This is our third time launching the boat after spending time on the hard. We’ve figured out the routine, for the most part, and each time has been easier than the last. But with so many moving parts, literally and figuratively, it seems like there’s always a new surprise or challenge. During our first haul out, we rebuilt our feathering prop and put it back together with the wrong pitch, leaving us without any propulsion, in forward or reverse. The second year we scrambled to reinstall our 300 lb. centerboard at 6AM, and this year it was managing to do everything while caring for our baby during covid. It all went fairly smoothly, and we even decided to throw in a few last-minute projects! We got a crispy new mainsail from Precision Sails which required a bit more rigging work to install than we anticipated. Kirk also tackled a plumbing project — one of his least favorite duties — to fix a leak in our freshwater system that had been causing us grief for years. As with most things sailing related, even ordinary tasks can quickly require extra-ordinary effort, but as long as you’ve got the right attitude, it’s this extra bit of excitement in the daily routine that makes sailing such an enjoyable lifestyle. Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. We tie her up and get her sparkling clean for her new owner to rock up. But the adventure isn't over yet, we need to get back to Mackay to pick up our car, so we have booked an overnight bus...After eating cheese on a public toilet park bench the bus finally arrives and we realise we have booked the bus for the wrong day...being 12 AM the bus driver was nice enough to have us onboard and we began the journey overnight to Mackay where our car is waiting patiently. We then make our way back to Nakama. Once back, we begin the process of making Nakama look great again, by fixing up her bent stanchion and servicing the wind generator. Although it doesn't sound like much, these are the small steps for getting Nakama ready to go remote in a few months. We also hear from our friends that have done the top end of Australia on the best cruising guides and they also settle our nerves to some of things we are wondering. We, Lisa and Julien, bought our boat in September 2020. On the 28th of that month we flew over to Mallorca with our crew and sailed it back to Scheveningen, The Netherlands. First stop was Almeria, where we had to wait for a BIG STORM! From there we sailed all the way to Porto, waiting for a good weather window to cross The Bay of Biscay. We waited for 5 days and then continued our journey to Cherbourg, which we did in only 4 days!! Our final stop is over home port Scheveningen, where we will continue getting SV Remy ready for sailing the world.

During our sailing time in the Bahamas, we met some astonishing personalities. One of them was the woman solo sailor Mareike Guhr, a former journalist who has given up life on land to devote her life to sailing, teaching sailing on board her catamaran Moana and volunteer working in remote places of the world as "sailing boats are the perfect vessels to reach these" (quote from Mareike). Learn about her orphanage project in Haiti as well as her future plans how to help people in remote places as a sailor. The Avalon Dive Park located on Catalina Island. A short drive up from San Diego and then an hour and half boat ride from Dana Point. Easy shore diving into a protected park. Always a fun dive due to the healthy population of marine life. The park has a kelp forest and contains several artificial wrecks that also attracts marine life. Spring and summer bring Black Sea Bass into the park. These fish are massive weighting several hundred pounds and are usually easily appreciable if done in a non threatening manner. On 17 and 18 December 2021, the Ocean Club welcomed VIP guests on board the luxury motor yacht Caviar for two incredible days of SailGP racing. For the third time, SailGP lit up Sydney Harbour with some of the best sailing seen from the F50s, with high winds on the final day making for particularly exciting viewing. Tom Slingsby and the Australian team won the Sydney event, opening up a two-point championship lead in front of their US rival for the finals in March 2022 in San Francisco. Both afternoons, our guests enjoyed some of the most incredible experiences they’ve ever had out on the water, accompanied by exquisite Laurenti French Champagne and wine, gin and vodka from Wine and Only, as well as local beer from White Bay Beer. Naturally, drinks were served with the finest black caviar from Simon Johnson and the freshest oysters and prawns from Musumeci Seafoods. On both days, over fifty guests enjoyed Sydney’s oldest but newest charter yacht, Caviar. Built in 1955, Caviar started life as an Australian minesweeper before being decommissioned. Coastline Hopping south in Turkey, Winter Sailing, Dodging bad weather, dragging anchor, Fishing, Local Markets, Snowy mountains, Sea Sickness in Big Swell and making new friends. In this episode we make our way from Gocek to Fethiye, to Kas, to Kekova. We leave Gocek unexpectedly to dodge some pretty nasty weather and safely make our way to Fethiye in a nice protected anchorage, but little did we know our anchorage was just one big layer of sludgy mud that's pretty hard to ger holding in. We the make our way to Kas, where we meet up with some new boating friends we had been chatting to online and do some exploring around the town Then we make our way even further south to Kekova and get stuck in some big swell. Little drama in the mountains while I was hiking on the mountain ridge of Moleta de s´Esclop. Already on my last third of this lovely round-course I stumbled over some rocks, slipped and landed in the grass.
