In this episode we continue our seemingly never ending trek south. We decide to jump offshore from Ft. Pierce Inlet to West Palm to save time and avoid bridges on the ICW. We have a nice downwind sail utilizing our double headsails consisting of code zero and poled out genoa enabling us to make speedy progress south. From West Palm we opt to take the "inside route" despite the fact that we have twelve opening bridges to contend with. When filming this episode we thought the plot line was going to be running the ICW through all those bridges... How naive we were, our fuel issue once again reared its ugly head requiring nearly as many fuel filter changes as bridges... We even lost the engine just as we passed through an opening bridge with the current pushing us back toward the bridge. We drop anchor after barely making it to Boca Raton and are reunited with our buddies on S/V Delos. Brian volunteers to come over the next morning to help us get to the bottom of our fuel issues once and for all. Skipper an Bord: Wirtschaftsprofessor Sebastian Kummer, der im vergangenen Jahr für Schlagzeilen sorgte, als er auf gleicher Route in die Corona-Falle tappte und wochenlang kein Land mehr ansteuern durfte. Unterstützt werden wir von wechselnden Crews. Auf der ersten Etappe mit Sebastian und mir (Jens Brambusch) an Bord sind Jens, ein Gastronom aus Unna, und Christine aus Wien. Kommt mit auf unsere Reise und erlebt, wie ein Charterschiff zu seiner Basis gelangt. In diesem Fall zu Pitter-Yachting in Göcek. In Teil 2 der Serie geht es um die Bootsübernahme. Das Problem: Bevor wir in See stechen können, müssen wir nicht nur ein Tiefdruckgebiet über dem Atlantik abwarten, wir müssen den Katamaran zunächst einmal ausrüsten. Denn das Boot ist nackt. Kein Teller, keine Sicherheitsausrüstung, kein Werkzeug. Nichts!

We follow the gold to the sauce or the highest quality of Gold and sometimes that means climbing mountains. Normally near the top of the mountain soil has eroded the gold washes down into the streams and rivers. We have found a perfect spot for dredges and high bankers to work with local communities on multiple rivers flowing down the mountain in one leased Area. At the moment it is just a free-for-all with people walking onto the land and operating any way they can to extract the gold as you can see by the water quality people are doing some pretty significant mining practices upstream.??? Traveling up the river about 60 miles we came across a gold bearing seem which tested up fantastically well. Approach to local and told her and organized to have a meeting on Black Gold. He traveled down to where the boat was berthed and we had a good conversation using a translator. He has agreed for us to come up and do some sampling and work on his land and river frontage with the local government support. Also if everything works out we will be able to sign a long-term lease or joint venture operation. We have to modify the dredge to be able to take it up this far so we can sleep and live on it and do all the testing required. Of course once were operational will be able to permanently set up multiple dredges in this location. At this stage we just need to find out what the gold returns are per hour with the Supermax. IF YOU"RE THINKING OF CHANGING TO LITHIUM FOR YOUR HOUSE BANK WATCH THIS VIDEO! Following on from the Ecoflow review, this is looking at a more powerful unit from PowerOak. The Bluetti EC200P could be used as a house bank for a small boat and as it comes with an excellent 2KW inverter and MPPT capable of taking 750W of solar it's a one stop shop for electrical power on your boat. There are even more powerful versions of these sorts of units coming to the market and they really could provide a viable (and cheaper) way of transferring over to LiFePo4 type batteries, which I think most boats will be doing in the next few years. Switching to Lithium isn't a slot in procedure no matter how you do it because of all the charging systems involved, but having in built MPPT's will at least make your solar installation more straight forward. I want to give these guys a shout out as I got some great info from them in my research, Will Prowse... https://www.youtube.com/user/errolprowse and Hobotech https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVsNMiYQkqwIq_gd0rTJF9g so do check out their channels. Hobotec have done a test on a pre-production model of an even more powerful power station from Bluetti that could power large boats, something to put in the mix when you're thinking about moving from lead acid to Lithium for house power. I'm working on the web page to give more details and to give feed back on how the units I have are performing, I'll put the link here when it's done.

The repairs are finished and we think we are ready. Our surveyor is coming in the morning and we are in a rushed panic to get everything ready. We were sooo nervous that we end up pulling an all nighter, busying ourselves with very detail oriented preparations. We had liability insurance on the boat which allowed us to work on the boat and transport it etc - but now it's go time! Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. EP 175: Remote Black Sand Beach.. Phil & Emma our friends from Alaska whom we met in Namibia had finally arrived in Grenada & they asked us to join them on their adventures before they head back home.. Our first stop was the Concord Waterfalls.. it was by far the pretties waterfall I've ever been to and the worst part about it all.. is we lost all the footage because our Go Pro decided to pull a fast one on us and reformat itself. We were so bummed but got the pictures to prove we were there 🤪 We headed off to a secluded beach that consisted of black volcanic sand. We ran so fast across that sand to the water because our feet were on fire but it was unreal and the contrast from the sand to the lush trees around us made for stunning photos. The next day we headed off to see the cutest Mona Monkeys as well as learn how chocolate was made. It was a very eventful weekend that's for sure. It's hard to believe that six months ago we closed on a boat and started our sailing dream; so much has happened in the past six months...mostly good, but some challenging things too. We are different people; stronger, smarter, more courageous, and a lot more humble! Learning all of the aspects of sailing has taken resilience and determination. We started with no knowledge and have built up a little anthill of applicable, survival and fix-it skills. We are only in the first mile of the marathon. Frankly, we are excited to pass the six month mark because everyone says that the first year is always the hardest; it has been really hard (the hardest thing we have ever done), but also really rewarding.
