It was a really hard choice between Thunderstruck and Lightning Crashes for the title of this episode; both good songs, and there are so few moments when you can apply them to your life in such a literal way. Wet and bumpy ride in 25 knot easterlies arriving just after low tide. Wathumba is a magical place full of life with birds, fish dingos and wildflowers in abundance. Outside Humpback whales abound in Hervey Bay and many swam around and under our boat. From the air the magic of the inlet in all its beauty unfolds. The incoming tide brings crystal clear water making the inlet a beautiful clear swimming pool. The mangroves at the head of the estuary is a great place to catch bream. Superb sunsets and sunrises and many miles of deserted beaches along the west coast of Fraser Island. A south westerly change made for wet and bumpy ride back to Urangan.

We had issues with our starter on our 1978 Gulfstar Sloop. She has a Perkins 4-108 diesel engine and I was getting no response when turning the key. If I kept the key in the on position and shorted the large lugs on the back of the starter solenoid she would typically fire up. I also started having problems with that as well where she would "spin" but not engage with the flywheel. It was time to do something about it. In this video, you will see how to replace a starter on a Perkins diesel (Specifically the Perkins 4-108, but most will be very similar. We will provide tips on how to save money using a special ordered starter from an automotive parts store. Below are the part numbers for the original as well as the replacement part numbers for several different part houses. We ended up using AutoZone, so I can say specifically that the starter worked well after replacing it. The Number on the back of the starter was "Delco Remy -1998338" Based on the Delco Remy website, this part number is now obsolete and has been replaced with "1113280". See the following link for the specs and details along with pictures from the original manufacturer. http://www.delcoremy.com/find-a-part/product-details/1998338 If you got to AutoZone, and put in that number, you will see they can get you the starter for $187.99 with no core charge which is good because then I can check on having the old one rebuilt as a spare. I am posting the correct part # for the one you would need on the Perkins 4-108 for out Gulfstar. When I went up there to the store with my starter, the clerk there cross referenced the part number on the back of the starter and told me what one I needed. I paid and when it came in, it was the wrong one. The starter would fit, but the starter solenoid was mounted in a different place on the starter and the wires from the engine wire harness were not long enough to reach the new location with the incorrect starter, so I took it back. The Part number that you will need if you order this from Autozone is 6575N. The fist one that I received was 6571N and that was incorrect. Be sure it is 6575N. Or make it easy on yourself and just use the links above for Amazon's listing of the starter. Please like and share this video. I apologise for the poor video, circumstances beyond my control. The video shows Jamie Orr's Bolger Chebacco "Wayward Lass" being capsized and righted. You can see that at 90deg the boat was easy to re-right and it came up almost empty of water. The agile righter got back on board without even getting his feet wet! However it was a different story when the boat was inverted to 180degs. Although the crew got the boat up again unaided it took some time. And the boat was then completely awash. A 6000gal/hr pump on the RIB took about 20 minutes to pump it out. As Jamie said "had it been for real and had I inverted it completely I would have died" Nevertheless, a very good demonstration. It showed that even bigger boats can be crew righted, but you do need to think about adding flotation somewhere if you want to survive a capsize. From our world trip in 2014-2015. We didn't get capture as much footage then as we would insist upon now so this video tries to make still photos fun. We spend 3 weeks in Israel in December of 2014 and we based ourselves out of an AirBnb room in Tel Aviv 3 blocks from the beach. We rented a car and took a number of day trips all over Israel to see the sights and do some exploring. In this video we spend some time checking out St Kitts by car and getting to know the locals and the local food. Yum! St Kitts is another beautiful island with a shore side ring road that encircles the whole Island, perfect for a scenic drive. The Leeward and Windward Islands are affected by the Trade Winds but the Trade Winds are also affected by the Islands. Somedays it's tough to Sail the course you want, which is just one of the challenges we face in this episode. Later on in the video while working our way into the anchorage at Montserrat, both our engines sputter and die with what we thought was a fuel lock, we had some quick thinking and action to take in order to stay safe. Hier also der erste Versuch live mit der Smartphone App "Emoze" zu Youtube zu streamen. Geht ja an sich sehr gut, wie man sieht. Das Bild ist nicht schlecht, aber man kann halt nicht zoomen. Und der Ton ist natürlich undifferenzierter und windanfälliger als mit einem Headset mit Fleece-Socke. ;-) Aber ok, die Erfahrung war es wert. Am Ende ist es ein gutes Backup, wenn die "gute" Technik irgendwie versagt.

Ganz guter Livestream mit der Smartphone App "Emoze". Hier haben wir uns damit abgefunden, dass die von TIm klug ausgetüftelte Technik nicht ausreichend Strom an Bord bekommt. Aber man sieht, das Smartphone ist ein ganz gutes Backup. Leider fällt ja da der Zoom weg, aber bei wenig Wind kann man auch vorsichtig ein bisschen dichter ans Feld fahren. Ton ist ganz gut mit dem Bild synchronisiert, aber durch das Mikro im Smartphone ist es eben auch undifferenzierter und man hört den Motor und alle anderen Nebengeräusche. Lustig ist, dass man in der App direkt Kommentare von den Zuschauern lesen kann und so eine direkte Kommunikation mit dem Publikum entsteht.
