We are amazed how the Hobby Drone technology has changed in just a little over 2 years. When I started my Cruising Off Duty channel I was filming with the Yuneec Q500 4K, which was a good drone but was big. My friend Terry then got the Phantom 3 Pro which is a bit smaller. Then I got my new drone, the ground breaking, foldable, Mavic Pro. The Phantom 4 Pro then came along and had more sensors for safety and had a better camera than the previous drones. Then the Mavic Air came out and was an even smaller version of the Mavic Pro. Now DJI has come out with an amazingly small drone, the Tello, that is only $99 (taxes and shipping included!). It is a very stable and fun drone but it will not stand up to a windy day and comes with included prop guards, so it seems to be designed more for fun indoor flying. It is clearly not a videographer's tool, with a static mounted 720p camera, but it sure is a lot of fun to fly. Hopefully you enjoyed this episode. Bayliner is well known for having a brilliant design team, and the 265 is no exception. Bang for the buck, no one can compare to Bayliner. This boat comes with a 15hp Mercury Prokicker, and a lowrance GPS fishfinder, VHF, Stereo system, and a fully outfitted galley. There is a huge amount of space below and the cockpit layout is great for entertaining. This is a one owner boat and has never been in the ocean. There is camper canvas and a cockpit cover. We thought it was worth doing a standalone blog just on this because it was quite serious and there was a lot to learn from it. We are involved in a genuine rescue at sea while on a Greek ferry between Athen and Aegina. About half way along our journey we realized that there was a person in the water. The first thing we did was point and someone alerted the captain. As we got closer we realized that it was a woman. It was a major shipping channel so we presumed she'd come off a large ship. She was able to swim over to a lifeline thrown to her, as the crew lowered a rope ladder.. but it didn't reach the water. One of the crew members climbed down and tried to help her, but she just didn't have the energy or strength to get on the lopwer rung as it was too high. Worse still, the boat was lifting up and down on the swell and she was getting sucked under the hull. A high-speed boat arrived to provide assistance but this too had high sides and the swell made it impossible to approach her. Eventually they lowered a ramp at the back of the ferry and a crew member jumped in and pulled her around to it. Other crew members managed to pull her onto the ramp but it was difficult as the ferry was still going up and down with a swell and it took them all their strength to pull her onto it. I didn't know if anyone was able to do first aid so I remained close by just in case they needed any assistance. Thankfully, she was conscious, breathing and able to talk so they put her into a recovery position, but I was still concerned her condition might deteriorate after the rescue as it sometimes does. The woman was finally transferred to the red high-speed power boat that had been standing by. I think their plan was to transfer her to the Coast Guard boat but they probably decided it was unsafe because of the swell. Once the woman was transferred we continued on our journey. So we don't actually know what happened to the woman afterwards but we obviously hope she was okay, We couldn't find any information and there was nothing in the English language media. It was quite troubling to see someone like that in water but we learned a lot from the experience, particularly how difficult it is to get someone back onto a boat. The ferry was a very large boat but it would be difficult on any boat really. I've learned a lot from years of training with the RNLI, RYA and our own drills on the boat but to actually to see how long the woman was in the water before they managed to get her back on board and also to see how someone had to put their own life at risk, was quite worrying really. This has also made us reevaluate the equipment that we have or don't have on our boat for recovering an MOBs - what kind of hoist we need, where on the boat we could bring someone up and even if they were conscious they might not even have the energy to climb up a ladder. So we're sorry if this blog was a little bit serious but we wanted to share it hoping that it would be a valuable learning experience for everyone. Meet Maya, Aladino, and Magic Carpet. We all ended up together because of 1) a tragic accident, 2) an amazing miracle, and 3) an inspirational mentor. Here's how it all began. Aladino and I met in summer 2017. He was sailing his boat in the Mediterranean, and I was working on a boat in the same area. We fell in love, and are now finishing work on Magic Carpet, a Vindo 32 which we plan to sail around the world (slowly). This channel will tell the story of the restoration and the sailing trip to follow. The thing is, the story of how we ended up in the same place at the same time is full of some pretty amazing details. Three pivotal things happened. Without these things, we never would have met. 1) Aladino biked the length of a continent, and met an old man who became his mentor and changed his life. 2) Maya was given a boat at age 18, for $1, from some random strangers she still hasn't met 3) A gorgeous sailboat fell 20ft from a crane onto concrete, and was destroyed (at first). Cover it with cling film and leave 12-14 hours. When it's doubled in size, turn out onto a floured surface and #shape. Let prove for another 30-40 #minutes, then pop into a hot oven for approximately 30 minutes. It's ready when, well, it looks #ready. All the boats, bar one, have scored bullets at the RC44 Portorož Cup after two new teams added their names to the list of race winners here in Slovenia. So far in eight races six teams have scored bullets. Having been briefly held ashore, the RC44 fleet ventured out of Marina Portorož into a 6-8 knot on shore westerly and an almost lake-like sea. In the first race, Chris Bake’s Team Aqua successfully repeated yesterday’s tactic of winning the pin and ‘owning the left’ side of the course. Once again this helped them round the top mark in first place but with Hugues Lepic’s Aleph Racing hanging on to their coattails in second. The team of the London-based Frenchman, which seems to enjoy the flat water on offer on Piran Bay, split from Team Aqua at the leeward gate and sneaked ahead up the second beat. From there they hung on to secure the first race of the day for themselves. John Bassadone and the crew of Peninsula Petroleum have been getting to know their new tactician American Ed Baird, who is standing in for the ebullient Italian Vasco Vascotto this week. In race two the Gibraltar-based team managed to find a clear lane coming into the top to lead around ahead of Team Aqua and proceeded to extend from there. The RC44 Portoroz Cup 9 May until 13 May is the second event of the RC44 Championship Tour which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. Nous avons mouillé un beau jour par hasard dans la réserve cousteau à Malendure. Nous étions sensé y rester que 2 ou 3 jours et finalement nous y sommes restés presque 2 mois ! on a retrouvé max et JB que nous avions connu il y'a un an à porto santo. Ils ont trouvé du boulot dans le coin afin de refaire la caisse de bord. Pour notre dernier week end nous avons décidé de partir à petite anse, un petit mouillage tranquille du coin. Entre chasse sous marine et plongée nous avons passés le week end dans l'eau. Alors que nous chassions avec max les filles sont venues nous chercher car un dauphin est venu nous rendre visite. Pendant 1h nous sommes restés à danser, et jouer avec le dauphin qui en redemandait à chaque fois ! un moment magique partagé entres amis à quelques mètres du bateau au mouillage.

We are heading for Turkey through the Greek Northern Cyclades & Sporades Islands - Kea, Tinos, Ikaria to Fournoi. Jaz is in search of a restaurant we read about in a foodie magazine. On the journey David has a nasty accident, Josh has a run in with a toilet, Nikau starts leaking and our lazy jacks rip while sailing in 30 knots. The kid boat schooling is improving and we are finding some remote beautiful spots in Greece! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. With our cat and dog, Sugar and Coco. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! For the second time, the Osaka Cup Presentation ceremony was held at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine.

This boat is the perfect package to get into water sports! This is a low hours boat (132 hours) that has been used about 10 hours per year for the last 5 years having sat for 3 years prior. The boat has been summerized and lake tested this year and is running well. The interior is a 9.5/10 and the exterior is in need of some love although it's still in decent shape, with no major repairs needed, only some wet sanding and polishing. There's a wakeboard tower, bimini top, wakeboard racks, and a stereo in the boat. This boat can do it all from skiing to wakesurfing. Being direct drive gives it a great seating layout and super easy engine access. This boat comes as a package with the trailer but act fast at it will not last long! Episode 25 We pick up Ricky's dad & head out to St Francis Bay! Had some great food there as Ricky's dad decided to spoil us. (The men had some sardines & I had a Mauritian Seafood curry! The food was amazing. If you are ever in St Francis Bay area definitely go check out the Chokka Block Restaurant. We took a visit to go see the baby penguin that Ricky had rescued and made sure he was doing alright. He looked great and was so excited to see Ricky! Ricky shares another one of his famous fish recipes with you ( this one is my favorite) It was back to work! We finished our door frames and got them all glued and epoxied in. Ricky added the counter top edges in our forward cabins and the edge on the beds in the aft cabins. They epoxied in the rail to make our saloon seating area into a nice big Christmas bed as we call them. We epoxied in our trashcan cabinet as well as completed the door step and epoxied that in as well. Ricky & Moses also did some floor fillets to round off the look of the floor as well as get rid of any edges that might have been sticking out. Ricky & I also got some presents in the mail! With another light forecast, crew and race committee were relieved to arrive in Marina Portorož this morning to find a solid northeasterly breeze. Anticipating that this welcome situation might not last, PRO Peter Reggio coaxed crews off the dock early and managed to get the first race underway 20 minutes ahead of schedule. This week we tackle a leak that we have had in our forward stateroom (The V Berth) I wasn't really sure where this leak was coming from in the past and made an assumption it was coming from the transition from the anchor well to the deck. With the new fiberglass all down, we noticed it was still leaking. We identified the location of it in last weeks video ( https://youtu.be/hsJdNDXpVWQ ) so it was time to get to work. We found that it was in the companionway sliding hatch and how the rails were bedded to the actual dog house. We were going to have to remove the sliding rails and rebed the material. We decided to use 3M 4200 Bedding material for this job. We are also doing solid lifelines instead of the cable ones. In this episode, we show how we planned the number of stanchions and the shape of the top rail. We talk a little bit about the planning of stanchion locations, the height of a stanchion, as well as the importance of determining the location of the first one. We also make sure that working in the anchor well and on the bow pulpit is all possible with our new design. All of it will be made out of 316 Stainless Steel and will have a solid handrail on the top and 2 lifelines below that. This will make the boat feel and be more secure and provide heights for the little ones and adults to all be secure when on deck.
