The Great Boston Harbor Islands Cleanup was a once-in-a-generation environmental restoration effort to remove and responsibly dispose of abandoned fishing gear and marine debris from five ecologically significant islands: Great Brewster, Middle Brewster, Outer Brewster, Calf, and Lovells. Led by the Center for Coastal Studies and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, with support from NOAA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, and Boston Harbor Now, the initiative mobilizes over 70 trained volunteers and hundreds of community participants for a weeklong “adventure cleanup.” This project aims to restore critical wildlife habitats, protect coastal bird nesting areas, and preserve the natural, cultural, and recreational value of the Boston Harbor Islands for future generations. In this episode we discover a less known jewel in the Mediterranian Sea many sailors skip this island but don't it is really worth a visit but you need a car to really enjoy but together with our buddy boat Tintomara we had rented a car for 3 days and we made 3 amazing roadtrips and watch the video all the way to the end and we will take you with us into narrow city streets, up on amazing mountain roads and drive the breathtakingly beautiful sunset road along the west coast of Corsica. But first we got boat job to do. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our sailboat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is sail the Mediterrainean Sea and really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager. Hurricane Idalia /Sailing Free Spirit We have a hurricane coming in from Mexico. It’s expected to remain about 150 miles offshore and we are no longer in the cone for landfall. We are however expected to have significant storm surge of 4-6 feet at what else… king tide which is higher tide than normal. We are on floating docs and we are about as ready for this storm to come in as we can be. We are hunkered down on the boat in the marina for the next 24 hours. Wenig Wind verlangte 2025 den Seglern bei den Boddenetappen einiges ab. Das Rennen nach Lubmin musste kurz nach dem Start in der Flaute abgebrochen werden. Samstag ging es dann direkt nach Gustow, da nachlassender Wind angesagt war. Die Sonne kam auch noch raus und so wurde es dann doch noch ein ganz schöner Segeltag auf dem Greifswalder Bodden. Sonntag ging es dann für uns schon wieder in heimische Gewässer. Danke an die Ausrichter für die schöne Veranstaltung.

Next, we hire a car and drive 70km west into the lush rainforest of Eungella National Park. Our goal: the two breathtaking waterfalls and rock pools of Finch Hatton Gorge. The hikes are beautiful, the scenery is lush, and the swim at the end is absolutely worth every step — crystal-clear, refreshing, and surrounded by towering rainforest. From there, we fly down to Sydney for four big days at the Sydney Boat Show in Darling Harbour, showcasing our Kick N Bak FLOATS. There was both celebration and relief for skipper Alexia Barrier and her crew as they crossed the finish line near Ushant after completing their lap of the globe on Monday 26th January in 57 days, 21 hours and 20 minutes. There were signs of the damage everywhere, with the starboard daggerboard strapped heavily, and the port helm position spray screen missing. The team have been through the wars, and the problems with the mainsail hook, which so almost stopped their voyage as they approached the Cape of Good Hope, being the most major in terms of performance. The mainsail eventually gave out in the North Atlantic, leaving them to sail the final 1000 miles with just the head of that sail hoisted on the boom and then their range of headsails. The conditions off Ushant were still horrendous for their arrival, with high seas left over from Storm Ingrid, and the team came in at pace, even with the reduced sail area. The team have proved incredibly resilient, despite all of the technical setbacks they’ve endured, and completing this first all-female non-stop circumnavigation sets the benchmark for challenges to come. The IDEC Sport trimaran they were on was the same on which Francis Joyon set the previous Jules Verne Trophy record, but that was nine years ago, and the legendary yacht is showing its age, and the team’s decision to slow down at the Azores to miss the worst of Storm Ingrid was, without doubt, the only sensible choice to achieve their goal of reaching the finish line. Während wir versuchen, eine Lösung zu finden, bringt ein Baumstamm vor dem Boot zusätzliche Probleme und der nächste Sturm zwingt immer wieder dazu, Pläne anzupassen. Als der neue Propeller ankommt, muss er abgeholt werden – und am Ende selbst montiert.
