A couple of events from the past resurface as I fit a beautiful old Herreshoff- design bronze cleat and remake an applewood galley locker catch. The companionway steps near completion, as the finishing work continues... This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. I had a chance to test the "Proa" set -up on the Lucky Pigeon hull. After much thought and more work, I made the 300 mile trip to my favorite test site. With the help of my neighbor Tony (not in video), I put the ancient sailing vessel in the water. It was an instantaneous and enjoyable connection to our Proa sailing ancestors of the South Pacific sea fairing tribes of long ago. She is fairly comfortable with 15 to 20 kts of wind. Freshwater capacity to last over 2 weeks and a fuel range of 13 days steaming. About the Boat ''SY Red Current'' is a Southerly 31 with the construction of GRP and rigged as a sloop with Aluminium Mast. Her LOA is 31 feet and she has a beam of 10 feet with a draft of 7 feet. She also has an electric swing keel which makes her draft very shallow and easy to enter in shallow water. So we head to LGM again this time for the final delivery and handover of our new Greatcircle. We arrive a couple of day before so we have time to join Ben & Angels on their test sail on Akaroa III and sail to Marseille and back together with Peter & Irene on their O55 Zapoli. An then it's time for the champagne!

We completed our first crossing and we found some issues on our new #Lagoon46 from Les Sables to La Coruna in Spain. All boats will present some type of issue, even though Lagoon are a production boat, they certainly are hand made and human error will occur. In some instances, issues can be recurrent on some models. We found one that seems to be recurrent on all Lagoon 46 with a square top sail. On this video we will share our learnings, take you along exploring Galicia and set sail again towards Vigo in Spain. Welcome aboard JOY ! In this episode, we continue to explore Mo'orea. Our first stop is a juice factory and distillery, where we get to taste some of their products. We go snorkelling and see sharks, rays, and other fish. We hike up Magic Mountain, while Kevin practices Wim Hof breathing (for more info check out https://www.wimhofmethod.com/practice-the-method, or search Wim Hof on YouTube). We swim from the boat to the beach for a workout. Kevin cleans the hull and changes some zincs. And finally, we motor back to Tahiti.
