We woke up on our beautiful anchorage of Epidavros to a little bit of breeze coming in. We hoisted the sails and get to do a little bit of sailing. Suddenly the captains decide to abandon ship as he jumps in the dinghy first to get the engine out of the water as it makes the dinghy zigzag along. Then he jumps in the water and leaves the 2 newbies back on the sailboat all alone while under sail! As we get to AG Thomas the kids go snorkeling while the captain takes the dinghy for a spin, exploring the fish farms and let the kids have some time alone... Finally, our Bimini is up! after +-8 months of work on our Bimini and after a few problems we decided to tackle the job ourselves. When we started we were complete amateurs but I think we can now call ourselves "professional" painters and fairers. We couldn't possibly describe the relief we felt to finally have the Bimini out of the boat yard and onto Saoirse. The Bimini was Colbens little baby for the last 4 months and has put in many hours of work on her so he is very pleased to finally see her on Saoirse. We hoisted the Bimini up with our main halliard and lowered her down onto Saoirse. Colben and Denver clean off the underside of Saoirse where we didn't paint enough anti-foul. We had painted the anti-foul onto the yacht while she was still out of the water so had no indication of where the water line would actually be. We did paint self cleaning anti-foul onto the hulls and that cleans itself up perfectly when we do sail. We were told that self cleaning anti-foul should not be rubbed or cleaned off due to the fact that you don't want anything abrasive to scratch the paint. Meet Grumpy - our dock patrol seagull. He has quite the character and keeps our yacht free of any other seagulls.

In this episode, we face late season temperatures after leaving Annapolis two months later than we planned. We begin our journey down the ICW mid December, only to find ourselves facing a haul out early January. Upon leaving, we deal with frigid temperatures but two weeks later, after arriving into Hampstead North Carolina, conditions improve considerably. We then get to work on a crazy seven day haul out where we focus on replacing our running gear - New propellor, prop shaft, cutlass bearing - the works. In the past two years of cruising we've gotten used to not being able to depend on weather forecasts, but this time, we've created the problem by being so off schedule.
