This week winter suddenly became very real for us. I think everyone should have Strapinno ratchet straps in their vehicle! To get your hands on this amazing product click here: https://amz.cx/3Vor And check out Strapinno's website here: https://strapinno.com/ A cold spell is moving in fast, and even though we just spent our first week living on the property, it’s clear we’re not ready for freezing temperatures. So we shifted gears and focused on everything that has to be protected before the cold hit. My shed — which is both our workshop and my office — has been brutally cold in the mornings, so my dad and I installed the soffits and insulated the roof to finally make it usable. We also insulated the well and wrapped the exposed water line and filter leading into the trailer so nothing freezes when temperatures drop. And before the ground hardened, we spread the last bit of seed on areas of the land we hadn’t finished yet. My parents arrived at the start of the week, which meant a ton of help on these projects… and a lot more fun. They joined us for something we’d been looking forward to for weeks: taking Isabella on the Polar Express here in Bryson City. She was thrilled right up until Santa walked in — then she absolutely lost it. One of the funniest family memories we’ve had in a long time. New to the channel? SAILING ILLUSTRATED #885 (Fri 21 Nov 2025) — Paul Cayard (USA) was just getting warmed up on SI #880 (4 November) when our internet cut-out for only the third time in almost 900 shows. He needs no introduction, and neither do the topics we will resume today, broadly speaking the "State of Our Beloved Sport" — specifically the Olympics, Sail GP and the America's Cup. Sailing Illustrated airs live on Facebook (fb.com/sailingillustratedblog) and the Sailing Illustrated TV YouTube channel every Tuesday and Friday at 1300 Pacific, or watch a replay on-demand later. This yacht is one of the most impressive examples of Oyster’s bluewater cruising pedigree — engineered for safe, comfortable world cruising and capable of being handled by a competent owner-operator. Originally delivered in 2014, Champagne Hippy was rebuilt almost entirely from scratch in the UK and re-delivered in 2019 after a complete structural reconstruction to a higher standard than the original. She was also brought up to MCA Cat 0 requirements — the most demanding safety category for private yachts — enabling long-range, offshore passages far from the nearest port. She then received a major 2022 technical upgrade including a new aluminium mast, new rigging, and a full sail wardrobe from Elvstrøm (2023). Her extended transom, redesigned for flexibility and water access, adds a superb platform for toys, tender operations, and relaxed days at anchor. Accommodation includes four en-suite guest cabins, a bright deck saloon, a well-equipped galley, and generous crew quarters. The yacht has been meticulously maintained by her current owner, who has invested greatly in her condition — both structurally and cosmetically. She has also been a proven performer on the charter market, completing the ARC in just 15 days and finishing as the first Oyster across the line. If you’re searching for a bluewater sailing yacht, Oyster for sale, or a yacht capable of serious ocean miles with comfort and style, Champagne Hippy is a rare opportunity. We kept working on the last of the salon furniture and also got to work on the soles of the Port side, forward cabin. Along the way, we decided to make another design change. We also go over view questions at the end. So come join Captain Blood, Admiral Marianne, and our XO, Brian as we build our 50' performance cruising catamaran for a circumnavigation voyage. We found it too difficult to attend the Heiva events from our location on the southeast side of Bora Bora, so we moved back to the southwest side of the island, which was much more convenient for getting around. Our new base proved to be a fantastic change, allowing us to attend the root vegetable competition, another dance performance, and even a modern boxing match. We also took the opportunity to explore some of the island's hiking trails, where we stumbled upon historical World War II cannons left behind by the United States. #heiva #borabora #frenchpolynesia #WW2cannons #operationseabees NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? I just bought this cheap 49ft neglected performance catamaran. An Erik Lerouge design Freydis 49 built by Ocean Cat in 2000. In the coming series I will take you along in fixing it up and preparing it to go sailing. But first a quick flashback, I’m Hugo a 31 year old guy from the Netherlands who left the corporate world behind to become a Sailor. I’ve been living onboard my previous boat, a Jeanneau Sun Legende 41 for the past 6 years. And the last 3.5 years I have been travelling full time and met my girlfriend Maria. We sailed the Mediterranean, Atlantic Europe, I did a 4 week solo Atlantic crossing to Brazil of which you can find a daily vlog on this channel, the carribean and crossed back again to Europe to sell the boat. After sailing on a Performance catamaran of friends I’ve been dreaming of owning one. And that day has finally come! There is lots to do, but let’s start with the story of how I bought the boat. --------------------------------------------- Welcome to Boatlife is best. Here you’ll find interviews with sailors about their boats and their life on board. Ranging from family sailing to solo sailing, from absolute beginners to sailing legends, on big yachts and small boats and from brand new to old school. If you like boattours and conversations with sailors, definitely subscribe to the channel! -------------------------------------------- Follow BOATLIFE IS BEST on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/boatlife_is_best/ ------------------------------------------- SONG: Ultimate Tropical Vol. 1 by Sascha Ende used under CC BY 4.0

Sailing in the Aeolian islands takes us first to Vulcano, where we climb to the top and get a perfect view of the crater. Next we head to Salina and enjoy Birthday celebrations with friends, before moving on to Lipari. From Lipari we take the excursion boat to the constantly erupting Stromboli volcano via Panarea. Finally we head back to Sicily where we come face to face with the very sad sight of the recently re-floated Bayesian Superyacht. This is a 360 video so if you are watching on your phone you can move move your phone around - Left / Right / Up / Down to see the entire surroundings of the Anchorage and of me hauling up the anchor. If you are watching this on a computer you can use the mouse on the screen to pan around 360 degrees to see everything I was seeing. This was filmed in 4k but I have since learned I need to be filming in 5.7k to make the quality of the 360 video better, so this is more of just a test that I thought I would share. Getting in here wasn't easy but at last, we’ve just arrived at Puluwat Island. The second incredibly remote civilised island we’re visiting here in Micronesia, and we’re just about to witness the highs and lows of what life looks like here on this 2km long, 1 km wide island in the west Pacific. FULL TOUR: ➡️ https://patreon.com/svzingaro Every boat has a story… but this one is on another level. This is the MCP 68 Global Expedition — a 32-ton aluminum yacht that sailed six thousand miles upwind on its maiden voyage, straight into hurricane season… and nothing meaningful broke. Not the rig, not the systems, not the structure. This film isn’t a boat tour. It’s a deep dive into offshore engineering: — Why a ballasted swing keel on an aluminum boat is rare, and enhances performance — Why this hull survived 35 days of upwind punishment — How the raised deck-salon and mid-ship cabins change offshore living — The details most people walk past: triple-purchase mainsheet, alloy structure, access, drains, systems — The decisions that actually matter offshore (and the ones that don’t) Whether you’re a sailor or not, this is one hell of a story. Welcome back to Part 2 of our 2025 Coastal Classic adventure aboard SV Thistle! If you missed the action, strategy, and chaos of Part 1, make sure to watch that first — because this episode picks up right where we left off: hunting for wind off Tiritiri Matangi, and defending our lead against our fierce Division 8 rival, Persevere (a Hanse 545). With fickle breeze, tactical gambles, and narrow separation, the second half of the race turns into a mental and tactical chess match. As the wind shifts and fades, Persevere closes the gap, threatening the lead we fought so hard to earn. But SV Thistle refuses to back down. In This Episode: ⚓ Chasing elusive wind around the outer edge of Tiritiri Matangi ⚓ A tense downwind duel as Persevere closes to just 2 miles ⚓ Smart tactical calls that put Thistle back in control ⚓ Flying along at 9–10 knots in fresh breeze toward Sugarloaf Rock ⚓ Persevere’s “creative” navigation… which sends them outside the race limits east of the Poor Knights ⚓ Three painful hours becalmed off Cape Brett ⚓ Thistle accelerating from 0.5 knots to full speed with careful sail trim, keel adjustments, and patience ⚓ A dramatic overtake at Hole in the Rock ⚓ Division 8 victory — two years in a row! 🎉 ⚓ Coastal Classic prizegiving and celebrations ⚓ Our high-speed overnight delivery sail back to Auckland at 9–10+ knots ⚓ A nighttime navigation lesson covering masthead lights, sidelights, and vessel identification ⚓ A 3:30 a.m. arrival into Auckland after an incredible run down the coast This episode captures everything we love about the Coastal Classic: strategy, frustration, big wins, good humour, questionable decision-making, and the raw joy of squeezing every knot out of SV Thistle, our performance cruising ketch designed and built in New Zealand. Stick around for the next episode where we return to our North Island circumnavigation, encounter some epic scenery, and deal with some major gear failures aboard Thistle. Thanks for watching — don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share the journey with your mates! Hurricane season is the busiest time of year for shipyards across the Caribbean, and Trinidad is no different! At Peake Yacht Services the yard has been a hive of activity, as yacht owners return to their sailing homes and launch for another season of adventures out on the water. For the boats behind us, that time had arrived, meaning our Leopard 45 catamaran needed to be lifted and moved out the way. Lifting a 45ft boat that weighs over 18 tons no easy feat, and with hundreds of thousands of dollars and our only home on the line, there's a whole lot of trust placed in the Trinidadian team who do this, day in, day out. In this episode we also share the 'electrifying' surprise inside the box shared earlier this week. 👉 SUPPORT THE STORY TELLING ⛵ Gain access to our member only area: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/join-in 😎 Tip jar: https://buy.stripe.com/6oE8A1d9Yabj4OA9AB After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran.
