The highly competitive Mini Maxi group of boats powered out of the Heads led by Sam Hayne’s chartered Celestial V70 (Willow) followed closely by Anthony Johnston’s URM Group, Philip Turner’s Alive and David Griffith’s Whisper. Alive (engine Issues) & URM Group (dismasted) both retired from the race on the first evening. Celestial V70 went on to take 2nd place in Line Honours and 1st place on IRC overall.

ERAORA is a very substantial and appealing yacht with gross tonnage of 134 tonnes. She was built to RINA class by Mural Yachts in Turkey, launched in Spring 2011, she was kept in class until 2016. Her hull is built of mahogany and sheathed and West epoxy systems were used. The result is an extremely strong yacht which enjoys all the benefits of wood in terms of insulation and feel. We believe her construction method, materials used, and execution are all great positives. Her design affords huge deck spaces; there is a wonderful shaded aft deck and the flybridge is a stand-out feature providing al-fresco dining and a choice of relaxation areas. ERAORA will allow you to entertain large groups of friends and family. With four spacious guest suites, two double and two twins, ERAORA offers outstanding comfort aboard. The saloon has large windows, an internal helm, dining area, with a large bar area as well as a sofa facing a large TV. ERAORA has only been used privately, but the layout would work well for an owner wishing to offer her for charter. She has plenty of space in her garage for water-toys and she can accommodate up to five crew. Her current owners use her as a family yacht in which they are fully involved, with just a single crew member. She is cutter rigged with powered furling for the headsails. With an LOA of just over 28 metres and a LWL of nearly 26 metres her twin Caterpillars can deliver 12 knots. She is extremely economical at speeds around 8 knots giving her a range of over 2,000 nautical miles under power. Her systems and fittings are of top quality and highly specified. Dark Angel can finally sail again thanks to a generous friend, and apparently we now have an attention-seeking shark who expects pets on demand. Then I’m underwater in a bikini trying to patch our damaged keel as we keep chasing progress one fix at a time In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, after months without a headsail, we finally rig the beautiful jib/genoa donated by our friend and fellow cruiser and turn Dark Angel into a proper sailboat again. Then a very friendly shark insists on pets from the sugar scoops. And thanks to another generous cruiser who handed us some seriously pricey Splash Zone epoxy, I slip into my work bikini and try to patch our damaged keel. ⚠️ Lightning Strike Update We were directly struck by lightning. Navigation systems, running lights, anchor lights, work lights, a large freezer, and even our keel were damaged. Learn from professional athletes and college sailors about utilizing engineering to maximize their understanding of the sport. Our Luxury ships are a class above in terms of space and comfort. Each cabin has a shower and wc, as well as air-conditioning. Taking an average of 49 guests, the Luxury Ships are larger and newer in design than the Ensuite Ships. All the cabins are based on twin share and are mostly twin or bunk beds, although there are some double cabins available as well. The cabins are approximately 12-14 m² in size (including the ensuite), larger than the cabins of the Ensuite ships. There are also some triple cabins on the Luxury ships, consisting of a double bed and a single bunk and very few quads. All bed linen and a towel are provided. We recommend that you bring your own beach towels for use on the decks and beaches.
