Intro Sailing Thule: Small boat, Big adventure In 2002, we set sail from Norway in a small sailboat, ready to explore the world. We were just two adults and a young child on an adventure like no other. We navigated the waterways of Europe, watched dolphins play in the Mediterranean, and crossed the vast Atlantic Ocean to reach the Caribbean. We sailed through strong winds, and at times, no wind at all. We spent four months enjoying life on the beach. We even raced against legendary yachts like the Velsheda and the Windrose. Much of our time was spent at anchor. Occasionally sailing from island to island, soaking in the beauty of the Caribbean. In the middle of the Atlantic, we came to the aid of another yacht in need, sharing what resources we could in the vast emptiness of the ocean. Shortly after, dolphins joined us, leaping joyfully alongside the boat, and also a pod of whales appeared close by. Some days were utterly windless, the sea like a mirror. Other days, the winds were almost too strong. We stopped to sketch our memories in the Azores, drifted through a calm in the English Channel, and finally, after 13 unforgettable months, we returned safely to Norway. Those flights were always stalling before tuning the original flaps presets that came out of the box. Much after I played with the CG but after some time, I learned that it is best to launch it sideways (rolling), so the excess lift is used to make wide turns. By the time the energy gets to a normal lift speed, the plane has recovered from the roll and glides smoothly. there are no videos of those flights because it was difficult to properly launch the airplane on a roll while filming... There are many types of macro marine life, colourful coral on the surrounding slopes and big schools of Big Eye Trevally (Jack Fish). Again, I have to apologize for the bad video quality of myself. Ce qui frappe en premier lieu, c’est l’aspect très carré du catamaran, avec une proue totalement droite et une ligne de pont n’affichant quasiment aucune ondulation, si ce n’est à l’arrière, où le profil s’adoucit pour venir rejoindre la plage de bain. La largeur reste de son côté assez modérée (2,93 m), ce qui ouvre les portes, pour le Molokai, à des places de port « normales ». Les étraves sont quant à elles acérées comme un sabre japonais ; leur profil rappelle un peu celui des Aquila 32 et 36, mais avec des entrées d’eau beaucoup plus fines. Enfin, à cause d’un pont avant très fin et perché sur de hautes étraves, le bateau offre un aspect à la fois aérien et très sportif. Il évoque même un peu l’univers des catamarans offshore aux performances très affirmées. Dernier clin d’œil, un faux hublot est peint sur la coque de part et d’autre pour rappeler le design des autres modèles de la marque. This is "The Story Of Hawila" - a series documenting the refit and community surrounding the ship "S/V Hawila", a traditional wooden sailing ship built in 1935 in Norway. A group of friends saved the ship from destruction. They formed the not-for-profit organisation "Hawila Project" in 2014 and have operated the vessel as a platform for culture and education since then. The vision has always been to bridge coastal communities and engage the public in challenging issues surrounding globalization, overconsumption, and the climate crisis. Now, the goal is to integrate ethical transport of sustainably produced organic goods, which is why the ship has been in a structural overhaul since September 2020 in Holbæk, Denmark. Hawila will be sailing 60 tons of organic products and trainees across the Atlantic in an emission-free way, showing that respectful, ethical, and clean transport is possible. In this intro to our series "The Story Of Hawila", we are bringing Hawila back into the water at the end of March 2022 after 3 months of intense work on the hull. I wanted to give a quick update on our plans, we had some boat problems that we could not fix ourselves, so we hauled the boat back out and went home for Christmas. We'll pick back up in January!

With not much wind again today I decide to sail down to the Enchanted forest. We haven't been there this season yet and I really miss it. We beat all the way down, slowly but surely giving the TP10 a run for its money. We then drop all but the main and can point much higher as we make our way into the little cove. The wind is so changeable today that the windward shore quickly becomes a lee-ward one and we crash into the bushes. At least that's one way to anchor!!! After a very nice lunch in the shade we set off, through the school of laser dinghys and set the spinnaker and the TP10 to see how Lulu fairs.
