Nuku Hiva is together with Hiva Oa the two biggest islands of the Marquesas, and the ones that had more population and Polynesian culture and traditions before the intrusion of the white man. Many archeological remains as well as partially recovered living culture are still present today within this lush gorgeous island, dotted by beautiful bays, deep ravines, lush valleys and impressive mountain peaks.
Anahoe Bay is an iconic bay in Nuku Hiva only accessible by boat or hiking. With several archeological ruins, and very few inhabitants, it boasts fabulous views that elicit sensations that led us to nickname it "Jurassic Park". Watch this video and you will know why.
Hakaui Bay is another fabulously beautiful, secluded and exotic bay and valley in Nuku Hiva Island in the Marquesas. Watch this video and you will know why.
This video shows how one of our guests prepares a gourmet Sushi Dinner out of local produce, including the fantastic prime cuts of Yellow Fin tuna from the Marquesas.
Tahuata is a surprising island in the Marquesas, with its own unique characteristics that include the most beautiful white sand bay and beach in the Marquesas, which is home to a school of resident manta rays. It also boasts an amazing scenery and very well preserved archeological ruins. Watch this video to know more about amazing Tahuata.
Hiva Oa is the largest island in the Marquesas, and one of the two most powerful in Polynesian times before the intrusion of Europeans. With fabulous scenery, as all Marquesan islands, and quite incredible archeological remains, we learned a lot about its culture and traditions with our great guide Joan during a full day island tour. We also visited the Gaugin museum and replica house where we learned about how Polynesia shaped his revolutionary ways of interpreting human form, colors and sceneries.
Perhaps the most romantic landfall in the Marquesas Archipelago, Fatu Hiva is forever remembered for its Bay of Virgins (Bay of Vierges in French) that still elicits dreams of dancing Polynesians welcoming sailors of the past. Stunningly beautiful, it was our truly unforgettable last stop before heading for the Tuamotus Archipelago.
Raroia was our first stop in the Tuamotus Archipelago. We arrived anxious about the navigational hazards of these unique atoll formations of the Pacific, but soon learned the tricks of the trade and sailed smoothly in its huge lagoon doted with beautiful ¨bommies¨ (surfacing reefs inside the lagoon) and ¨motus¨ (palm fringed islands on the outer reef). Its coral reef in its only pass into the lagoon, is the most amazing marine environment that I have seen, and perhaps will ever see in my life, both due to its living coral and abundance of fish . A spear fishers dream we loaded Shaima with fresh grouper and snapper! Watch this video and you will see under and over the water videos showcasing this paradisiacal atoll!
Maquemo Atoll is one of the larger atolls in the Tuamotus, with two amazing passes to dive and spearfish, and while doing this live the experience of being surrounded by dozens of sharks of different species (most common are black tip, white tip, grey reef - more dangerous) and having some of them snatch and swallow your prey just after you have caught it! Its ¨motus¨ (islands encrusted in the atoll reef) are stunningly beautiful, reminiscent of what might have been Robinson Crusoe´s Island in Daniel Defoe´s book and imagination. This book first published in 1719 as Polynesia was being explored and discovered by Europeans.
Tahanea one of the smaller atolls but with three stunningly beautiful passes to dive and spearfish, watch this video and see the underwater videos of the reef and how we celebrated my 68th birthday on board!
Fakarava a larger atoll with two passes is most famous for its unique Unesco Biosphere Reserve diving sites. Unfortunately I could not video the diving of the south pass, in which we watched several hundreds of sharks swimming back and forth, but still this is a very cool video that highlights some of the most beautiful sites in the Tuamotus and an amazing swimming with a giant manta ray clip, and is really worth watching.
Rangiroa Atoll, the largest and most populated of the Tuamotus, still has many amazingly preserved natural wonders. See in this video our guided visit to the Blue Lagoon and be stunned by its wonderful vistas. Watch also a remarkable Polynesian dance and music show. We departed Rangiroa, our last stop in the Tuamotus, on July 4th arriving to Tahiti, in the Society Islands Archipelago the next day. The Tuamotus have left indelible memories in our minds and hearts.
Diving the Kicker Rock in San Cristobal Island is another of the iconic dives not to be missed in Galapagos. Kicker rock sticks out of the sea like to fingers of smooth granite, and drop into great depths almost vertically. It has amazing resident schools of fish as well as many huge pelagic species that pass by. If you are a lover of nature or diving don´t miss this video!
Los Tuneles in Isabella Island is a volcanic formation that extends from an active volcano into the sea. It is largely composed by volcanic ¨tunnels¨ of hard lava rock interlaced with the sea. These beautiful and strange type of formations are quite typical of volcanic areas and worth while visiting. In addition to its beauty the area boasts an incredible variety of resident birds and fish that reproduce and gear the young in this area. These we explored hiking and snorkeling and are showcased in this amazing video.
Isla Bartolome has the most iconic view of Galapagos. Watch this short video and see what its all about!

Luke Fallon, Captain Kekoa Sports Fishing, & PG, Director Gineico Marine, discuss the X30 Quick Gyro Stabiliser fitted to Luke's magnificent O’Brien 56 - the Kekoa. Following is a summary of the interview. Q1: Luke, tell us a little bit about why you chose the Quick Gyro? A1: We went with a Quick Gyro mainly because it was an aftermarket install and space was an issue! Luckily enough the Quick Gyro fit right in the space that we had, so that was one big plus for us, in-between engines in the engine room. The simpleness of the operation is another contributing factor; but also the fact that it's air-cooled and not water-cooled is a huge part for us......... Q2: Does Quick Gyro really work in all conditions? A2: Well, essentially it stops to go from rocking, and that's the noticeable difference. There’s a tremendous amount of difference when it’s on vs when it’s off. Essentially, it’s killing the rock of the boat. You do feel a bit of a sensation of the Gyro moving at the extremities when it stops, of course it has to do that, but underway, it’s fantastic; trolling - it's a big difference. But also put the Quick Gyro on for anchoring at night-time. Most of our trips are live onboard trips out on the reef, and we're anchored behind the reef at night, so it's subject to tides and weather. If you get strong winds and big tides, it can still be pretty rollie behind the reef. Q3: Does Quick Gyro perform when underway? A3: When I first got it, we mostly just used to turn it on when we got out fishing and started trolling, or turn it on at night-time on the reef when the boat started rocking. But now I pretty much turn it on before I leave the dock, particularly if it's going to be a little bit rough, because it performs so well while the boat's underway. So this cruises between 25 to 27 knots and I say down sea, beam on sea, you know at that speed it's hard to believe that it does work and it is so efficient........ you're tracking is so much straighter and I believe the boat runs so much nicer with it. Q4: Is the Quick Gyro noisy at night? A4: Pretty much you can just turn the gyro on at the start of your trip and you turn it off at the end of the trip. It looks after the changing conditions anyway. So if it's calmer, it doesn't work as hard as if it's rough or it is compensating for that. But at nighttime, we leave it on at nighttime, particularly in those rough conditions and because it's mounted in between the engines in the engine room it's pretty well sound insulated and it's very quiet. Just makes you sleep nice at night, everybody wakes up in the morning not in the middle of the night - no one rolls out of bed when the tide changes 😊 Q5: Why is Quick Gyro standby mode important? A5: It's a deal breaker - it's an important safety feature. For our application being a Marlin fishing boat, generally it's on when it's rough, and it's important because the key to the gyro is it stops the boat from rocking…which is great when you're going forward but it works against you when you're reversing backwards, when we're chasing marlin. When it's rough and we're reversing generally into the sea; the boat doesn't naturally want to roll so the water comes in over the transom and across the corner like it wouldn't if the boat was with it turned off, the butt would roll and go over the waves. But because we're going backwards now it goes basically straight down and through the waves. So when we hook up and we're fighting a fish, it's important to me to be able to turn it off and put it on standby mode so the boat rocks naturally, so we keep the water out of the cockpit, continue fighting the fish as long as you like, & the boat will handle its way as though it didn’t have a gyro on it - important without it we could potentially sink the boat.… it's not a gimmick. Q6: Why Quick Gyro network interface is crucial? A6: I'm driving at multi-stations. I'm operating the boat in the flight ridge, as well as up in the tower, & the main control of the gyro is obviously in the saloon where it's in a friendly environment out of the weather. But having it up here, I can still control the whole you know boat. So you can put it in standby mode & you can see on here on the screen (obviously the gyro is off at the moment) you've got the speed of the rotation of the gyro, & you've got the precession angle of the gyro; you have standby mode at the touch of a button, which as we were saying before, allows you to lock the procession and deactivate the effects of the gyro...(watch video for complete answer) ⚓ Kekoa Sports Fishing: https://www.kekoa.com.au/ ⚓ Luke Fallon Sports Fishing: https://www.lukefallonsportfishing.co... ⚓ Photo credits: Kelly Fallon: https://kelldallfall.shootproof.com/ The Quick Gyro Stabilizer is available for practically any boat size, from 20 - 95ft, & up to 100 tons. ⚓ Learn more - Why Quick Gyros are Better: https://www.gineicomarine.com.au/why-... ⚓ To talk to us, call 617 5556 0244

At the 2022 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, OceanTV spoke exclusively with John Cowpe, Managing Director at The Multihull Group (TMG), Australian importer of Lagoon Catamarans. Cowpe chats with Ocean about the breadth of use for power catamarans - from their stability to their volume - which is what attracts so many people to Lagoon. Among other topics was the Australian market, with Cowpe discussing the strength of the current market and its strong trajectory in the future. Cowpe was very open about Lagoon's focus on environmental awareness and responsibility, mentioning a list of things the company is doing to lessen its environmental impact.
We sailed to the area of Hustadvika. Hustadvika is a coast area that can be dangerous in bad weather, it has shallow water. We had good weather and also got to a Sota spot. We almost got a Summit to Summit activation but the conditions was difficult. Luckely we got the four stations and could aktivate this beautiful SoTa spot. Thanks for the chasers 😃

The fifty foot trimarans of the ProSailing tour have proved themselves to be nimble and potent performers inshore and offshore. Small enough to be sailed single handed or by a crew of five, yet big enough to be a handful. The fleet has plenty of accomplished sailors, among them Sam Goodchild who skippers Leyton. Matt Sheahan caught up with him to find out more about this class and a circuit that is on the rise as the fleet arrived in Cowes at the end of an offshore leg from Brittany.

#MaseratiMulti70 #OceanPack #OceanDecade Sito web: https://maserati.soldini.it/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/giovannisoldini/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/giovanni_soldini/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/giovannisoldini/
