We headed out on the Pacific onboard the Nautilus Belle Amie for an 11 day trip to the Archipiélago de Revillagigedo (better known as Socorro). During these days we had numerous dives with Oceanic Mantas, Hammerheads, Dolphins and other Sharks. Sometimes the conditions underwater were rough, but in the end it was all worth it. Islands we dove: San Benedicto (especially the Canyon was on fire), Roca Partida and Socorro Island. The awesome crew of the Belle Amie was the cherry on top with their never ending positive vibes and all the helpful hands. Getting into harsher conditions in the north isn't going to stop us from island hopping. We're still ready to make the 95 mile open water sail between Terceria and Sao Miguel. We'd been lucky to have many pleasure cruises between these islands in the summer and into fall, but now cold weather conditions are kicking it, and it's getting harder to find windows of calm seas and no winter storms. So when we find the first usable window to Sao Miguel, we take it. These colder temperatures have us completing a few other small projects, like finally inserting a plexi glass side into our door. Up until this point it had been a mesh screen, and things started getting a little too cold at night! But, since we came back to this island to explore...we rent a car for two more days to visit a few more places we had not seen, including the highly rated hike of Lagoa do Fogo. For centuries they have been utilized for healing and consciousness transformation. We are now discovering the science behind this powerful ancient modality, which is so effective for healing today. Modern medicine can now measure and thus confirm the practice of sound as a means to heal. All parts of your body possess a different resonant frequency. When an organ, or other part of the body, is vibrating “out of tune” or non-harmoniously, it is called “dis-ease”. A body is in a healthy state when each cell and each organ resonate in harmony with the whole being. Using Tibetan Singing Bowls for healing is based on the idea that all illness or disease is characterized by a hindrance to the flow of energy in the body. On one of our summer family day sails out on Barnegat Bay we found a waterskiing flag which we recovered. Since I had made a towing handle that summer which was on board and we had brought one of the boys foam surf boards I figured lets give it a try. We were on our way home on a late Sunday afternoon with the bay mostly to ourselves so we had plenty of room. We were motorsailing with both sails up... worked a lot better than I expected, if I had my large board it would have been better yet! We also had a great day of swimming, kayaking, fishing and eating too! Video ends with some video of the kids jumping off the bow while sailing... I final did it too in 2017?! The second part of our time in Martinique was filled with plenty of little projects on the boat and really getting a grasp of the cruising life. We have added another solar panel to the boat for additional power, fixed the water maker, and added a few upgraded features. Everyday we have become a little more self sufficient and nearing off the grid. Well, not completely of course, but food, power, and water at least. This time WE welcome our family and friends aboard to give them a taste of this amazing life we have so happily adopted and show them the best of sailing. An excellent start to the new year to say the least. Even after a sad case of mistaken identity with our first deep sea fish catch, we later redeem ourselves with an even bigger catch. Martinique allowed us to settle in and become the new cruisers that we are. Staring here and now returning all on our own has been a big boost of confidence.
