This week Hugh wakes up to water dripping on his head so we decided to tell the story of what prompted us change all of our deck hatches. We replaced four Gebo hatches with two Bainbridge and two Lewmar. Although great with their customer service, Hugh is a little disappointed in some of the design elements of the Lewmar hatches and wishes that Bainbridge made bigger ones. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Avete mai visto un ormeggio disastroso? Come si può riconoscere un ormeggio? come si fa a riconoscere se un ormeggio è stato fatto in maniera sbagliata, disastrosa? Beh, se te ne intendi un po', se sai un po' di teoria, ma se soprattutto hai praticato, fatto tanti ormeggi, dovresti esserne in grado. Quando cominciai a studiare vela mi appassionai subito, mi appassionai talmente tanto che ogni giornata libera che avevo la passavo a fare lezione in barca e fra un cambio di scena e l'altro, mentre giravo -Centovetrine-, leggevo e rileggevo tutti i libri di vela che mi capitavano sotto mano. Dopo qualche mese di questa full-immersion, sapevo benissimo di non essere "un vecchio lupo di mare", ma battendomi una pacca sulla spalla, non potevo che essere orgogliosa del percorso seguito, e quanta dedizione e quanti week-end passati a svegliarsi all'alba per fare centinaia di km. per poi bordeggiare qualche ora, magari sotto la pioggia o la neve... insomma, via... potevo dire di sapere la mia! Senza prosopopea ma con una certa cognizione di causa, guardavo l'operato altrui: i miei compagni di vela, i filmati di vela, il vicino di barca, e già sapevo dove stavano sbagliando; perché quando c'è una "certa" situazione bisogna agire indubbiamente in "questa" maniera e non si scappa. ... Ma più il tempo passava, più le miglia percorse aumentavano e più le mie certezze svanivano. Ora ho difficoltà ad esprimere un giudizio sul mio vicino di banchina, su un filmato visto su Facebook... su un ormeggio di un traghetto. ho perso ogni certezza. Dicono che questo stato si raggiunga quando "sai". ... Ma me lo sto dicendo, e quindi non vale. Unser Besuch auf der wunderschönen Schäre Vrångö war leider wieder sehr kurz. Wir wollten nicht zum Ende des Törns in Zugzwang kommen und brachen daher am nächsten Morgen weiter Richtung Süden auf. Es sollte nach Varberg gehen, die schöne Hafenstadt am Tor zu den Schären! Es war wieder ordentlich Wind angesagt, der uns schon beim Ablegen tatkräftig helfen sollte! Wir zogen noch im Hafen das gereffte Groß hoch und Motor-segelten los in die Schären. Wir fuhren noch an zwei schönen Ankerplätzen vorbei, die wir uns schon für die kommenden Törns vormerkten und steuerten dann das offene Kattegat in Richtung Varberg an. Hier setzten wir dann auch die Fock und sobald wir aus der Landabdeckung waren, ging die Achterbahn aus Wind und Wellen auch schon los! Hi Guys! In this Sailing Episode, we begin BOAT LIFE on Paros Island, where we explore the port of Parikia and our anchorage nearby. Laura enjoys a BoatFit Bikini Workout, Josh has a swimming challenge with spectators to dance/cheer him on and we shoot some incredible drone shots of Paros set under an awesome sundowner. In the second half of this sailing episode, we begin by sailing off anchor, navigating past reefs, huge cruise liners and Captain Ross teaches Josh (age 8) the ropes, who helps him with the sails. On the approach to Antiparos Captain Ross has to navigate through some very shallow rocky waters with less than a 1m under the keel... Hello! Welcome back. In this video we get to work on some boat projects that we neglected for a while - starting with our quarter berth revamp in our Tayana 37. We manage to get our hands on a new dinghy and have some friends come visit. We go to a great little spot that we have to ourselves, hike up to a classic Mediterranean tower and introduce them to sailing. We have some fun with other boat friends and wakeboard with our new outboard & dinghy. Then we hear a BUMP in the night, and get quite a surprise when we wake up to see a motorboat hitting up against Navika. Lots of fun stuff haha. Thanks for watching! After nearly 6000 nautical miles sailed and 8 countries later we finally make landfall on the mainland continent of Africa!! At 01:00 on December 2nd 2021 we tied Skylark to the quarantine dock in Richards Bay, South Africa. It's difficult to express in words the joy we felt stepping off onto that dock for the first time. The notorious Mozambique Channel is now behind us! ...little did we know the Indian ocean was saving its toughest conditions for the last stretch(coming up in the next video!) We featured our good friend Markus in this video and his incredble story of circumnavigating the planet without using a single form of motorized transport. Nueva base en el mástil principal, paneles solares, motor en marcha, calefacción, refuerzo del backstay del mástil principal, cornamusas y guiacabos reforzados, radio VHF y radio multimedia (android) instaladas, monitor de estado de baterías, ventanas nuevas y nueva geometría del brazo del piloto automático... La verdad es que cuesta de creer que haya dado para tanto... Esperamos que en el siguiente viaje dé para la misma cantidad de cosas! Muchas gracias por vuestro apoyo en nuestro proyecto.
