Check out the accompanying blog post for more information! We try and keep life simple while being as safe as possible, and therefore have whittled down the list of possible items down to what we feel is essential to our survival if we're ever in a situation at sea where we have to abandon our yacht. The liferaft also has a survival kit inside which contains a number of items such as 24 hours of mirror, whistle, water rations, sea sickness tablets, fishing line, flares, space blankets, torch, knife and a signalling cheat sheet for all of our signalling needs. The grab bag is to be taken into the liferaft in addition to the survival kit already packed inside. Thanks so much for watching! Please subscribe, leave a comment and give a thumbs up. Its a short trip up to the italian island of Sardinia. We go fishing on the way, but only manage small Tuna... This is literally the only type of fish we have caught in the Med thus far and we already had some in the freezer so chucked the little guys back to let them grow a bit more. We have a quick stop in Sardinia before heading across to Menorca, one of the Balaeric Islands. Everything was going hunky dorey until..... A freak lightning storm hit!! We stayed up most of the night (well Adam stayed up ALL night) and watched as mother nature expelled some mighty energy, hoping it wouldn't hit us! Check out the video to see whether we had an expensive repair job or got off scotch free. Sarah & Adam X Check the video out above and let us know what you think by liking or subscribing. It is time to change the gear oil in my Sleipner bow thruster gear leg. If there is water in the oil it will stay in the bottom of the drive and over time destroy the gearsystem, the oil must be changed every 2. years to ensure propper function. 1. suck out the oil of the reservoir 2. let the out the rest by removing the screw in the bow leg 3. fill new oil in the top and check level when the air has drained Oil : EP90 or SAE90 Amount : 300-400 ml.

Sailing into Patras & back East towards the Corinth Canal we visit this 3rd largest city in Greece. With a population of just 167,000 this must be the smallest city we’ve seen. As with most large populated areas it can seem a little daunting at first, with its share of beggars, street performers and traders, but we soon began to fall in love with the place. Yes its diverse and yes there is a huge amount of graffiti, but the people are friendly, kind and very accommodating. We visit the ruined castle and take in the breathtaking views on offer from the battlements, before heading into the city for welcome refreshments and a glimpse of some very strange folk! The marina is tired but functional, and is reasonably priced, with free electric and water. Our time here is a memorable one and apart from the fuel delivery man who tried to rip us off we would certainly recommend a visit. Moving on from here we head to Trizonia. Exploring the town of Chania gives us a welcome chance to stretch our legs and sample a homemade vegetable pie, compliments of the chef at our lunchtime stop. Our sailboat's new (temporary) home is Reynolds Yacht Park in Green Cove Springs, FL. Nice town, BIG dock. Yes, the dock we're tied to is HUGE. It's made of concrete and is, in fact, a dock that was used by the US Navy during WW2. Reynolds Marina is pretty nice!. The price is $10/ft per month. That includes dockage, water, bathroom, laundry, and clubhouse access. Electricity is added on top. Easy access to the ICW, and far enough inland to provide pretty decent hurricane protection. During this video, we get the boat settled in and start prepping for leaving the boat to fend for itself while we head back to GA to visit our family. That means... LOTS of work, believe it or not. We also procure some wheels for ourselves. 6 wheels to be exact. 2 are on "The Gator", the other 4 are on the Yaris... AKA... The Land Dinghy. Buy a shirt, look spiffy, and help further the sailing adventure. :) Thanks for watching!! NOW SOLD Launched in 2004, ‘Pohono’ is an excellent example of a well-used yet very well maintained yacht. http://www.yoti.com.au/listing/bavaria-41-pohono ‘Pohono’ (Native American for 'Spirit of the Wind') has spent the past three years in Hamilton Island and only recently returned to NSW. Her current owners who have had her since 2009 sailed her to the Whitsundays in 2014 where she has been a regular competitor at Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Week. ‘Pohono’ has a very simple deck layout with all lines leading neatly aft from the mast to two sets of cockpit jammers and two sets of Harken ST winches and rope bags. She has upgraded dodger and bimini with newly fitted flexi solar panels and is kept under a full boat cover. Her cockpit seating is spacious with an open transom option for boarding and swimming with large cockpit lockers offering good storage. She is equipped with a near new Highfield inflatable dinghy and Yamaha 5hp outboard (both 2014). Her sail wardrobe was upgraded with new main and headsail in 2013 with an additional regatta #2 headsail in 2014. She also comes with a near new asymmetric spinnaker and 2016 Raymarine Chart plotter. She has been very well cared for by her owners and boasts a spacious and comfortable two cabin, two head interior layout. Both electric toilets were replaced new in 2016. There are several other significant upgrades which include an additional fridge/freezer, new bilge pumps, batteries, and windlass. ‘Pohono’ is in excellent condition and ready for summer sailing. She is well set up for coastal cruising and non-competitive racing and very ready for her next adventure. She would be very well suited to a small family or syndicate ownership or a couple ready to take the next step into a larger yacht. For more information and full yacht inventory or to arrange an inspection of this great cruising yacht please contact Sonia Robinson.

We think we have found Colombia's busiest anchorage! Cartagena de Indias use to be South Americas biggest and most important port. Nowadays it's a convenient stop for cruisers on the way towards Panama. We boat-sit our friend's catamaran, a Leopard 40, and we explore the beautiful city. Meantime Ran is safely moored in the marina in Santa Marta. If you want to sail and explore the San Blas Islands on Fair Play, contact Seb & Krista. Email: fairplaycruise@gmail.com Facebook: Cruise Caribe We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. In June 2016 I had the great pleasure of meeting James Wharram and Hanneke Boon for the first time, at their home and design base in SW England. James needs no introduction, widely regarded as one of the fathers of the modern catamaran. Quite simply, James has helped more sailors realise their dreams than any other designer. Period. Tuya, Zaya and I had just completed an Atlantic crossing on Luckyfish and I had vowed to meet the designers of our remarkable boat. Together with my brother Andrew, we spent an enjoyable few hours discussing a wide range of topics. In Part 1 we cover James' beginnings and end the interview touching on a rift that had always perplexed me. ***You can support our creations by becoming a PATRON, link below. Consistency was not easy on day one of race, with big Atlantic waves remaining as the wind dropped. Nonetheless it remains close and after three races just six points separates first from eighth. Chris Bake and team Aqua had a great day on water and currently leadings but with the Team Ceeref in second, and Team Nika third, Team Aqua will need to stay focused.
