Looking for crew across the Atlantic? Send us an email at hello@ryanandsophie.com ! Watch this first: https://youtu.be/3DzIlzOp4gk A couple of days ago, we released a video about “how we are going back to Polar Seal”. At the time we published it, we weren’t sure that it was a good idea to make it public anymore, but eventually decided that it was part of the story. So here we go… Because our safety is our number one priority, and we eventually found the risk level of the Atlantic Crossing on a motor yacht to be above the limit we set for ourselves, Ryan and I made a very difficult decision and decided to bail out of crewing. Although we will wait until our emotions are settled to tell the details of why we felt that way, we figured that it was still very much a story that we want to tell. Besides, we’re up for grabs and could use a few thoughts right now :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** JOIN THE CREW! ** Join our virtual crew of Patrons at: https://www.patreon.com/ryanandsophiesailing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** GEAR ** ⛵️Our boat: Polar Seal, 2007 Beneteau Oceanis 40, owners version (2 cabins layout). I know many of you are waiting to hear how we came through Hurricane IOTA here in San Andres, Colombia.. it was bit more adventure than we bargained for to say the least.. It's not every day you have a Category 5 hurricane less than 40 miles from your anchor. Luckily we have come through the worst of it almost unscathed.. the bad news is San Andres took a beating, and Providencia took a direct hit and from what we understand was completely wiped out, nothing left standing.. Not a great day, but happy to report we are still here. Will get back to you with a more detailed episode when time and internet allow. Stay safe everyone. This week we exercised and repaired our Jib. The UV cover stitching had come lose. We pulled it down and managed to fit it into the salon. This is when we whipped out our trusty Singer 237 sewing machine with UV coated V69 polyester thread. Although the Singer is heavy duty, we still broke a needle and had to adjust the timing. In the end it prevailed and got the job done. The Singer, built in the mid 60’s, has all metal parts and might be comparable to the Sailrite machines at a much more economical cost. Ours came from eBay for only $100.00 and even has a walking foot attachment. When we finished the sun was setting and the wind had died down, so unable to take the boat out and check out our repair we settled for some celebratory dancing. Next week…we check out the Jib. Thank you. http://paypal.me/SailingNandji Grab some Sailing Nandji merch and help support our adventures whilst looking good! https://sailingnandji-shop.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after exploring the beautiful city of Penang and checking out hospitals and doctors for the new spud, we figured we wanted to prepare Nandji for the next adventure. With limited boat yards in Malaysia, we have to explore all our options, including the local fishing vessel yard... With a green light to haul out in the coming days, we leave the city and the fancy marina and head to sea. Penang is connected to the mainland by 2 very long bridges and Nandji has only passed under a few bridges so the novelty of this was amusing. Clear of the bridges and back into the Malacca straits, we up wind sail through the day and night to get south to the boatyard. Bonita continually grows rounder and due to covid restrictions tightening around the country, this could be the last sail as a duo. Baby is coming and the nesting begins!! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! #276 It's truly one of the best walks we have done. What is this place?? We go on a massive descent down the hills of Sao Jorge, hiking on to a little surf village. The Azores have been dotted by these beautiful settlements by the sea but this one might just take the cake. Possibly because it took such a big effort to get there. The people living there are seriously remote, what a place to live. The Azores though, seriously, nicest people you'll meet in the world. We've been helped out of a jam more than a couple times, thanks once again to the kind folk of the middle Atlantic. And thank you guys for tuning in with us today! www.triosmacandcheese.com Food Truckin' is full of road trips to fun Fairs and Festivals. Fairs that are full of happy people. A captive audience of thousands with money in their pockets and hunger in their stomachs and a craving desire to try out new and fun Food Truck food! We're always parked on a nice grassy field with live music playing on the nearby stage. The other food trucks around us are willing to trade food, and there is always a bunch of fun activities to take part in when the food truck is slow... It's serious hard work, but it's something we love. This video is a taste of last year's Food Truck Summer. This year Covid 19 made Food Truckin' a completely different scenario. Sales were 70% less than last year and that was working much longer hours as we tried to bring in as many dollars as we could to keep us afloat. Let's hope the world can kick this Covid virus out on it's head and we can get back to some sort of normal in 2021. Cheers! Trio www.triotravels.ca

In this episode we leave the safe harbour of Port Resolution and get a view of the mighty Mt. Yasur from the ocean just as Captain Cook may have seen it many years before. We sailed to a new bay, Dillon’s Bay, on a new island, Erromango, to explore a new part of Vanuatu. This bay was stunning with lush green steep hills on either side and a river meeting the sea in the centre. The shore was covered with large, smooth grey pebbles and rocks which was a welcome change to from the white sand beaches in New Caledonia. We had the opportunity to join a church service which was completely different to the experience we previously had at Aneityum. Once again though the Vanuatu hospitality shone through when they prepared a generous lunch spread after the service. We enjoyed coconuts at the ‘yacht club’ and an afternoon frolicking in the ocean and brushing up our free diving skills. We hope you enjoy this episode of Sailing with Six. This small inflatable sailboat is easily assembled in 20 minutes without any tools. Easy to handle, its sailing qualities will give you a thrilling experience. Very responsive, stable, and comfortable in light winds, the Tiwal 3 is dynamic in more challenging conditions. Whether you’re sailing solo or double-handed, it is perfect for your adventures at sea or on a lake! Boat of the Year Award | Best Innovation | by Sailing World U.S.A. "The thing was a blast. I couldn't believe how well it sailed. You could have some serious fun with this, especially in big breeze." -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide. Well, it had to come eventually: The end of an era. We stayed as long as we possibly could, but with hurricane season quickly approaching we have no choice but to say our sad, final goodbyes to the Covid crew and leave the Bahamas, pointing the bow North. In this episode we finally leave the Ragged Islands, specifically Flamingo Cay, and head North towards the Tongue of the Ocean, a super deep vein of water running east of Andros Island and perfect for a 220 mile, two over night passage. We encounter very light wind but after not sailing much in the previous three months we are happy to be on the move again and enjoy using our Spinnaker and Code Zero sails. We use the bow sprit to keep our sail in front of the boat and in clean air. No passage is perfect and though conditions are favorable we are hot under the Bahamas' June sun. Joining us on our next adventure is Brian, Kazza & Nugget of s/v Delos. Though they are a much larger boat Calico sails great in light wind and we do a good job of keeping up with them. Captain Bill keeps busy with plenty of sail changes and tweaks does a fantastic job of keeping speeds high in the light breeze. 0:00 Intro 2:20 TTYC Goodbyes 4:30 Downwind Sailing, keep on a rollin'! 7:45 Sailing Change to Assym Kite! 15:05 Tongue of the Ocean, like sailing off the edge of the world! 17:35 trimming the kite 20:00 Nightfall -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Thanks to our Patrons! . #CristianoRolim #Carreira #SucessoProfissional #PlanejamentoDeCarreira #RealizacaoProfissional _____________________________________________________ Baixe E-book Gratis: https://www.gestaovelejar.com.br/ebook-gratis/ Site: https://www.
