I think this dress is perfect for Yachting... https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we head to the city of Sibolga on the West Coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. We head into this city which is far from a tourist destination and are greeted and followed by many curious kids. With our jobs done, it is back to sea we go on passage north towards the Banyak islands. On passage Bonita cleans out her closet and we are surprised to find the goodies in store! Not So Grotty Yachty anymore!! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we are returning to Thailand in the coming months and then taking the northern route of the Indian Ocean to the Andaman islands and onto Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trades begin again! The adventure is just beginning! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! We know it is confusing that we keep switching between story lines (Greece and the Balearics), but this week a subtropical storm (or subtropical hurricane, subtropical cyclone), a “Mediterranean Hurricane” or so called Medicane, was expected to cause disaster and catastrophe over Spain and its islands. We had heard of this phenomenon earlier this year, when friends told us that the Medicane “Zorbas” caused some serious damage in Greece last year and sank several boats. When we heard a Medicane was expected to strike Mallorca, we did some research. After all, expecting a storm force 12 Medicane is something to be cautious about. We are no weather experts (yet ;)), but we would like to explain what we learned and what we decided to do with a storm inbound in Mallorca. Should we be hiding? Or will it turn out to be not as bad as expected.. We head off to Port Andratx to wait it out. One of the most beautiful ports we have been so far! You never know exactly how your neighbors boat is going to swing and you can't be certain you dropped the hook in the perfect spot. Toss in a tight space, some hard concrete and gusting wind and you really need to keep an eye out for danger. We thought it was worth sharing this video to help people see how crazy living on a dock (or quay) can be. If the weather turns sour, sailors typically have to return to their boats and be prepared for anything. Rarotonga is known for being a difficult place for sailors to visit...and this is why. Was man als zukünftiger Eigner zur Mehrwertsteuer beachten muss, wenn man ein Segelboot kaufen möchte - das erzählen wir euch in diesem Video! Anlass für dieses Thema bietet ein 36 ft. Stahlschiff, das wir begutachten. Der Martin möchte dieses Segelschiff kaufen, um damit bald mit seiner Familie auf Blauwasser Fahrt zu starten und für länger zu segeln. Er hat sich für dieses Stahlschiff entschieden, weil es viel Platz bietet durch den hellen Decksalon und ein gutes Angebot ist durch den günstigen Preis. 32.000 € Euro soll es kosten. Er hat uns engagiert, um das Schiff technisch zu checken und ein Gutachten zu machen. Wir sind also gemeinsam an Bord und begutachten jede Ecke der Yacht, testen den Motor, gehen eine Runde Testsegeln auf dem Greifswalder Bodden und dann wird das Segelboot sogar noch aus dem Wasser gehoben, damit wir das Unterwasserschiff checken können. Das war ein sehr interessanter Tag für uns! Ob Martin sich für das Schiff entscheidet und zuschlägt oder ob wir größere Mängel gefunden haben, das gibt's in dieser Folge BootsProfis!
