In this episode, we start wrapping up our projects on Kaizen while waiting for Tropical storm ETA to pass. Unfortunately for us, our head (toilet) decides to stop working and Dallin tries to save it. After ETA passes with minimal damage we put on our boat's name and lettering. We also get our new chain and galvanized chain marked and installed back on Kaizen. Chris and I did our first dive together at night with Eco Dive in Flamingo Bay. Depth at bottom of dive was approximately 58'. We stayed below the surface for 58 minutes. We decided to get off the boat for our recipe this week! We don’t have a car here- totally wish we did so that we could more easily explore the inland areas of Grenada. For now, we jump along the coast from bay to bay via dinghy…we thought it would be fun to show you a behind the scenes look at how we get around on the daily. We love our little dingy and getting around this way is fun- it makes us quite happy! Beats traffic and the subway, for sure. Hog island is a very small island that sits vacant aside from Roger's rum shack and the veggie stand. It does get a little rowdy on Sundays when locals turn up to grill and bump Soca. The Casino is an absolute classic cocktail, dating back to before the prohibition. It's quite simple to make. We found this recipe to be tart and potent...that may have been because we didn't have maraschino liqueur. I wish we could get that product on our hands- it's very versatile! Either way, our official taste tester didn't seem to mind lol! We are so curious...if you have time let us know what you are finding more interesting so far on Catamaran Cocktails ...the classics or the original recipes. A little of this and a little of that. The location is part Dutch Sint Maarten and part French Saint Martin. There's some repair work for the guys who like that, plus some sailing, since that's what we're supposed to be doing. The window project is a bigger deal than it might appear. It's something that actually took many weeks to complete, and included some crazy metal fabrication. Finally, we finally have a bit of footage of idiots doing their normal idiot tricks. In this case a power boater who blocks us in and refuses to move in order to let us leave the fuel dock. Where do these people come from?

This is and interview with friends of ours who are sailing identical catamarans around the the world and have spent the last two years sailing together in the Med. They were all relatively new to sailing and changed their lives by selling up in Australia, flying half way around the world to La Rochelle, and setting sail on their new boats. Amazingly the couples hadn't met before picking up their boats in France, but they were on the same adventure in the same boats and ended up setting sail at the same time and have bee together ever since. We talk about how things have worked out for them, if the image of sailing life they had from watching You Tube has come true, and the trials and tribulations of boat ownership.

We bought the cheapest dinghy on Facebook Marketplace 😂 And it didn't go so well! But also on a really really exciting note, we went sailing, rolled out the head sail, dropped the anchor and managed to survive the dinghy rides. We are all getting the hang of this boat life, and all the adventures that come with it! It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. His first taste of a blue water ocean crossing. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and Rachel purchased Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn 18, Declan 16 and Ivan 13, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Hallucinant, ils ont envahi le carré de Black Lion par dizaine et autant vous dire qu’à ce stade, il n’y a pas de protection de l’espèce qui tienne ! Ces vampires sont bien là pour nous piquer tout notre sang et pour le coup, c’est eux ou nous ! 22 juin, 7 heures 30, le ciel d’un pur bleu se laisse parsemer par de hauts nuages épars. Je regarde les rives du fleuve Kourou défiler à plus de 10 nœuds. Le courant descendant nous propulse à toute vitesse, à ce rythme la Guyane va vite s’éloigner et le grand large sera alors de nouveau notre jouissance. Les 3,5 nœuds de brise suffisent à guinder les voiles en ciseaux. Les iles du Salut sont nos dernières terres à vue avant sept cent milles. Avec le courant, dans leur prolongement, une lisière semble s’être formée pour définir un marquage précis d’écume et dedans cette barre qui sépare l’eau saumâtre de l’Amazonie à celle, salée de l’océan, des déchets végétaux se font charrier. Entre travers et grand largue, maintenant à 8 nœuds, si la mer reste aussi calme et notre vitesse se maintient à 6, nous pouvons peut-être espérer, être assez loin cette nuit pour ne pas être ennuyés par des troncs dérivants ! Je dois prendre le temps de parler d’un sujet qui nous touche profondément. Depuis que nous avons notre chaine YouTube et que nous sommes sur les réseaux sociaux, des petits malins s’amusent de temps en temps à trouver la petite bête qui peut faire polémique. Alors certes ces casseurs d’ambiances sont une minorité mais il me semble important de faire une petite mise au point pour ces « Pro Écolos » ! Parce que vous l’aurez compris, ces antagonistes sont pour la plupart des militants pour la protection de la nature. Noble cause. Notre Terre est tellement belle et nous, Humains, tellement irresponsables pour la souiller qu’il en faut des activistes pour protester, cependant sachez chers bienfaiteurs qu’il y a des façons plus productives pour sensibiliser ! Culpabiliser les autres pour se déculpabiliser n’est pas, à notre avis, la formule idéale pour faire évoluer les mentalités, car dans ce sens, nous pourrions faire de même, et vous dire, que faites-vous sur votre téléphone et ces réseaux sociaux pour commenter ? Savez-vous que si internet était un pays, il serait le 3 ème plus gros consommateur d’électricité au monde et qu’il émet 1,5 fois plus de CO2 que le transport aérien ? Savez-vous aussi que pour nous permettre d’avoir tous nos appareils électroniques, l’extraction des minerais qui les composent fait des milliers de morts dans les mines et est une catastrophe pour l’environnement ? Alors, à vous, les Pros Ecolos, hystériques de bonnes actions, avant de critiquer et de professer la bonne parole, je vous propose d’analyser votre propre emprunte carbone et si après ça, vous avez encore des objurgations à nous adresser sur notre façon de préserver notre planète, essayez au moins de le faire intelligemment et envoyez-nous un message par signaux de fumée, nu (parce que la fabrication des vêtements pollue aussi) et en plein milieu de la nature ! Anchoring for two days next to Little Pipe Cay in the Exumas was a dream! It was quiet, isolated, and beautiful. The shifting sand bar, color of the water, and great sea life made us not want to leave! While there, we experienced some firsts. We did our first dinghy drift snorkeling, basically a drift snorkel with one of us (always Jeff) tied up to the dinghy. This way we never had to worry about getting back to our jump off point. We also launched our drone for the first time! Jeff took some beautiful footage of the anchorage and surrounding islands. The footage blows your mind! We loved Little Pipe Cay and it appears to be a favorite of many as the small sand bar was visited all day every day by small day boats coming from Staniel Cay.
