So, I finally tried that over the summer and it worked great. The only bummer was those darn PLU stickers for the bulk bags... Either way, I thought I'd let you know that reusing plastic bags, coffee bags, and produce bags in bulk sections does take some extra work and you do feel a little silly taking out used plastic from your purse in the store- but it works. For the everyday, conscious American family why not do what you can with what you've got rather than surrendering to the system. Eating more fruits and vegetables, making more food from scratch, cutting out animal products, taking reusables with you when you leave your home, and picking up garbage when you are out-- those are things we can all do regardless of where we live, our financial situation, our schedules, etc. I try not to beat myself up about not getting it right all of the time, but striving to do my best in every opportunity I'm given.

One cool thing about this trip has been that we've each been able to celebrate our 2017 birthdays in the Bahamas. In this video, it's Molly's turn. We didn't have cake mix, so we made up a batch of pancakes, stacked them up in a rough semblance of a cake, covered it with Nutella, and stuck a pink candle in the top. Molly loved it. She's so easy to please. :) This video takes place between The Berry Islands and Bimini. We've been waiting on the right wind to take us back to the States - and the time has come to sail the 175 miles back stateside. Bittersweet stuff. They are a family living, traveling, learning and enjoying the world aboard the 38-foot catamaran Fata Morgana. Their names are Ivo, Mira and Maya. For them it’s a voyage into a new and unknown way of life. They left behind work, school, home and all those things that give us a false sense of security and comfort, in order to find alternative ways of learning and experiencing the world. They are traveling and living aboard and produce their own solar power and fresh water and they sail as much as possible and also catch and eat a lot of fish. In November 2012, Ivo, Mira and Maya piled up a bunch of clothes, books, and tools on a 1988 motor home and left their house in Canada in search of a boat. After five months on the road, they found their version of the "perfect boat". ‘Fata Morgana’ became their new home and school for an unknown number of years. Ivo, Mira and Maya are traveling around the world and living full-time aboard Fata Morgana, a 2001 Robertson & Caine Leopard 38. E58 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell travels. Hobbling through the desert we finally make it to Purnie Bore and a well earned hot shower. The place is full of pink and grey galahs. Repairs are made to the motorcycles and after a lovely sleep the tour heads off down the track to Dalhousie Hot Springs, an oasis in the desert. Soaked, contented and replenished we continue on to Yulara where we are able to make the major repairs to the truck. After a couple of nights’ rest and relaxation and trips to the rock for the boys we continue the journey again, leaving Yulara and heading west. 88 days of our Cape Town summer compressed into one megasode! Our friend Ian lends us his Pajero, which we immediately start using to go on missions around Cape Town. First up- we head to the Boss 400 to explore the freezing ass water around Cape Town. Shortly after Brian fixes the turbo charger on Delos's main engine. We then take a road trip to Up The Creek and soak in a real Afrikans Festival in the middle of a floaty party in a river. Returning from our party adventures we hang out with the awesome pirates from SV Convivia where our friend Tucker ends up giving all 3 of us tattoos! Finally the Girl Crew season begins with the arrival of Miss England and Miss Austria. We begin preparing Delos to venture across the Atlantic from Africa to South America.
