Hello Friends, I awoke to the heartbreaking news of the tragedy onboard the Dive Boat Conception burning down to its waterline and sinking with over 30 people MISSING still. We dove on this boat in January of 2018 and I shot a bunch of footage but never made an episode of the trip. I have put together what footage I have of the layout of the boat for any friends and family members or anyone really that wants to understand what happened or how this could have happened. The below decks of this boat were packed floor to ceiling with bunks, stacked 3 high. I don't have any footage of the two small stairwells that lead up into the cabin but I remember being shocked that there was no accessible hatch to the deck, that I knew about anyway. I am not putting blame on the dive captain or the company who runs the boat because this boat was highly professional and checked out by the Coast Guard regularly so it was obviously up to code. Disasters just happen sometimes, and there is no bigger disaster on a boat than a fire. My heart goes out to the divers and the friends and families of all that were lost. The nobility of a metal will determine how it reacts to others with differing nobility, leading to the more noble metal enhancing the corrosion of the lesser noble one. BF 203 M/Y H is the third yacht of the Fast Displacement Veloce 140’ series and is characterized by a new hull design that makes the D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull even more efficient. The Wave Piercer is a bulb mounted on the bow that comes into play when the yacht reaches 17 or 18 knots. The Wave Piercer travels just below the surface at slow speed, but once the vessel reaches the proper speed the Wave Piercer emerges and increases the effective waterline length, giving the yacht better performance and efficiency. Fuel efficiency increases by about 10% at a given speed, while with the same power there is an increase of about 10%, therefore allowing higher speeds. The BF 203 M/Y H is equipped with twin five blade propellers and twin power plants developing 2,580kW each, with a straight propeller shaft configuration. The BF 203 M/Y’s internal layout offers four guest cabins – two with twin beds and two queen size – on the lower deck, while the owner’s apartment is forward on the main deck. On the same deck we have the main salon with bar zone and bridge, all with lateral panoramic windows for a perfect view. The dining area, with a large expandable table, is on the upper deck together with a second salon. Good airflow in a boat is very important. But then again, so is keeping people out while you're away, and in some areas, while you're sleeping at night. Almost from day one our rebuild, we knew the current companionway door situation was not ideal, and we wanted to make an option where we had some sort of swinging door for easy access to get in and out. With the clock running out just before we make our departure now, Matt put together a solution which is so far working out very well. Follow from start to finish as he tackles what has been quite a time consuming project for him. The last push to get the boat ready for sea. Getting the liferaft tested was a big job that had to be done. The Raft was an old one that had been living in my kitchen for the last 5 years and appeared to be in good condition. It was expensive but worth the the peace of mind getting it retested. With the engine, we changed the oil and all the filters. As with all old Perkins, this engine needs lots of oil top ups and a loada luvin to keep it running! One of the last big things on the list was the Plotter. In the last video it decided to quit and became an ex plotter! After looking around on the internet I found a self fix and saved the day . . . and a lot of money!!! The next video coming up, ( a bit erratic at the moment due to being at sea and being in places with crappy internet!) will be the start of the adventure proper. Thanks so much for watching.
