Time to install our Aux switches in the dash of our Jeep and not hanging at our feet. After the install of AC in our Jeep wrangler, there is limited space under the dash, but really not hard to install the switches in the dash. We also have to repair some cracks in our dash caused by an accident and the previous owners. This video is a small part of a larger Jeep rewire project. We thought this would be great to share as we continue to edit the more complete content. The reason for this part of the project was the switches, due to the install of the AC, where hanging below the dash. We think that the dash looks so much better and how they should have been installed in the first place. This spectacular variety of marine life (over 1,300 species of fish, 600 mollusk species) combines with some of the natural world’s most exotic birds including distinct Birds of Paradise. This is Raja Ampat: the undisputed epicenter of marine biodiversity and one of the richest marine Ecosystems in the World. The Raja Ampat archipelago (which when translated to English, means ‘Four Kings’) encompasses 40,000 square km’s of land and sea, consisting of over 1,500 islets which surround the 4 main islands of Misool, Batanta, Salawati & Waigeo. The first comprehensive scientific study of the area was conducted as recently as 2001, and a record-breaking census found nearly 1,000 previously unknown tropical fish species. With the unearthing of Raja Ampat’s biodiversity still in progress, international conservation groups, in partnership with local communities and government, established 7 ecologically connected marine protected areas (MPA) in 2007, and another 5 across the Birds Head Peninsula have been added since. The relative remoteness of Raja Ampat has been the region’s greatest defense against overuse and exploitation, resulting in a pristine ecosystem unfettered by the maelstroms of industrialization with ecological wealth unsurpassed anywhere else on the planet. Calico Jack‘s crew have a distinct passion and reverence for the natural world. They explored these regions avidly; plotting out a journey that would reveal Raja Ampat’s finest topographical and underwater wonders to share with like-minded individuals. Winds were light, so I took the opportunity to try my hand at sailing through some narrow passageways. I had checked them all out a few weeks earlier while motoring during a period of no wind. There are some shallow rocks...but they're all on the shore side and visibility to 10' is excellent. The boat only draws 18" so you just have to hug the deeper, outside part of each channel. I'm a little jealous of the kayakers though!

In this video we continue along the south Spanish Atlantic coast towards the historic city of Cadiz. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again. In season 6 we started to sail east again to Cartagena in Spain where we wintered 22/23. The next season 7 will be about sailing and anchoring in the Balearics before we sail back to mainland Spain to Valencia where the boat currently are.

So we left Cape Marina on our sailboat to start our adventure in Cocoa Village and hang on anchor for a bit. This will be our first stop of many on the ICW, and we step into a more nomadic life. To get our sailboat to Cocoa Village, there are going to be many first. On April 20th 2024 our captain participated in Guinness World Record of the most people playing dominoes underwater in Willemstad, Curaçao.

It is always a sad day when the boat comes out of the water for the season. We could not have asked for a better day with the sun shinning and a gentle breeze which made for a smooth lift out as GTR was put on the hard for another winter.
