Nachdem Nina und ich beschlossen hatten Segler zu werden und im Winter schon die ersten Scheine gemacht hatten, war der Plan für den Sommer 2018 die Praxis anzugehen und das Segeln von Grund auf zu lernen. Zu diesem Zweck hatte ich mich über das Internet bei Skipper Ralf von der Akinom gemeldet, der einen Mitsegler "Hand gegen Koje" für einen dreiwöchigen Sommertörn auf der Ostsee nach Dänemark und Schweden gesucht hatte. Im Frühjahr 2018 hatten Nina und ich schon beim Auswintern der Akinom inklusive Mast stellen geholfen und einen kurzen Abstecher nach Avernakø in der Dänischen Südsee gemacht. Am 6. Juli war der Tag der Abreise und des langen Abschieds von Nina gekommen. Sie brachte mich nach Gelsenkirchen, von wo es mit dem neuen Flixtrain nach Hamburg ging. Dort holte mich die Crew ab und es ging in der folgenden Woche von Arnis in der Schlei nach Dänemark. Magical Manta Encounters in Raja Ampat. Raja Ampat is know to be the last paradise on earth. For scuba divers it is a bucket list destination. The marine life in Raja Ampat is incredible and it is also know for the amazing Manta Ray encounters many divers experience here. So its been a while but we are finally allowed out to check on Daphi. We started the process of buying her at the start of March, which didnt seem like a silly thing to do at the time however with the county getting shut down just two days after collecting the keys... well we could have picked a better time to buy a new yacht. Especially given that she is berthed 250 miles away from our home in one of the most expensive pieces of water in the UK. Still she is still going to give us a lot of fun and today we take her out, all be it briefly, for the first time.
