We first met Chris Sheehan and the Warrior Won team when they arrived in Hobart at the end of 2022 RSHYR. It made for a memorable interview not only in learning how the details of the Warrior Won campaign had been developed, but also because a 35 knot storm burst hit Hobart in the middle of the interview! The Hobart race was one of a full suite of ocean classics on the Warrior Won program, as you’ll hear in the interview. Chris has gone next level for the Rolex Fastnet race, convening a very impressive Brains Trust that includes Will Oxley, Stu Bannatyne and Richard Clark.

As we sail onwards from the Messina strait, we face ever rising temperatures and weak to non-existing winds. The scenery however becomes very interesting and stunning as we explore the Aeolian islands of Lipari, Salina and Filicudi. Our plans are constantly blown to pieces by the wind or lack e of the latter, and we finally decide to try to making our way to Sardinia by going back to Sicily. On the way there Leo's mostly decorative and non-working fishing rod actually decides to work - or perhaps the fish also perplexed by the rising temperatures decide to go for our sad and slow lure. After some fighting Leo reels close a rather big Tuna, the sight of such a beautiful fish alone brought doubt into the entire enterprise, especially since preaching about overfishing etc... But as if the sight of the one helpless hooked tuna was not enough, his buddy (friend, mate, sister, brother) was swimming in antagonising way behind it, showing no fear to us brutes. Some tears and regret showed on our faces, and it was decided that the fish should be freed if deemed that its chances of survival were high - thus went the hope for a long longed fish dinner. Unfortunately, in the last minute the line broke setting the tuna free, unfortunately with the lure fish, but alive and reunited with his/hers/their companion. Shit happens, and sadly we caused suffering - perhaps the fish survived, perhaps not. We however got a reminder of how precious life can be, as well as how complex and social even Tuna can be, not much different from the dolphins we all love! Découvrez en détail comment nous avons changé une partie de notre chaîne de mouillage et comment nous avons aménagé notre baille à mouillage. Nous vous partageons nos réflexions et nos choix stratégiques quant à notre chaîne de mouillage. Idéalement nous aurions changé toute la chaîne. Mais voilà, le coût de 70 m de chaine de 10 mm dans les îles du Sud Caraïbe est exorbitant. Nous passons, pour un temps, sur une ligne de mouillage mixte : découpe de la chaîne, allongement de la chaîne, épissure cablot / chaîne... bref vous saurez tout ! Depuis un moment déjà je voulais aménager ma baille à mouillage pour la doter d'une section supplémentaire. C'est l'occasion ! Matériaux, découpe, mise en oeuvre... J'aime le résultat.
