Finalmente andiamo in acqua ed è una gioia, oltre che una liberazione, non solo per Y2K, ma anche per noi. Possiamo almeno godere delle brezze marine e sudare un pochino di meno 😊 Una volta ormeggiati al posto assegnatoci nel marina, iniziamo a pianificare i lavori di "ripristino" di Y2K, ma la meteo non è d'accordo: si forma una depressione tropicale sulle Vanuatu (si spera una delle ultime) e siamo costretti ad attendere l'evoluzione di questo sistema prima di continuare. Great tips for fiberglassing a boat hull. In building "Victoria", the 9' tender for "Arabella", boat builder Bob Emser shows the proper way to add fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin to the boat hull. Several tips are revealed from making perfect epoxy fillets, adding micro-balloon fairing filler, final sanding too priming with 2 part epoxy primer. Why one layer of fiberglass cloth? One of the goals of building the tender is that Steve Denette requested the boat be as light and strong as possible. He is fully aware that those two requests will be a balancing act to dial in the correct proportions. The answer came quite easily when we discussed Victorias construction with John Harris, owner of Chesapeake Light Craft. The full discussion can be viewed on A2A video “LIVE from 2022 The WoodenBoat Show” One question I posed to John was other stronger fabrics like such as Dynel and Xynole both are much higher in abrasion resistance. Unfortunately they also require a lot more resin to wet out, as much as three times more than glass cloth. Because of the large weigh difference John’s recommendation was a single layer of glass cloth on the outside and inside of the hull. The combination of inside and outside will give the best weight to strength ratio. “When such a resin (epoxy) is reinforced with glass fibers the resulting composite can have a tensile strength between 45,000-50,000 psi. It also becomes extremely resistant to impact damage. Semana Santa 2023 Navegando a bordo del Aristos Tres. Y es que el Aristos Tres ha nacido para navegar. Izadas la Mayor y el Génova este Fortuna 9 de 1991 se comporta como un auténtico corsario bellaco. Este barquito ha nacido para escorarse, para que le pasen las olas por encima, para que no le regalen nada. Ola a ola, bordo a bordo, se gana con creces su reputación. Salimos del puerto de Punta Lagoa con viento fresco del SW. Vamos a auxiliar a un amigo que se ha quedado sin combustible y le llevamos unos litros de gasoil. Quedamos en el Faro de la Borneira. Al llegar a Borneira, allí no había nadie. Le llamamos y resulta que estaba en Moaña. Se dejó llevar por el viento. Al final le alcanzamos en Punta Lagoa. En las inmediaciones. Le damos el gasoil y ya somos libres para navegar. Ponemos rumbo a Barra. Es donde queremos dormir. Pero no va a ser un rumbo directo. En el Aristos Tres, nuestro destino siempre está donde nace el viento. Toca ceñir. Ceñir es de pobres pero ¡cómo mola ceñir! Fondeamos en Barra no sin antes observar que hay una mar de fondo de órdago. No podremos desembarcar con Pipo. Al día siguiente decidimos alquilar un amarre en el puerto de Cangas. Náutico Rodeira, para ser más exactos. Los dos días siguientes los pasaremos aquí. Con una salida muy chula con buen viento. Través, ceñida y de vuelta para casa con una buena navegación a un largo. Pero va a ser mejor que veas el vídeo. Una imagen vale más que mil palabras.
