For more review, test, performance data, captain reports and more about the 2016 Yamaha AR192, go to http://www.boattest.com/review/yamaha/2757_ar192-ref=YT Yamaha refers to the AR192 as its jet boat with “supercharged watersports performance” and, with its single 1.8 Liter (1812cc) Super High Output engine and stainless steel 3-blade impeller, we think it may be hitting the nail squarely on the head. She’s gained in maneuverability with the integration of the articulating keel. Her layout is just the right mix of affordable and upscale. And she’s packaged with a trailer and collapsible wakeboard tower.

Nandji was no super yacht when we bought her, but I can not believe Bonita waited this long for this... https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we rip ore old stuff out of Nandji and throw it over the side. We rewind back to a month ago when Nandji was still on the hard stand and we were deep in fixing mode. But you can not do an oven install and not have a cook up with it!! So once the oven is installed, we fast forward back to present time during our shakedown sail and Bonita does a little cook up!! Having a working cooker and oven is essential. A device that gimbles and holds the food on top is something Nandji has previously lacked. I can not believe Bonita went 4 years with only one burner that works! Now we can cook up a storm!! If you are enjoying our videos, sign up to Patreon to help support us, our production and the adventures. Thank you. https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Sailingnandji Grab some Sailing Nandji merch and help support our adventures whilst looking good! https://sailingnandji-shop.com With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Now completing our second major refit, Nandji is ready for the world when the world is ready for us!!! Contact Mike Porter for more information including specs and pricing: Cell: 401-619-2122 Email: mporter@ecys.com Sparrow is a perfect example of the modern cruising boat; extremely well-equipped by an experienced sailor with highlights including: Leisure Furl in-boom furling, furling headsails, electric winches, bow thruster, central vac and a large cockpit for entertaining. She has the preferred 2 stateroom 2 head layout including separate stall showers in each head, as well as tons of extra storage in the galley area in lieu of a conventional "nav station". A majority of modern sailors are cruise planning using an iPad or laptop so Sparrow is equipped to accommodate these modern amenities without wasting valuable space on a built in nav desk down below. Sparrow is a 2018 model year but better than a brand new boat without the added price or build time, and all of the bells and whistles added and the kinks worked out. She is in the water, rigged and ready for you to get onboard and sail away immediately.

In 2008, a farm boy from Indiana named Alex Rust was working at The Chicago Board of Trade. He found success, but not happiness. At the age of 25 Alex quit his job and drove to Florida in search of something better. He traded his old minivan for a small sailboat he found on Craigslist. Alex taught himself how to sail with the help of a 'Sailing For Dummies' book. On New Years Eve 2008 Alex set sail from Florida with 2 friends, and headed towards the Bahamas, never looking back. What followed was a 4 year adventure that took Alex to the farthest corners of the globe. Alex's relentlessness and appetite for risky behavior made for a grand adventure every American boy once dreams of - but at what cost? 'Chasing Bubbles' is the story of one man's search for fulfillment by pushing everything in his world to the absolute limit. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. You've been telling me to do this for months now, and I finally started listening!! Improve your energy and gut health today - http://athleticgreens.com/mjsailing In this video, which takes place back in early to mid November, we're still trying to close up the boat for winter by bringing in more of our molded pieces. After having the side decks dry fit and just about ready to bond down, we still need the foredeck in place just to make sure everything is sitting as it should. Once that is in and we know it all looks good, we get a good weather day to break out our methacrylate bonding agent. Between just Matt and I, we get to work on bonding the port deck on. And in the process, I have to admit, I finally figured out what so many of our viewers had been talking about for months, in the best way to bag our methacrylate. We hope you enjoy! Sail faster by installing a new prop, Yep, thats the plan! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we install our NEW Autoprop onto Nandji. We are very excited about this upgrade to our sailboat. In our eyes, this is the second most important upgrade we have made to Nandji behind the new engine. The Autoprop from Bruntons is specifically designed for cruisers at it can give an extra knot of speed under sail! That is a massive difference for us slower boats! To install the Autoprop onto Nandji, we have to make a few modifications to the sweep area of the prop. As the new Autoprop has a little larger blades than our previous fixed bladed prop, it also is a feathering prop requiring a larger sweep area as the blades rotate 180 degrees giving the vessel the same power going astern as forwards propulsion. When under sail, the self pitching blades pitch to a degree where up to 85% of drag is reduced allowing the boat a much higher speed under sail! Stop it you say, well I agree my friend... If you want to know more about the Autoprop, follow the link below... http://bit.ly/Autoprop With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. Currently on the hard stand, we are re-powering and completing a major refit! We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced different cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! Indian Ocean here we come!! We have a couple days until the next owner of the boat arrives and we still have a lot to do. By the way... if you still don't know we sold our boat in Grenada in the Caribbean and we are getting her ready for the new owner. This week we finally installed the amazing valves we have waited for a long time to get our hands on. For some great quality Marelon valves check their website for more information: https://www.forespar.com/marelon-marine-boat-plumbing.shtml Friends in this episode: @SailLife @TeuluTribe Where the boat is: https://spiceislandmarine.com New owner of the boat: expedition_karambak (insta) We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house? Check out our website to know more about it https://www.oddlifecrafting.com/blog We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. You can imagine the future or you can be a part of it. Lowell North decided to be a part of it– and lead it. When he started North Sails, Lowell North’s philosophy was simple…get the best people and commit yourself to make the best product. Be clear, creative, methodical and competitive in spirit. Surpass your wildest imagination. Over the last three months, teams powered by North Sails have achieved remarkable results. Our customers commanded the Vendée Globe top 10. Luna Rossa went head to head with INEOS Team UK to win the Prada Cup. Emirates Team New Zealand successfully defended the America’s Cup. And the 49er and 49erFX Olympic classes unanimously selected North 3Di one design sails for the 2024 Olympic cycle. Those pinnacle events are all an integral part of the North Sails culture and share two important elements: the North Design Suite and 3Di sail structures. But the real power of North Sails is the seamless collaboration of our global team. And the range of our recent successes—from offshore to inshore to one design—sheds light on the hundreds of projects being moved forward every day by the collaborative efforts of North Sails designers, manufacturers, and sail experts around the world. We all benefit and learn, and as a result, so do our customers. We sailed days out of our way to get here but was it worth it? After sailing 46,000 miles around the world, have we now found the best sailing destination? Join our journey in 3 days of sailing from St Martin to Bermuda. We have a breakage when trying to shake out a reef but manage to jury rig a solution that seems to hold. The wind starts dropping out on us more and more but it means we can get in a little bit of fishing, relaxing and playing with the sails. Half way day (day 4), we start to go a little loopy finding things to do and settle for having a beer and pizza and trying to make friends with some dolphins who've come for a visit. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. The Lagoon national park area around Faro in the Algarve is well known with sailors around the world as a great place to safely anchor while waiting for the right weather to transit down to the Canary Isles or into the Med. It also has a great DIY boatyard and good prices if you need to come out of the water. We explore the whole area, come out for antifouling and battle with our 2 stroke outboard, again! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You Tube are now putting mid -role adds on videos, but there is a way to see the current videos with no adds at all before they get released to the public. We didn't actually do enough motoring to properly test it however so apologies for not having that in this film. We will give a video update in a future episode, but in the meantime I do have some stats from using the alternator a bit now so will write out what I've found here: Firstly on advice from experienced marine engineers that you get much more longevity by running the alternator at below full capacity I set the 'belt manager' to 3 on the regulator. This means you will not get full capacity out of the alternator but it will be less stressed and last longer. having the belt manager on 3 is supposed to drop the output by 21% and it seems I get about 95 Amps at cruising revs when the batteries are able to accept full charge so that seems about right. There are also some comments on the alternator film that people have experienced Balmar failures due to excessive fan belt dust. I would always do everything possible to avoid creating fan belt dust, that's why lining up pulleys and tensioning the belts properly is important. You need a tensioner on a twin belt system, levering the alternator over and tightening it up won't cut it! In real life use, after a night at anchor I'm typically at 60-70% state of charge on the house bank (580AH AGM) So running the engine to leave the anchorage and raise the sails, usually about 1 hour, gets my state of charge up around 15% so 75-85% This is about right as the internal resistance of the battery goes up to a level where bulk charging is slowed to such an extent that solar is a much better option anyway. A no wind passage where you're motoring for a period of time will easily bring the batteries back to full charge which is good for the batteries. We get enough days like that in the Med. to give the batteries an occasional full charge so we don't have to rely on shore power to do that. Basically then I think the alternator is doing the job it needs to do & I'm happy. I'm still a bit shy of total power for long term voyaging without resorting to the Generator. We only used the Genny once in the last 4 months. But the power I'm short of is more the lower amperage long term charge which for me will probably be more solar. We could go to wind, but I'm very reluctant because of the noise, even the best modern designs are intrusive to some degree. Hydro is also an option, but difficult to fit on a canoe stern. Also reducing power draw is always something to look at. I've done everything possible for the moment I think, but there is one big saving we could make which is to fit wind vain steering at not use the autohelm. This is an attractive option for all the other benefits it brings, but it has the same problems of fitting to a canoe stern and is expensive. If you're interested in the technical aspects of sailing, i've uploaded some maintenance videos of the boat lift to the 'Tech Corner' page of our website... http://www.sailingfairisle.com/tech-corner.html We edit these episodes as we go along so they are always right up to date, so please follow us on Facebook to get an insight into what's coming up in the next episode.

I make an additional two port calls in the Hebrides before sailing across the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland. I end the episode with a ten hour passage to Viking territory: the Isle of Man. Along the way, I manage not only to run aground in Rathlin Marina, but also to visit one of the best marinas I have ever been to: Carrickfergus near Belfast.
New for 2023, the 355 leads Wellcraft in a new direction. She has a decidedly Euro look and can be used as a day boat or coastal cruiser. She sleeps two and is powered by triple outboards. Cruising really does mean boat work in exotic places, especially for Nandji! https://www.sailingnandji.com This week on Sailing Nandji, we arrive to the island of Belitung, Indonesia with a broken gearbox. After an exhausting passage, we get some rest and realise this island is not a bad place to be stuck! The scenery has been described to that similar of the British Virgin islands, not sure what they look like, but if they look like Belitung then they must be alright! We find the most helpful gentlemen named Harun who runs his own workshop in town. He went out of his way to assist us and get our gearbox fixed. If your ever in Belitung, look him up! Absolute legend! With Nandji ready to sail once more, we take the time to enjoy the island and go exploring, learning about the fascinating history. We hear about a miniature monkey and decide we need to see that! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and are now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL. https://www.youtube.com/c/frothlyfesailingnandji CLICK THE BELL to know when NEW Nandji videos are up! Madeira is often called the floating garden and the pearl of the Atlantic and we can understand why. It is so beautiful! Join us as we explore the island and get some very nice drone footage. After a couple of days we sail on to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. We passed the Savage Islands which are in the middle of nowhere in the Atlantic, saw dolphins and turtles and now we have reached the Canary Island, the goal we set up before we left Sweden! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us. It looks like our first attempt at a daggerboard case was a fail, so let's hope the second time is the charm!! Within this episode you'll see what our first attempt looked like once we got it off the mold - and see the crack from the topside, of which made the whole project go awry. But, stocked once again with all the supplies we need, it's time for attempt two. We have perfect weather, with a cooler morning, giving us plenty of time to apply resin to our 8 sheets of fiberglass, and get them secured under our bag before turning our pump on. Then it warms up in the afternoon to a great curing temperature, we hope!! Just to be safe we let it sit overnight with heaters, and go back to check the next morning to see if it was a success or a failure. We hope you enjoy!! Much love from Annapolis!
