up without any hesitation, so off he went. It always brings a smile to his face when he rides that machine. Beside dancing, cooking is another favorite activity on Isabella. Using our own recipe, we made ceviche with shrimp, Serrano peppers, fresh cilantro and other fresh ingredients. The taste was out of this world. Thank you for joining us on our adventure. Come? Iscrivendosi alla Golden Globe Race, il giro del mondo in solitario senza scalo a bordo di scafi "vintage" senza elettronica a bordo, ideato dall'avventuriero/organizzatore Don McIntyre. Cantini (58 anni da Verona), che non sarà il solo italiano a prendere parte alla GGR, con partenza a settembre 2026 da Les Sables d'Olonne, è al momento impegnato nella qualificazione alla regata: ai marinai che prendono parte a questa grande avventura viene richiesto di completare un minimo di miglia di navigazione in solitaria non-stop (4.600 miglia). For seven days, we took our floating home — a 39-foot Jeanneau sailboat named Stella — completely off-grid to test if we’re truly ready to sail around the world. In this episode, we sail 32 nautical miles around Langkawi, Malaysia, through limestone cliffs, hidden inlets, and dense mangroves that feel like another world. We discovered the famous “Hole in the Wall,” a secret passageway where no other sailboats were anchored, and had it all to ourselves. From monkeys in the trees to eagles soaring overhead, it felt like living inside a wild, untouched paradise. But living off-grid on a sailboat isn’t always easy — and this week threw everything at us. ⚡ We battled huge storms during rainy season, climbed the mast after our furler jammed, and faced battery issues that tested our new electrical system. At the same time, we finally got to try out our new solar panels, davits, and tender, putting Stella to the test as our future world-traveling home. This week was also extra special because it was our kitten Shelly’s first sail. Watching her find her sea legs, climb around the boat, and explore her new ocean home was a reminder of why we’re chasing this life in the first place — freedom, adventure, and living close to nature. 🐾 Between dodging rain squalls and exploring quiet anchorages, we also found time for the small but essential parts of boat life — cooking, cleaning, repairing, and laughing through the chaos together. This Hanse 575, 'Grey Pearl', with sophisticated pebble grey hull, near-flush teak-laid decks, hydraulic bathing platform, and garage is a stylish and well-performing cruising yacht. The vast teak-laid cockpit offers twin helm stations, abundant seating and two electrically operated teak tables which can be converted to a large sunbathing area. She is well equipped with a 3-spreader mast, Lazy bag and Lazy Jacks, Elvstrøm Sails main sail, Elvstrøm Sails self-tacking furling jib, electric winches, and a hydraulic backstay tensioner. Accommodation is for up to eight guests across four cabins. The master cabin, located forward, has an en suite head compartment and a separate shower. The two guest cabins both with double bed are located aft. The third guest cabin with bunk beds is located to port. On starboard side is the second head compartment. Further to that, a crew cabin with its own head and washbasin in the bow.

Here’s a quick sneak peek at the new Fountaine Pajot 48, the model that will replace the Tanna 47. The Tanna (and before that the Saona) has been one of my favorite sailing cats to work with. They’ve always struck the perfect balance of size, performance, and safety — which is why they’ve been such a hit with fun-time cruisers. This new 48 keeps that DNA but takes it a step further. She’s actually almost 49 feet, so noticeably bigger than the Tanna. You’ll first see her at the Cannes Boat Show in 2026, and then she’ll make her U.S. debut at the Annapolis Boat Show in October 2026. Pour le premier jour du salon, le JT officiel s’est mis en mode croisière. Il faut dire que l’inauguration du Cannes Yachting Festival a tenu ses promesses. D’abord parce qu’il a fait une chaleur tropicale sur la Croisette. Les exposants et les visiteurs se sont pressés dans les deux ports dédiés, le Vieux Port et le Port Canto. Avec plus de 700 bateaux à visiter, le plus grand salon à flots d’Europe n’a pas failli à sa réputation. Une journée riche en rencontres pour l’équipe vidéo de Skippers magazine et ses partenaires Pantaenius et Nanni. Nous avons d’abord rencontré Sylvie Ernoult, Directrice du salon, qui nous a confié vivre sa treizième et dernière édition avant sa retraite. Elle revient sur les caractéristiques du salon de Cannes. Nous avons également visité le Sun Odyssey 415. Antoine Chancelier, directeur des ventes monde de chez Jeanneau, nous a fait l’amitié d’une interview embarquée. Louis Taurel, notre spécialiste des chevaux-vapeur, a visité le constructeur de powerboat Say. Quant à Emmanuel van Deth, il décrypte pour nous le Lagoon 82, le prestigieux vaisseau amiral de la maison Lagoon. We are fitting an electric motor, and we have run into problems with the batteries we have bought, with British Standards and with Insurance. We have had to question all our decisions and struggle to find a way forward. We still got other jobs done though.! ⛵ c’est ma 24e navigation à la voile, je suis en solo et… disons que ça ne s’est pas passé comme sur des roulettes ! 🚤 Départ compliqué du port : j’ai même abîmé le bateau du voisin 😅 (heureusement il a été adorable et il va me laisser réparer moi-même avec un peu de mastic choucroute 🪛). 🤯 En navigation, grosse bizarrerie : à deux reprises, la barre réagissait à l’envers en marche avant ! De quoi bien me faire chauffer le cerveau… 🌬️ Comme le vent montait et que mon anémomètre n’a pas l’air d’être fiable, j’ai préféré prendre un ris pour la toute première fois. On quitte Rio ⛵et se prend une belle bourrasque en pleine nuit, avec éclairs et mer agitée. On arrive de nuit à Ilha Grande, ancienne île interdite au public, aujourd’hui devenue un haut lieu touristique. Sur place, on retrouve notre ami Simon, skipper breton tombé amoureux du Brésil. It was a bittersweet moment as we said goodbye to our crew — Swaroop and Apoorva returned to Switzerland, and Kaeya headed back to India. With the boat suddenly quiet, it took us a few days to adjust to life with just the two of us again. Once the farewells were behind us, it was time to get Reeva ready for new adventures. We stocked up on provisions, refilled our gas cylinders (with some creative jugaad!), and serviced our 35-year-old engine as part of its 300-hour maintenance. Soon, we set sail for Tioman Island, one of Malaysia’s most beautiful destinations, famous for its turquoise waters, turtles, and coral reefs. Along the way, we navigated busy shipping lanes near Johor Bahru, dodged merchant vessels, and found joy in the small moments of couple sailing life.
