There were many great stories in this year’s race to Hobart but one of the most inspiring and emotional was saved 'til the end. The arrival in Hobart of the first indigenous crew in this famous race’s 75 year history was a landmark event. It was also a fine tribute to the work of skipper Wayne Jones – whose idea this was - and the dogged determination of a crew, many of whom were new to sailing much less offshore racing.

We’re seated only about six inches from the surface of the water! Horns blaring, big boats backing up and pulling out, and narrow passages. It was a busy area but beautiful and so fun! Welcome back to Part 2 of our sailing adventure in the Spanish Virgin Islands!! This week, we anchor up in the main Island of Culebra, rent an off road UTV and do some exploring all over the Island! Then we have a beautiful sail off to the Island of Vieques where we spend one evening and then finally end up with a gorgeous morning sail back to the the main island of Puerto Rico! In this trip we stop at lots of beautiful beaches in Culebra and show you some of our favorite spots to eat and hang out! Deez Knots FINALLY leaves Florida and sets sail across the Gulf Stream to Bimini, Bahamas. Our autopilot breaks during the crossing so we have to figure out how to fix it in a country where resources aren't as easy to come by. In the meantime we spend some time fishing, exploring, and getting accustomed to this new way of life. Of course it wouldn't be a Deez Knots video without making some mistakes along the way!

Die letzte Großbaustelle wird eröffnet - die Pantry fliegt raus! - Bau eines neuen Batteriepodestes für die Backbordmaschine Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen.
