While at the front Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance holds a slim lead over Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA, it is icebergs to the south of Point Nemo which are the concern in the Vendée Globe. We hear from Conrad Colman about the icebergs, Clarisse Crémer who has rounded Cape Horn and a New Year's Eve update from Giancarlo Pedote in the Pacific Ocean which we received yesterday.. We then discuss the latest tracker, leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for both Charlie Dalin and Séb Simon. We conclude with a clip from Sébastien Marsset in the iceberg zone. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing
Happy New Year from the Crew of SV Free Spirit. We took some time out today to review the progress and setbacks we had for 2024. We had the highest of highs and almost lost our boat to the hurricanes of this record breaking year. We made new friends, took an amazing cruise vacation and had lots of memories. We made huge progress and are now in the home stretch as we prepare to finally leave! Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance leads Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA into the new year. Will we see the Vendée Globe record fall in 2025? We start with New Year's Eve updates from Sam Goodchild and Boris Herrmann, who are enduring uncomfortable conditions in the South Atlantic, with their IMOCA yachts slamming the waves upwind. We then take a look at the course so far, discuss the latest tracker, leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for both Charlie Dalin in the Atlantic and Clarisse Crémer as she rounds Cape Horn. We conclude the show with Andi Robertson talking to Conrad Colman. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing
It's starting to look like a boat! This month we've been designing and building the interior for our redesigned 15' Lobster Boat. There's been a lot of waving our hands at it while discussing different approaches, comparing the original version and talking about what to change vs what to keep. Turning around 3D models on our computers, mocking up cardboard pieces, all to make sure everything flows together nicely. The structure you see taking shape here is temporary, we're building the interior shapes that we want so we can form the molds around them (just like we did for the outer hull). Ultimately that wood structure will be removed so the actual fiberglass seats can be installed into place.

While leader Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA and Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance are separated by just six miles in the Vendée Globe, it's Sébastien Simon on Groupe Dubreuil who is on the charge and closing the gap. Things couldn't be tighter between fifth and ninth, and we bring you updates from Boris Herrmann, Jérémie Beyou and Thomas Ruyant, who is visited by a pod of dolphins. We then discuss the latest tracker, leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for Yoann Richomme, followed by a look at the storms building around Cape Horn. We conclude with an extended Pip Hare interview in Melbourne. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance has closed the gap on leader Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA in the Vendée Globe with a tricky transition zone ahead for the pair. The options for the group behind in fourth to tenth are complex, and we could be seeing very different tactics play out either side of the Falkland Islands that shuffle the fleet dramatically. We hear from Sam Goodchild, Nico Lunven, Boris Herrmann and Charlie Dalin, then bring you the latest tracker and leaderboard analysis, concluding with an update from Kojiro Shiraishi. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

This time was 4 hrs 19 mins 49 seconds outside the race record of 1 day 9 hours 15 minutes 24 seconds set by Comanche in 2017. This is her third Line Honours victory – her first was as Perpetual LOYAL in 2016. With line honours in the 2024 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race decided, attention now turns to contenders for the Tattersall Cup, awarded to the Overall winner of the race every year. Sam Haynes, Commodore of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, was second to finish on Celestial V70, just under three hours behind LawConnect, finishing in 1 day, 16 hours, 10 minutes and 20 seconds of racing and is all but certain to win the Tattersall Cup, awarded to the Overall winner of the race. This will be Haynes second overall win, having taken the mantle in 2022 with his TP52, Celestial. This chartered boat, a Volvo Open 70, is more commonly known as Willow and proved to be exactly the right kind of yacht for the conditions encountered this year. Wild Thing 100 claimed third over the line, despite a number of breakages. The Grant Wharington and Adrian Seiffert owned maxi broke four battens from the top of their mainsail in one of the gybes, and also broke the starboard steering wheel, but crossed the finish line at 5.10am on Saturday morning. Celebrations were muted in Hobart after the two tragic deaths in the race aboard Flying Fish Arctos and Bowline which we reported on earlier. Thumbnail photo (c) Ashley Dart / CYCA

A couple weeks ago we relaunched our aluminum sailing catamaran after a major refit. The refit was packed with lots of modifications to improve the boats performance. Now, we’ve got some fantastic weather and a long stretch of coastline ahead, giving us the perfect opportunity to get the sails up and see how she handles. We're thrilled with how everything's come together and how well the boat is performing. Join us as we embark on an epic sail down the east coast of Australia! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more sailing adventures! ________________ Ahoy! We’re the James Family, a trio sailing around the globe and sharing our family-friendly adventures every week! Sam hails from New Zealand, while Cait is from the United States; we met in Cairns, Australia. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we eloped, and a year later, our family grew with the arrival of Charlie! In 2022, we took the leap to follow our dream, sold everything, and bought an old, unfinished aluminum catamaran. Now, we’re fixing her up as we explore the world. SKIPPER LARGE POWER COURSE (4.9/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) : https://www.nauticed.org/powerboating-courses/view/skipper-large-power-boat When your crew lacks experience, here’s a quick and effective way to tie a dock line. Want to bring your crew up to speed? Check out our online courses below. Docking can be stressful, especially with an inexperienced crew. In these moments, it’s common for crew members to forget everything they were taught earlier. When it comes to dock lines and docking, the priority is securing the line safely—tidying it up can wait until after the boat is docked securely. Ep 116 - Treasures Found... Today we cleaned out the "gargage" also known as the Aft head. There is so much stuff on board that we aren't currently using and we need to make a plan to get the aft head completed before we depart on our new adventure. The only way to start a project is to just dig in and go for it... because of that we found some more pieces that were needed to make the boat more complete and ready to start cruisng. Found a "missing" shelf to the liquor locker and the last of the doors for the forward the head to complete the space. All financial contributions (or items purchased on Amazon) are tax deductible for your US income tax returns for full face and/or retail value. Your contribution helps us to continue with project and support events to help us engage with our veterans thru events such as day sailings, working on the boat to help with projects and social gatherings. Tragically there have been two fatalities in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2024 on two yachts in separate incidents. Roy Quaden 55, from Western Australia, was a crew member on Flying Fish Arctos, New South Wales. It is understood he was struck by the yacht’s boom during an incident which occurred overnight approximately 30 nautical miles east/south-east of Ulladulla NSW. Fellow crew members performed CPR, but they could not revive him. Nick Smith 65, from South Australia, was a crew member on Bowline, South Australia. It is understood he was also struck by that yacht’s boom as Bowline was sailing approximately 30nm east/north-east of Batemans Bay. Crew members also administered CPR which was unsuccessful. We at Sail-World and Yachts and Yachting join with the whole sailing community worldwide in expressing our condolences to the families, friends and fellow crew members of the two sailors lost. Elsewhere, a crewmember swept overboard from Porco Rosso was recovered alive, and to the crew and all who assisted we say thank you and well done. The race continues with 83 yachts still racing and 20 retirements. LawConnect leads the fleet, sailing along the Tasmanian east coast in around 17 knots of wind with 130 nautical miles to go until the finish line off Battery Point, Hobart, while Celestial V70 leads overall under IRC, as well as IRC Div Zero. Caro leads IRC Division 1, White Noise leads IRC Division 2, Solace leads IRC Division 3, Supernova tops IRC Division 4 and Maritimo Katwinchar heads IRC Division 5.
Check out this great small sailboat with a heritage. THIS is how a 21 foot sailboat should be designed, every sailboat for that matter. This Com-Pac Yacht in house design is really impressive. And after making this video, I really want to buy one. Take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by.

We try to live off the land us must as possible by fishing and spearing, we also tend to sleep in the bush or beach.
