Salt has been used to preserve food for thousands of years. The Dry Pork or Lomo Curado is very typical from Spain (similar recipes exist in Italy and other Mediterranean countries) and delicious. We made it to Virginia! Still heading south in the Chesapeake Bay, we cross the state line on our sailboat into Virginia as we pass the mouth of the Potomac River. As we make our way further south, we finally encounter our first reasonably warm weather of the trip sailing from New York. Apologies, but this video was deleted (accidentally) in a sweep through some of the content awaiting deployment. We decided to alter our publishing schedule and, well, made a mistake. Although plastic is used for many purposes such as lightness and convenience, today some 120 billion units (all materials) are produced by the industry every year. This over-packaging as well as the plastic micro-particles used in some products have a huge cost on the environment and on our health.

It's time for the second half of the trip to Frankton Locks! A sunny bank holiday weekend meant everyone and their boats were out on the waterways. Lots of boats, lots of close calls, and lots of getting stuck on the bottom. Couple that with a cocked up winding and I was keen to call it a day! Sufficit to say, the evening's rum was well deserved! Editors warning! Apologies for some very glitchy footage, it was taken on my brothers' phone and my editing software just couldnt cope with the resolution! But I thought I'd best include it rather than not, so I'm sorry for any issues.

This episode we arrive at Magnetic Island and had some drama unfold. From losing our tender anchored up in Picnic Bay, to our ending stalling while navigating into an anchorage and to top it off. A friend lent us their tender and we got the tow line around our prop. Josh had to jump into stringer and crocodile waters to get the twister rope off the prop.
