Sad to leave San Andres and all the beautiful people I would love to spend more time with. Unfortunately, I was right the tropical storm L91 turned into a hurricane. So the only thing to do was to wrap up my things and say see you later. Normally I never buddy sail as it's rarely a good idea. I learned a lot from this and gonna share this story in the next episode. However, need some more time to edit it together as I believe it's an important episode with some takeaways I wanna share with you guys. Not so much sailing in this episode but the next will be detailed about the challenges of escaping a hurricane together with another boat not even close to being sea-worthy and not a very competent crew. You can be the friendliest and nicest person, but the ocean don't care about that. What you sail and the respect of the elements is whats matters. SAILING, DIVING + Cooking in Paradise - BOAT LIFE in San Blas Islands | Harbors Unknown Ep. 77 This week we spend our time doing what we set out to do when we embarked upon this lifestyle; sailed, connected with a local who took us diving for lobster and octopus, and cooked a delicious meal onboard with the bounty. This is truly #boatlife at its finest! But of course it doesn't come without challenges. Spending time with Tobias, a local Kuna, was awesome; he is an absolute fish in the water! It was interesting to see his home made tool for catching lobster is similar to our store-bought version; his is like the base model. :) The way he spotted octopus hiding spots was truly impressive. We would NEVER find them on our own. Sailing the 12nm to Nargana, a small village just off the main land, was a breeze, but anchoring in the silty muck was another story entirely. The was the first time we'd seen a proper Guna village and it was fascinating! Tobias took us to a shop his cousin works at so we could buy some fresh produce. What a treat! Back at the boat Fabio whipped up a delicious one pot pasta with the smaller of the two octopus, and cooked the larger one sous vide for 4 HOURS. Dopo aver dato una sbirciatina nel mondo dell'aldilà e tornato tra noi grazie alla grande professionalità dei medici di Salerno, ho trasferito la barca in Sicilia e, di corsa, sono venuto a rintanarmi nel mio buen retiro di Ajim. E qui ho ricominciato a vivere, ma per la prima volta in oltre sessant'anni, mettendo ordine nelle mie giornate e dandomi una routine. E qui, in questo mio paradiso isolato, sono tornato a scrivere e a fare ilo mediatore tra un gatto (Ciccio) e un cane (Totò): adesso la convivenza è, diciamo così, problemativca, ma sono certo che in breve i due troveranno il modo di convivere.

We set sail... or rather we motor with a bit of sailing thrown in ... from the south of Nuku Hiva to the North and drop anchor in Anaho Bay. It doesn't take long before we are surrounded by Manta Rays. Using the drone footage we count over 25 just around Mokara so we decide this is an opportunity not to be missed and we dive in through the thick plankton and find ourselves surrounded by these incredible creatures. Watch to the very end to see all the footage. Anaho is a fantastic sheltered anchorage in the north and is a great place to seek shelter when a southerly wind is blowing into Taiohae creating an uncomfortable swell. There are quite a few walks to do in Anaho Bay too, so find out where these are in advance. They are worth doing. We met a few locals who were very friendly but mostly, the house were all locked up. Oakcliff Sailing Center October 9th. This is the final day of the championship with four teams competing to get into the final two spots and determine who will win the Prince of Wales Bowl.

This trip we cook for Crazy Diamonds previous owners and take a trip down the coast to Brightlingsea for a night stay. Food.. I make stuffed chicken breast with smoked cheese and spinach, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed potatoes and a red wine jus, and a strong finish with pear soufflé. I have chopped around with the format this week for the food for numerous reasons but mainly because with me explaining everything it is creating around an hour of edit which is certainly to long. The recipes. (For 4 people) (As always organic food where you can) Large Chicken breasts x 4 2 rolls smoked cheese diced (Any other cheese will work) 2 large handfuls of spinach diced 6 sheets parma ham (1.5 per chicken) season Method (As per video) Pan fry for 10 mins Oven on 180c for 25-30 mins. The Red wine Jus - 1.5 glasses of redwine - 1 shallot - 1 garlic clove - Bouquet Garni (Parsley, thyme, bay leaf) - 2 knobs butter - Good quality beef / veal/ stock - tomato puree 1 x tbs Method Sweat onions and garlic in some butter or olive oil, add puree and cook out for 4 mins, add bouquet Garni and red wine, reduce by 2/3s, add stock, reduce by half, Strain , add butter and season to taste. Sautéed potatoes 4 x large potatoes (Slice into 1cm thick slices) (2-3 pp) Beef stock cube Salt Herbs (Thyme / Rosemary/ Oregano work best) Butter Olive oil Method Slice potatoes and wash in cold water Add boiling water to cover Herbs and stock cube to pot and salt and bring to the boil. 10-15mins till just soft enough to put a knife through. Strain water and leave for 5 minutes for steam to come off. Olive oil the pan and place potatoes on the pan so each is free (Not covering each other) Add herbs, seasoning butter and olive oil as per the video. Roast for 30 mins on 180c and then turn up to 220c for 5 minutes at the end to crisp. Sautéed wild mushrooms 1 x punnet wild mushrooms Clean and chop in half / keep whole if small enough 1 x finely chopped garlic clove 1 x bunch parsley 2 x sprigs thyme salt pepper Butter Method Butter in pan, garlic in ofr 3 mins medium heat, mushrooms in, salt and pepper, thyme, cook off for 6-8 mins, dice parsley to finish and mix before serving. Soufflés 300g fresh pears (Skinned, hulled and diced) 2 tbs demerara sugar 1/2 lemon juice 1 Tbsp water 1 tbsp pear liquor / kirsch (Optional) 1 x tbs corn flour slaked with a dash of cold water 5 x free range egg whites 40g caster sugar plus 40g for dusting ramekins Softened unsalted butter for lining ramekins Clotted cream to serve (Optional) (You can add some crushed toasted nuts if you fancy) Method Pears in pan with liquor, water, Demerara sugar, reduce down and blitz, saving a few large slices per portion. (Low heat for around 15-20 mins) Bliz up and add the cornflour mix and pass through a sieve. Butter and sugar ramekins. (4 x plus an extra just in case) whisk egg whites to stiff peaks, add the caster sugar and whisk again until stiff. (Should be like shaving foam consistency). Remove 1/3 of the mix and put aside, mix in the puree and mix in thoroughly, be gentle but firm. Add the remaining egg whites and gently fold in. Add a spoon full of mix in the ramekin and then add the pears on top. Top up and smooth off mix with a palet knife, then clean off sides and mark around the edge with a nail or end of a sharp knife. Bake for 8-10 mins on 200c Serve and enjoy. Hope you like it... Any questions just ask. best Carl and Charlie xx

Alors faut-il encore naviguer en voilier pendant la période cyclonique ? Pour nous la question ne se pose pas, oui, il est possible de naviguer mais en prenant beaucoup plus de précautions, le changement climatique ne rendant plus les fichiers météo très fiables... Sancti Petri fue una caja de sorpresas. Julio, uno de los socios más activos de este club náutico, nos estuvo siguiendo desde el estrecho de Gibraltar atentamente, dándonos consejos y pronosticando con exactitud las condiciones que nos ibamos a encontrar hasta llegar allí. Nos recibió él junto con el marinero en un bote, guiándonos hasta la boya donde ibamos a pasar las siguientes dos noches. Gran parte de los barcos en este club pasan todo el año amarrados a boyas y tienen un servicio 24 horas de marinería que llevan a los socios desde tierra a sus barcos y viceversa en ese mismo bote. Solo hay que llamar por el canal 9 y en dos minutos te vienen a recoger. También dio la casualidad que en Sancti Petri se estaba celebrando el Concert Music Festival y esa primera noche Carlos Vives, del que Daniela es fan, tocaba en directo. No pudimos evitar ir, todo un lujo a 300 metros de nuestro barco! Además, nos sorprendió que varios seguidores de nuestro canal vinieran a saludar y pasar unos buenos ratos a bordo. Llegar a un lugar desconocido y que te hagan sentir como en casa no tiene precio.El dia siguiente, con una gran resaca, pasamos el dia en casa de Julio, que nos invitó a una barbacoa junto a su familia y pasamos un gran rato hablando de todo, pero Alex sobretodo de barcos. Se hizo muy corta la estancia, Nano y Carlos se despidieron de nosotros en Sancti Petri y en un abrir y cerrar de ojos nos vimos partiendo de nuevo solos hacia Portimão. Allí nos esperaba un gran amigo de la infancia que nos iba a acompañar para el resto del viaje hasta Dublín. Esperamos que os guste este capítulo, un saludo amig@s!

A three day sailing dinghy adventure camping aboard a 14ft home built wooden sailing boat. Lauren studied and trained as a marine biologist, she is also an ocean conservationist and has strong passion for educating children along her travels about the life in the water.
