We are going back to Polar Seal!!! And we’ve been hiding something from you… Alright guys, it is time that we come clean about something :) In September, we realized that we really needed to get back to Polar Seal. She is our home, and we simply cannot leave her baking under the sun in Curacao. We’d rather be baking with her. Unfortunately, it was still impossible for us to travel directly from Sweden to curaçao, as the island simply wasn’t allowing travelers from the country. Our options were limited, but one day… we received an email. And that email, changed everything! In this episode, we tell you about how we are going back to Polar Seal, and about the epic adventure that is awaiting onboard Lady Luna, a Hatteras 70 from 1978. In the next 2 months, Ryan & Sophie Sailing becomes: Ryan & Sophie Motoring! :) Welcome to a new chapter of the adventure! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** JOIN THE CREW! ** Join our virtual crew of Patrons at: https://www.patreon.com/ryanandsophiesailing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** MUSIC ** 🎶 In this video: Andres Cantu - Celebrations (Epidemic Sound) Luke Melville - El Monte (Artlist) Giant Ember - When I am calling your name (Epidemic Sound) Mothers Madness - Overwhelmed (Epidemic Sound) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** GEAR ** ⛵️Our boat: Polar Seal, 2007 Beneteau Oceanis 40, owners version (2 cabins layout). We toured Joshua! The famous steel boat built by Meta Yachts in the 1960s for Bernard Moitessier. We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house? Check out our website to know more about it https://www.oddlifecrafting.com/blog We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. Before I officially take possession of my new yacht, we head out for some of the final sea trials to track down a strange noise coming from the electric drive system. The issue seems to be somewhere around the Python drive, CV joint, electric motor, and prop shaft. We try several different adjustments and manage to reduce the noise quite a bit, but we still can’t quite get it completely solved. After the sea trial, I also give a full rundown of the electric drive system, including the motor setup, drive batteries, house battery bank, and the components that make this electric catamaran work. This yacht is almost ready, but as with any new boat, there are still a few gremlins to track down before I can officially call her mine. Thanks for watching Sailing Doodles! Join me on my longest solo sail so far — a 400-nautical-mile journey from Roatán, Honduras to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. As a woman sailing alone through the Caribbean Sea, I faced some serious challenges and beautiful moments alike. This was a solo sailing adventure I’ll never forget. It was my birthday at sea, and just when I thought I might feel alone, a little bird landed on board and kept me company. But the ocean had other plans too — low on fuel and with my batteries running down, I tried to start the engine and discovered it had pulled air. With no one around, I had to bleed the fuel lines at sea — not exactly how I planned to celebrate! But that’s the real life sailing story of a solo sailor girl. As the wind picked up on the final stretch, I made great speed toward land, eventually reaching Isla Mujeres just before sunrise. From engine troubles to moments of quiet reflection, this solo ocean passage reminded me why I love the cruising life solo, even when it’s tough. If you're into offshore sailing solo, sailing mishaps at sea, or what it's really like to be a female sailor solo on a Reinke Super 10, this one’s for you. Facing the challenges of solo sailing as a female sailor, I navigated the highs and lows of single-handed sailing while tackling DIY boat repair projects, from engine fixes to full boat refits on a budget. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle. If you’re interested in remote sailing adventures, authentic sailing stories, and the realities of living on a sailboat, this channel offers a glimpse into the world of DIY projects, the sailing lifestyle, and life’s transformative moments on the water. In this weeks episode i wanted to go over the last 12 months and show everyone just how far the project has come, and to thank each and every person that has been involved either online or by lending a hand on the boat. She was repowered less than a year ago and has only 300hrs on her Caterpiller 3208TA engines, all but guaranteeing years of reliable service and easy maintenance. Life style changes make her available now. With over 1500 delivered the iconic GRAND BANKS 42' Classic remains the most successful trawler design ever produced. Introduced in 1966, the original mahogany construction gave way to fiberglass in late 1973. The GRAND BANKS 42's semi-displacement hull with it's long keel, hard chines and a deep forefoot, provides a level of stability and comfort seldom matched by other boats. Full teak interior with galley up at the port side forward, lower helm door to starboard & mid-salon door to port enhance ingress & egress to either side, a must when locking through or docking at a different port each evening. Surrounded by large cabin windows, visibility from the lower helm is excellent in all directions, and there's plenty of flybridge seating for when fine weather prevails. She also has a large aft cockpit for easy line handling or for cooking dinner on the rail mounted Magma grill, plus wide walk arounds that allow easy access to all four corners of the boat, a must for serious cruising. Truly a couple's dream for extended cruising, day trips or taking a group of friends around the bay for sight seeing. A pleasure to show, a pleasure to own, a pleasure to sell, Moondance may be just the Grand Banks 42' you've wished for. Quick Boat Maintenance Project today to help protect our boat Dodi from fire or damage caused by electrical shorts. There were a couple things wired directly to the battery when we bought her, which is a problem. It was a qucik fix wit a couple of in-line fuses and some heat activated shrink wrap. That's the boat life! This is The Boat Life. Nic Morganti and Melissa Auman are moving onto a sailboat. The plan was sell everything, buy a boat, live on a boat, and travel and explore the Caribbean and the world while living aboard! Simple plan, but lots to learn and do along the way. Thinking of getting your own jet boat? Check out our list of the best jet boats you can buy at around 100,000 dollars! In this video, we’ll list down some of our favourites, including their unit price and features. Watch until the end of the video to see our top choice! It was New Zealand engineer William Hamilton who developed jet boats in the 1950s. Since then, jet boats demonstrated their popularity in other ways. It’s a kind of boat wherein the water is sucked up beneath the watercraft through an intake and ejected from the back of the vessel. ⛵️ Leave a LIKE, write a COMMENT, and SHARE this video if you enjoyed it! ⛵️ SUBSCRIBE and click the notification BELL to be updated with new episodes! We did a tour of Sirius Yachts boatyard that has been building boats for 54 years and we learned a lot from them. It's a boatyard that we always wanted to visit as they have such good ideas and great finishings and also they build deck saloon boats and we are also building a deck saloon sailboat. So, we are excited to share with you all the things we learn during the visit. Thanks so much, guys. On the season 4 we sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean), we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. The last season we are starting to build a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life. We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. SUBSCRIBE to our channel and join us every SUNDAY for a new episode of our journey!! #boat #boatyard #sailboat

I continue my 900 nm solo sail from the Azores to Spain. I am astonished to see a dangerous 'fisherman's pot' 200 NM from land. I also admit 'operator error' for not having secured the pins in my shackles. Three came undone during this trip -- fortunately without drama, but it could have been a much different outcome. Lesson learned.

In this episode, we get a bit seasick! It's gotta happen to every sailor, right? Ah well, the crossing nonetheless went well. No mishaps, just a bit of waves which threw our stomachs off balance. We crossed from Sardinia to Menorca, a distance of about 200 nautical miles which took us about 50 hours. The first day was relatively calm and we had full sails up. Over night, the wind and waves picked up, until we were sailing with only a very reefed in jib –– and still making 4 - 5 knots! Crazy. We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran! We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.

Grabbed a bite to eat, and suddenly realised the prop had stopped spinning and the water around us was moving but we weren't. Yup, we had stopped! Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit #sailing #boatlife
