Melbourne yachts returning from races to Hobart via the West Coast of Tassie would call into Port Davey for some cricket and a BBQ on the beach at Schooner Cove. So popular was the event that GA and Willo devised the Melaleuca Inlet Yacht Club. Membership was the price of the club T-Shirt. A sojourn at Clayton’s Corner Hut where a shower and fireplace were enjoyed for the evening was followed by a headsail only race back to Schooner Cove, BBQ and refreshments before the trip back to Port Phillip Bay. January 1992.

Have you ever seen a ghost? Let alone ghost ships? Well after spending a little more than a week at anchor in A Coruña, it was time to move on. We decided to head to Ría de Camariñas further west and south along the Costa da Morta (the coast of death) of Galicia. We were not alone! With the forecast of reasonable winds from the correct direction, almost every other boat (mostly Dutch) in the anchorage decided to leave that same day. However the wind prediction was once again... wrong! There was little to no wind most of the day until we hit the sea fog near Corme. Then the wind picked up nicely but from the complete other direction. Luckily Make My Day sails good on the wind. It was in the fog that the ghosts appeared.😳 We arrived safely in Camariñas and settled in. Hiking the area with the crews of Senang and Alskling II. We also, together with these crews, organized a beach party using our potjie (the South Africans will know). Last but not least we were visited by renown dolphin whisperer, Romy from SY Kodiak when they stopped later in the ria. The results speak for themselves. Highlights from Race Day 3 of the 2022 Resolute Cup, held September 12 - 17 at the New York Yacht Club - Harbor Court in Newport, R.I. The 23 teams competing in the 2022 Resolute Cup arrived on Monday, September 12, for on-site registration and mandatory practice on Tuesday, September 13. Racing is scheduled to run Wednesday, September 14, through Saturday, September 17, starting each day at 1030 am EDT. Teams will compete in a qualifying series during the first two days of racing. For the qualifying series, the fleet will be broken into two groups and each group will sail roughly half of its races in the RS21 and half in the Sonar. Teams will be randomly assigned to a boat, and follow a rotation schedule throughout racing each day. There will be no bye races. After the qualifying series is complete, the top six from each fleet will move on to compete in the Gold Series Finals in RS21s. The remaining teams will compete in the Silver Series Finals in Sonars. Finals will begin on Friday, September 16, and all teams will start with a zeroed-out scoreline. In this Captain's Vlog I updated the Electric Dinghy Motor with a Pistol Grip remote control, and a new ESC (Electronic Speed Control) This is a DIY SailboatLife Hack and I'm making steady progress. In the previous episode dedicated to the electric outboard motor I successfully powered the trolling motor with 2 Ryobi Hand-tool batteries. In this episode I successfully pair a RC Pistol Remote Controller with my Newport 24v 86lbs thrust Trolling motor... and it worked! Kinda-sorta worked... and then it didn't. Blew out the new speed controller so I didn't get very far. Anyone got any good leads on a decent ESC for a brushed 24v motor?
