***DISCLAIMER COUPLE OF F BOMBS IN THIS EPISODE*** Vlog#4 We leave La Push for a short run down to Grays Harbour. Along the way we experienced a strong headwind and ended up ripping our sail.  We had to tack offshore farther out that we ever have before, which made us miss the bar crossing and we had to spend the night out at sea. In the middle of the night our autopilot could not maintain course any longer and we figured out why... were dragging a crab pot!   In rough seas and pure darkness in the middle of the night we managed to get free of the trap but we had to wait until daylight to try to remove the buoy that was jammed in and around out propeller.   Once the sun came up Trav unwillingly jumped into the water and surprisingly got it cut free on his first breath down.  It was definitely scary, the waves were huge and we didn't want to have any shark experiences!! Once we got cut free we were able to get along on our way.  Thankfully this all happened quickly because we made it into Grays harbour bar right before the tide switched.  If we would have taken any longer we would have had to wait another 12 hours out at sea to make it across the bar into the harbour. ---------------------------------  Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Langkawi is a beautiful island off the coast of Malaysia; it is a very relaxing locale with ample opportunity to enjoy nature through hiking the mountains or via the beaches. It is also a duty-free zone so beer, chocolate, coffee, and myriad products are found at a fraction of the cost elsewhere in Malaysia. We rented a motorbike for the day (be careful if you rent on the weekends as many shops are closed and you cannot get a good price) and cruised around the island starting with the Langkawi Skycab and then visiting two of the most beautiful beaches: Pasir Tengkorak Beach and Tanjung Rhu Beach. Due to the runoff around the island, the water is not crystal clear and you don't get the beautiful colors that you find in the waters around Koh Lipe, but Langkawi is safe and easy. As a navigator, Ian has a highly impressive record with big event wins literally running off the page: Volvo Ocean Race, Transatlantic Race, Rolex Sydney Hobart, Newport Bermuda Race, RORC Caribbean 600, Transpac, Rolex Middle Sea Race, Rolex Giraglia, HK Vietnam Race, and Round Ireland. One big overall win has eluded Ian Moore - in nine attempts at the Rolex Fastnet Race Moore’s team has made the podium twice but failed to win the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s flagship race. Ian is fascinated by the Rolex Fastnet Race and is a leading expert on offshore racing tactics and strategy. He analyses the new route, giving expert advice on the nuances of the famous offshore classic scheduled to start on August 8th, 2021. The 2019 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta hosted the Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy 2019. Since 1998 the Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy has been held regularly, bringing together SWS owners and friends in the Southern Wind family atmosphere. This year for the first time in superyacht racing, SWS owners were be given the fantastic opportunity to decide what the racing format should take for their yacht. There were three racing divisions (Performance, Cruising and Corinthian) with different starting formats – either staggered starts or fleet starts. Taking part in 2019's superyacht regatta, were southern wind sailing yachts SW105RS KIBOKO TRES, SWRP90 ALLSMOKE, SW102 SEAWAVE, SW82 GRANDE ORAZIO, SW100 ILLUSION, SW82 FEELIN' GOOD, SW100DS PADMA II and SW110 Thalima.
