The weather improves a little, so we decide to go snorkelling on the reef. The currents are very strong, and we change our minds and do a drift snorkel instead. The weather sets in, and the anchorage inside Mermaid Reef is very rolly. With no good weather forecast, we decide to leave the reef and make a beeline for Darwin. It’s going to be about a 5-6 day passage. We head off and end up with virtually no wind the whole way, so we motor and motor. Just as we are very close to Darwin, a massive storm hits us in the middle of the night, and we battle to keep Nutshell safe. After a long passage of motoring, we finally end up in Darwin, where we tuck Nutshell up, nice and safe, to leave her for the cyclone season while we head south to Perth to fill the cruising fund ready for our next sailing adventure. An impromptu live as we leave on our first day on Flotilla. We had our sharpen up dinner last night in Trogir with all the crews. We're now three boats with the upcoming weather. Now that we're in that sweet spot of temperature, we can get to vacuum bagging some of the larger items for our catamaran. We go to work building the structural beam which will sit at the back of our cabin top. Since our traveler will sit above this and be bolted through into it, we need to make sure it is very strong. Starting with a 4x8 sheet of coosa board, (a very dense foam), we cut it down into strips 3" wide and then stagger joints to get an overall length of 10.5'. Then we stack them on top of each other to make 7 layers. Bonding this all together involves our thickened resin to start, and then multiple layers of both unidirectional and double biased fiberglass. It's been nearly a year since we've last done any vacuum bagging and hopefully we haven't lost our touch! We hope you enjoy!

This week we went to explore a beautiful waterfall towards the West of Guadeloupe. We were stunned by the beautiful nature that surrounded us. There were green everywhere! We had so much fun swimming in the waterfall and the environment was very calm and relaxing. Later in the day we went out at night and did a lot of shopping... maybe too much shopping. Our car was stuffed to the max with 7 people plus a bunch of groceries 😂. It was a really fun night. The next day we decided to head down to a few islands just below the main Guadeloupe island. We and our friends sailed side by side for about an hour and we reached a beautiful island! The views were stunning with the sunshine hitting the blue waters. We had an awesome night having more coconuts and watching movies with out friends. Then we spent another day in the beautiful beach and decided to head down to Dominica! Enjoyed the video? In this episode, we leave the BVI and head to the USVI. We never really spent any time here, so we took a few weeks to see why people love it so much. We sailed all the way to Pineapple Cay to visit their island farm. The Bahamas island Pineapple Cay is beautiful with several small islands surrounding. We were able to climb and explore one of the smaller islands that had a small cave seen from the water. The hike up the side of the island was a bit nerve wracking as there were numerous skeletal remains of small animals. The next morning we headed to the big island, Pineapple Cay Bahamas to walk to the island farm. We read they bake fresh Cinnamon rolls daily and they often sell out early. We were lucky to get there in time before the cinnamon rolls were gone but we were VERY surprised to see the AMAZING produce! We have never, not even in the US seen produce like this! After only a few days in Providencia, our weather window opened and we had to take advantage of it to get to Bocas Del Toro. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to stop in San Andreas or we would have been stuck there for at least 2 weeks. So, we picked up anchor and headed off on a two day journey to Bocas and the country of Panama. In this episode we catch a monster lobster and pretend to be James Bond at Thunderball Grotto. After a few nights of lightning and rain, we leave Staniel Cay and check out Rachel's Bubble Bath (at low tide so no bubbles). Grenadinlerin Bequia adasında Fishcake - Dennis ve Gypsea - Orhan & Derya ile beraberken bütçe konusunu onlara da soralım dedik. Belli ki bizim harcamaları optimum seviyede tutmak için biraz daha çaba harcamamız gerekiyor. Diğer yandan harcamaların boyutunu belirleyen teknenin boyundan tutunda teknede kaç kişi olduğunuza kadar bir çok değişken var. Biz biraz da özellikle son zamanlarda yaşadığımız aksaklıklar ve tamiratlar için gerekli malzemeler dolayısıyla da bütçemizi aştık. Her şeye rağmen belli ki bir tekne alabildikten sonra ayağını yorganına göre uzattıktan sonra her şartta bir çok yönteme kıyasla daha keyifli ve daha uygun maliyetlerle gezmek mümkün. Die Steuerbordbilge wird saniert, die Backbordachterkabinenwand wird geglättet und verstärkt und natürlich wird am Geräteträger wieder einmal gespachtelt und geschliffen. Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei generalüberholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen.
