We headed to the nearby island of Pico... we had a minor mishap in the morning with our wake up alarm but by 10am we were on our way exploring this unique volcanic island by car. By afternoon, we'd only just scratched the surface of the island and we knew we had to come back. So a few days later, we went back armed with hiking boots and cameras, ready to climb to the top of the 2500m, Pico Volcano. We hiked our asses off to to get to the top of the volcano in 3 hours... When we got to the top we were in awe of the strange and bizarre landscape that surrounded us. Steam was coming from the top of the volcano and it looked like we'd landed on an alien planet! After a walk around the top to stretch our (very) weary legs, we then had to get back down again. No mean feat when the "path" was an almost vertical rock scramble! Many, many ankle twists and falls later, we made it to the bottom. It was a pretty amazing achievement and although our legs hurt A LOT for a few days afterwards, we were so glad we'd done it. It really was an incredible sight. We're surrounded by big bulkheads, and now it's time to get the first one glassed in to the bridge deck. We do a little jumping around in this episode, giving features to three of our biggest bulkheads. Matt does a quick explanation of #6, which will lead into our cockpit, before we give the grand tour of how things are laid out in our galley and salon - now that we have it all marked on the floor. :) And after some trimming of bulkhead 4 to get it to fit into place *just right* we spend an afternoon adding the coves and fiberglass to permanently bond it to the deck. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Nous quittons l’île de Zanzibar, cap au nord en direction d’une autre île Tanzanienne, l’île de Pemba, appelée aussi l’île verte. Pour cette première escale, nous choisissions une crique bien protégée au sud, et mouillons dans 5 mètres de fond. Le lendemain nous parons à la découverte du petit village, et arpentons les rues. Ici comme ailleurs en Tanzanie, la population est toujours aussi souriante et amicale. Les pêcheurs nous aident à traîner notre dinghy sur plus de 100 mètres en raison de la marée montante, qui atteint plus de 3 mètres selon les périodes. Puis nous nous partons à la découverte de la ville, achat de produits frais, et un peu d’essence pour la génératrice. Et nous rencontrons une jeune fille qui nous demande de la suivre jusque chez elle, où nous sommes accueillis par sa famille dans une maison traditionnelle accompagnée de ses 8 autres frères et sœurs. Wir haben die Atlantiküberquerung West Ost geschafft und wollen euch mit einem Live Update wieder auf den neuesten Stand bringen. Unser Abenteuer Karibik neigt sich seinem vorläufigem Ende entgegen. Wir haben die Zeit mit unserem Segelboot in der Karibik sehr genossen und so nehmen wir mit einem weinenden Auge Abschied. Unsere Segelreise führt uns über 4000 Meilen von Martinique, über St. Martin und die Azoren zurück nach Gibraltar in Europa. Das Segeln in der Karibik von Martinique nach St. Martin war ein Traum und auch der lange Teil über den Nordatlantik zu den Azoren verlief problemlos. Nur das letzte Stück kurz vor Faial war eine Herausforderung. Segeln auf den Azoren kann anspruchsvoll sein. Leider haben wir auf dem letzten Stück bis Gibraltar weniger Glück gehabt. Eine gebrochene Wante und einen Schaden am Ruder haben wir zu beklagen. Das Ruder wurde bei einem Angriff von Orcas abgebrochen, aber wir haben es aus eigener Kraft in einen Hafen geschafft. Jetzt liegen wir erst ein mal in La Linea, bei Gibraltar, und versuchen die entstanden Schäden zu reparieren. Wir wünschen euch viel Spaß beim anschauen. Who would have though that our little sailboat would be able to make it! After staying at Jen's little paradise for a couple of days we embark on the great adventure. With three locks and one tunnel this was going to be our longest and hardest leg so far. Our tiny budget doesn't allow us to stay in Paris Arsenal, the main marina in town, so we will have to sail just over 50km until we can stop. We will always remember this day. It was such a special trip... Seeing the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre or The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris whilst cruising the Seine on our own boat was pretty amazing and being able to share the experience with Jon was awesome. É o da 48ª Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela, que ocorrerá de 24 a 31 de julho. Quem levou o tradicional evento para o automobilismo foi Gustavo Farah, piloto de competição e sócio do Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI), que promoverá essa divulgação na terceira etapa da Porsche Cup. O carro é um 911 GT3 Cup 3.8 type 991 e integra a categoria GT3 Cup 3.8 Trophy. Nesta sexta-feira (16), os treinos livres foram abertos no palco mais tradicional do automobilismo Sul-Americano. Já no sábado (17), serão disputados o qualificatório e a primeira corrida. No domingo ocorre a última largada da etapa, com transmissão da TV.
