We leave Greifswald on Aurora’s maiden voyage. We are in a bit of a hurry to catch the lifting bridge to get out to sea, all starts of well as we head out to Christiansø and across the shipping lanes and the overnight sail is pretty eventful as we sail through thunderstorms. In Christiansø we try to get the sail out as I sensed there was something wrong when I furled the mainsail in the night before. Sure enough there was, the learning curve is steep as we haven’t used an in mast furling sail before. So this episode isn’t all fun and games unfortunately but we learn so much about the in-mast furling and the problems that you can have. In the future I will try to do a proper tutorial on what we learned with the Selden mast and the Elfstrom in-mast furling sail. In this episode we find a slice of paradise with a side of iguanas. We pick up anchor, raise the main and head north in the Exumas from Farmer's Cay to Black Point Settlement, to our next spot, to do more exploring. We are always dependent on the wind, so since we noticed that there was no wind coming up, we decided to move to take advantage of the wind we had while it was here. We had to act quick to avoid the rain storm that was chasing us. We had a quicker sail that we expected between 6-7 knots. We love sailing on the inside of the Exumas, where the water is flat. We made great time, out running the storm that was flowing us, just in time for Brandy to set up our "official" rain catching system. We were able to capture at least 20 gallons, that is a nice win in our books. After a couple of days of catching up on rest and videos, we hop in the dinghy and head over to Bitter Gauna Cay to visit the Rock Iguanas. They are native to the island and there are only about 1300 of them left. We tried to not disturb them too much, just stopping by to say hi. We are so glad we did, outside of the iguanas, the surrounding landscape was gorgeous. We do some exploring on the island and then head over to check out a boat wreck nearby. We were anticipating that the boat would be submerged, but it was mostly out of the water. It was still interesting to check out, but sad, because its just left behind to rot in the elements. We wanted to do some spearfishing, but the wind was picking up from the west and we needed to get back to Saoirse to hunker down. Black Point doesn't have much protection from West or North West winds, so we were rocking and rolling HARD for the next couple of days with the storms and winds that kept blowing through. After getting some rest, we journey out to explore more of Black Point. Hoping to find some delicious famous coconut bread by Lorraine's Mom. We find a blow hole that was very active because of the strong winds and washing machine like conditions in the Atlantic side. There are so many unique things around the Exumas, so you will never not have something to do. We run into some fellow youtubers, Nate and Keegan from Summer Friday, and hang out with them for the day. On our search for the best coconut bread around, we are sadly disappointed that they were all out and that it would be days til Lorraine's Mom would be back on the island to make more. After our magical first few days in Cape Cod it was time for us to start heading south toward New York and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay. We had a great sail to Block Island but when we went to reef before a squall the Main Sail wouldn't come down because we broke the outer cordage of our main Halyard! NOT GOOD! Eventually we were able to get the sail down, but that meant Seth had to go up the mast in Block Island and replace the line with a new one. Such is cruising. The innovative M/Y “Spectre”, built in Livorno by Benetti. The “High Speed Cruising Hull”, as the firm’s founder Frank Mulder calls it, delivers incredible performance while keeping total weight to a minimum. The top speed of 21.2 knots is 30% faster than a traditional displacement hull and the yacht has a range of 6,500 nautical miles at a speed of 12 knots, with fuel consumption of between 200 and 238 litres. The system significantly improves the cruising stability of “Spectre” and on-board comfort using two roll stabilizing fins, two forward pitch control canards and three independently controlled stern interceptor blades. The exteriors are by Giorgio M. Cassetta, while the modern interior design is the work of Benetti’s Interior Style Department. The sporty exteriors accommodate generous interiors, in a dialogue characterised by influence without imposition. The decor, designed by the Benetti Interior Style Department, has a modern feel embellished by steel detailing and sculpted glazing. The atmosphere conjures up the 1930s Art Deco style found in New Orleans and Florida, which in turn draws its inspiration from late 19th century French Liberty style. This week we FINALLY finish boat repairs: Calico Skies has never been in better shape, and we've never been more excited! We still need to prepare for departure though, which means provisioning (aka buying lots of chocolate), cleaning the boats anchor chain and bottom to remove growth, and squeezing in one last bit of exploration - which means a night excursion to a beach where Leatherback Turtles come annually to nest. Thank you I want to take a few moments to thank you all for taking the time to view our channel and our weekly show/video. As you know we have had a slight change in personal needs and are spending some time between the Boat and taking care of my dad after surgery. Atlantic Ocean I took a little bit of time to explore some of the Atlantic Ocean Coast. I went south toward Atlantic City and spent some time realizing that there are parts of it that are fairly dumpy. That said there are also some gems there as well. I went to Steel Pier where the famed diving horse show used to be from the 1920s through the 1970s. I took a ride on a nice Ferris wheel over the city. Lucy the Elephant I also went over to a small town just south of Atlantic City called Margate. They have an odd roadside attraction that was built in the 1890s as a marketing ploy for a land development project. The years of salt water, storms and air had taken it's toll and in the 1970s a group formed to save and restore Lucy the elephant. She is now open for visits and tours and I take you along inside the elephant and to see the scenery from out her eyes, butt and from the top of the elephant. Brigantine Beach I also took some time to go look for a place called Macks Snacks that @CelticLady suggested to me. I was not able to find it but did find a place on Brigantine beach that was a seafood shack. I wan't to fix some holes in the gelcoat due to the gelcoat has cracked around the edges and the color is also a bit off so I decide to make the repair once again. This time with a bit more knowledge and the right color gelcoat.

In this episode of Sailing Chelsea, we explore a little of Porto Santo, an absolutely stunning island slightly north of Madeira. It has the most beautiful beach and the sea is so clear. Here we meet some great friends and Faye has her first ever scuba dive! After a great stay in Porto Santo, we prepare Chelsea to cross to Portugal, which we think will take us 4 days. The crossing has its dramas... with the risk of running out of both diesel and power, it's certainly a sailing passage we won't forget!
